The AW20 capsule collection by Swiss-based British/Indonesian designer Jacqueline Loekito is about sharing clothes with your partner, or friend of any gender.

Sharing is caring, we often hear. But how would it be if we would all share our wardrobes with our partner and friends, no matter the gender? I imagine style would evolve and become a wild and cool mix of silhouettes, aesthetics and tastes.

Since sharing is an important topic when it comes to sustainability, it most certainly will become an inevitable part of the future of fashion. Companies such as Uber or Airbnb changed our thinking and lead the way to a world where ownership might be obsolete. Their model can be an answer to how we experience fashion in the future as well. In a sharing economy, we would all gain access to an endless wardrobe and stop overconsumption in one go.

Sharing is saving resources and costs and we don’t need to possess everything we wear. Just think about your wardrobe and how many “never-to-be-worn-items you have there, probably most of them bought for that one special occassion… I often find it sad that a lot of beautiful clothes don’t get worn as often as they deserve, sharing is an answer and we still wont be seen with the same look twice on Instagram!

With her new collection, Jacqueline Loekito goes ahead and fantasies in about a sharing scenario. All her clothes can be worn by all genders, which makes sharing even easier. For the first time ever the designer includes a black look in a collection, but it’s far from being boring: It has something of a black widow who gave up morning and decided to take out her pink jacket (or maybe borrowed it from her friend’s wardrobe).

The accessories are an important part to complete the looks, especially the dramatic hats. But also the earrings, bags and shoes that are part of Loekito’s work deserve a mention.

Now I’m curious: Do you believe in sharing as a future concept for fashion and who would you share your wardrobe with?
