Do you enjoy imaginary journeys to places far away while you are actually at home on your sofa? Does it calm you down to know that you could go right now, that you have everything you would need? It has this effect on me and this is why I own a whole drawer of swimsuits for the beach holiday I might eventually go to and the perfect suitcase for a pink Barbie dream journey. Just in case, you know…

Other people might start to plan the actual journey and worry about the equipment then, I do it the other way round and start with the shopping. Maybe, I’ll decide to stay home in the end. When it comes to this suitcase, I think you must understand me: I just had to have it, right? I mean look at it: It’s pink, it’s neon, transparent and it has Barbie logos all over it. It was love at first sight, just like made for me. When I saw it at the PR event I didn’t want to leave the room without it and already saw myself at all airports in the world with my cool Barbie luggage. You can imagine how happy I was when it was mine for real.

Now it’s standing in my office and I have a huge grin on my face whenever I see it. Where are we going my little pink one? I don’t know right now, but we will find an answer to that soon. Till then, we enjoy the imaginary trips that can bring us even further than London, New York or Tokyo: There we travel to the pink planet, have a rose cocktail with Barbie and jump into a pool (I can imagine you know what colour it has). How exciting and almost cooler than a real trip!

If you ask very nicely, I might send you a pink postcard.

Surprise, surprise, my second Goodiebox arrived at my doorstep. This month the box is bright and orange and the theme is “Energize”. The items are chosen to help me charge my batteries while experiencing some me-time.

People always call me a busy bee. I tend to fill my calendar from morning to night and sometimes forget to plan time to relax between work at the agency, photo shootings, exhibitions, events and helping out friends. All the things that I do mean a lot to me and fill me with pride and happiness, but sometimes they also let me drop to my bed exhausted. I bet a lot of you know this feeling very well. So thank you Goodiebox for the kind reminder and the inspiration to relax.

What I found
in this months Goodiebox:

– Phase Zero Metal Foil Eyeshadow
– Starskin Glowstar Foaming Peeling Puff
– Rituals Velvety Smooth Cleansing Foam, 30 ml
– Human+Kind Body Soufflé, 200 ml
– James Read H2o Tan Drops Face, 15 ml
– Essentials by Goodiebox Face Mist, 150 ml
Ecooking Moisturizing Serum, 10 ml

My experience:
What do I think about this months Goodiebox?

I love the brochure that came with the box, the text is written as if it comes from a caring friend, very cute! My favourite item in this box is the Essentials by Goodiebox Face Mist because I love a good face mist to beat the dry winter air. I love as well the Starskin Glowstar Foaming Peeling Puff, I heard so many good things about this peeling sponge.

The only product I won’t use from this box is the James Read H2O Tan Drops, sorry Goodiebox, but I like my pale complexion. But besides that, I got six cool products that I will happily use and I’m already curious for next months Goodiebox.

If there would be something like charts in flamingo land, what do you reckon would be the number one hit and make the long-legged birds go crazy on the dance floor? I try to figure it out while going out with my new flamingo record earrings.

I feel like I can almost hear the cheerful music and I wanna go home, turn the record player on and dance through my living room with a flock of my favourite pink animals. Flamingo music must be just as cute, vibrant and colourful as the flamingos themselves, I imagine. I bet flamingos are graceful, amazing dancers with their long legs.

In my opinion, earrings are the best when they are a statement and I think the bigger the better. My favourite jewellery store in Berlin Tukadu never disappoints me and my ears. If you ever go to the German capital you can’t miss this gem of a shop: My face is looking at you from all the windows and I couldn’t be more proud to (kind of) have my own shop. It’s, of course, the most quirky shop in town, filled with an endless selection of the cutest earrings you can imagine.

If you’re not as much into flamingos as me: Tukadu is doing unicorn, or I Love Berlin records as well. In my case, it just had to be the flamingos, nothing else for the flamingo queen!

My ears are ready to party, so let’s turn the music on, dance on one leg and ruffle up the pink feathers!

I’ve been sitting at my desk for almost two hours now, thinking about a topic to talk about. Right now I feel that I told you a hundred times about my love for rainbows and the effect colours have on our well-beeing. So for today, can we just stick to the fact that the look is the message?

I think most of you don’t come to my page for life advice or for poetic words, but to see pictures. So why don’t we just watch today and don’t talk? You know, like lovers who just met and are happy to just stare into the eyes of each other seeing the whole universe. Sometimes no words are required, an outfit is just an outfit and it’s good when it’s pretty, fluffy and colourful. If I manage to make the world 168 cm more beautiful, like a walking canvas, my mission is accomplished.

It’s not about what I tell you but about how the pictures make you feel. In the end, isn’t all about emotions in this world? At least I am and if I have to choose between logic and emotions I always trust my guts. This would make me a terrible mathematician, but it was never my aspiration to become one in the first place.

If I like an art piece, I might be able to explain to you why in a logical way or I might not. Somebody told me a while ago that love doesn’t need an explanation, it just is. I couldn’t agree more and think the same rule applies for fashion and art.

If it’s good, it just is and this look is a colourful rainbow. So take a few more glances till your eyes are charged with colours, leave me a smile and have a wonderful day. See you soon, maybe we’ll talk then, or continue to just stare at each others eyes.

Unbox happiness, is the credo of Goodiebox. Who doesn’t dream that happiness comes in boxes and arrives at their doorstep? In the case of Goodiebox, the box is filled with beauty products that promise wellbeing for the soul. Sounds tempting to have a closer look, doesn’t it?

So what exactly is this box full of happiness?

Goodiebox is a monthly subscription box filled with carefully selected trendy beauty products. It started in Denmark, but is now available in several countries, for example as well Switzerland, Germany and Austria. The goal of Goodiebox is to remind women of something they often forget between to-do-lists, multitasking and daily tasks: Taking care of themselves and celebrate #yourselfishness.

Every box is filled with products from Scandinavian beauty brands, hyped trends and established brands, a lot of them in original size and ready to help you to create some me-time. Every box costs CHF 29.95 and contains products worth CHF 100.

What I found
in my first Goodiebox:

– Zarkoperfume Purple Molecule, 5ml
Dr. Botanicals Moroccan Rose Nourishing Hand Cream, 50ml
– Naobay Recovery Mask, 75 ml
– Glov Moon Pads Reusable Makeup Remover Pads, 2-pack
– de_CURE N° DAY1 Lightweight Day Cream, 10 ml
– Polaar Lip Balm, 10 ml

My experience:
Does Goodiebox make me happy?

First of all, I have to mention the beautiful box. I already had to smile when I opened the cardboard and spotted the pastel-coloured beauty. There was a letter to myself in the box, thanking me and telling me that I do deserve to do more good things for myself. Very cute! The next thing I opened was the flyer with the carefully described details of all products in the box.

The products are chosen according to my skin type and are well-chosen: As a big fan of Zarkoperfume I was delighted to find one of their perfumes as a mini in my box. I am curious to try the Glov Moon Pads as well since I was curious for a long time if I could replace the cotton pads in my bathroom with a more sustainable solution. I didn’t hear of Noabay and de_Cure before which makes both products interesting to try. The Dr Botanicals hand cream delighted me too since rose is one of my fav scents.

So all in I think the box is a success! Excuse me, can’t write more, I need to take me-time now 😉

Hello earthlings, did you ever imagine that your beloved fairy tales might come from outer space? Did you sense that there is another Sara with long hair who might let it down and take you on her spaceship and tell you stories of galaxies far away? The only thing you have to do is to be brave enough to climb, Rapunzel is here!

I almost didn’t recognize myself when I looked into the mirror wearing this mass of bubblegum pink hair by Trinity Belle on my head. Yes, I felt alien, but in a very good way. Like I discovered another Sara from a parallel universe. Not a Sara I wanted to be every day, but at least for one day with joy. In the eve I could take off my hair and think about who I wanted to become the next day. The magic of wigs, a new world.

I just couldn’t resist the temptation to complete the look with this dress from Mukzin featuring a green monster from outer space, a floating space base and a frightened girl with a bob cut (do you see the link?). Whatever hair grows or lives on my head, I’ll never stop being nerdy!

People who saw me with my wig told me I look more approachable and softer than with my bob cut, so actually less alien. I think it was meant as a compliment, but sorry guys: I don’t have the intention to look like I’m everybody’s cup of tea. I’m fine with being an oddity in your space system. The right people will understand, appreciate and be just as odd as me so we can celebrate each other’s oddness.

It has been a long time since I cut my long blond wavy hair. So in a way, wearing this wig is like time travelling: An exciting tale in the life of Rapunzel from outer space! But beware: Sara’s bob will be back by tomorrow and you can be curious about what comes next!

Coster Copenhagen green silk vinyl

Are you one of those people who always think that the grass is greener on the other side and that there is a better life to be lived somewhere else? I have news for you: Not any more, cause I rediscovered green and make the grass the greenest here!

I always liked green, but in the recent years there was no green wave going through my wardrobe, I don’t know why since it goes well with my pink hair. Suddenly last month, not one, but four green items moved in with me. In this look, I included two: My velvet jacket from Coster Copenhagen and my Moschino dollar bag. The start of a green time or just the completion of the rainbow? We’ll see!

I totally feel the colour green, it’s relaxing calmness, connection to nature and health. What I don’t understand is peoples imagination going wild and imagine that there is a mystical other side where the grass is greener.

Do you really think there is another life somewhere out there that is better, another even bigger love, another dream to dream, another sun to shine on your skin? I believe this is nonsense if you have the luck to be born in a safe country. Do you want greener grass? Then take care of your garden and it will become greener!

Start from where you are and with the people who are loyal to you and went through everything with you, but most important: Start in your own head. Stop longing for a mystery and start to live your life and turn it into that magic place! At first, it might just be a tiny little moment, a smile you cause or receive, something you did for the first time. Then you go on and do the next and the next until you discover that you don’t need another side. All you need is yourself to grow the greenest grass ever!

Last time when I was at the art museum, we discussed the endless question about what defines art. It’s one of those questions that can fill heavy books, but our guide came up with a simple yet fabulous answer: Art needs a frame!

Of course, the answer is too simplified to be taken seriously, but it brought a smile to my face and still lingers in my thoughts. This makes it a very good answer. It might be no coincidence, that I decided to frame myself with my earrings: So what do you say, am I art now?

The other inspiration for this look is certainly Moschino’s SS20 collection that is dedicated to Picasso and his muses. Jeremy Scott created a wild mix of art and fashion and I love how he turns the models into graceful walking artworks. The collection shows the human being as a canvas and that describes very well how I see myself as well: My own canvas that I carry with me all the time, allowing me to define and express who I am day after day. I can jump from surrealism, to dadaism to pop art and baroque, all in the span of a few days. It’s almost like time travelling, the magic of fashion.

If you would have asked me as a girl what I want to become when I grow up I would have said an Egyptologist or a muse. My idea about the life of a muse was rather naive. I imagined it means to look pretty and to be in the presence of artists so they get inspired to create. I thought it’s an incredible and amazing thing if a person possesses the power to inspire somebody to create just with their personality and look. Some kind of ultimate compliment to a woman.

“Yes, she is a muse and she is framed,
so she must be art! “

When I keep thinking about it longer, I realise that my romantic wish kind of came true, since I am blessed with the gift of inspiring people. I wear clothes amazing designers sometimes just make for me without being asked. I got painted a lot of times. Magazine covers bear my face and a lot of people write to me that they changed their style because of me. So, 11-year-old Sara: Yes, you’d be proud of me, look at my wardrobe in awe and say “Yes, she is a muse and she is framed, so she must be art! “

Reminder to myself: Think of this next time you are afraid of not being good enough.

Wearing the print of the moment – dalmatian – makes me think about Cruella de Vil. Growing up in the 90s, Cruella was probably the first strong and independent female character I remember. She is lead by her desire for fashion (in her case an illegal fur coat) and liking her was a rebellious thing: She is not at all the kind of role model my parents wanted me to have. But as a grown-up woman, I must say I’m probably more Cruella then Disney princess.

Just like Cruella, fashion is my life and I’d not go over corpses (neither animal nor human) for my dream handbag, but it’s the fashion that excites me unlike anything else. Cruella’s short halted breath when she unwrapped her fur coat could as well be something I feel when I open a Moschino box. Unlike me, Cruella is a nasty woman, but what we have in common is independence in our actions and a strong will to make our dreams come true. Cruella (lucky her) found a partner who supports her in this, I am just a one-woman show, without even pets.

We are both the kind of woman that is rarely displayed in the media, I suspect it’s because we are uncomfortable and not living the life of a married woman, we take care of our wardrobe instead of screaming kids and laugh at the world when we have a new pair of shoes in our hands. This is not what earns a lot of applause: Even in our diverse society, I think the majority of people still appreciates women who go the classical way, get married, have kids and plant a tree with their husband. I often hear people admiring this kind of woman. But when did I ever hear somebody saying “Oh you independent women don’t have an easy life neither, you have to handle all by yourself and it’s so much you do”. Never, right? Yes exactly, that’s my point. Cruellas don’t get praise.

Lucky Cruella can be ok with that: She has her husband to go home to and her perfect coat, her world is at peace. I have, well…. A lot of fashion dreams in my closet but open the door to my apartment every day to find dark silence waiting there. If I want to have a surprise I have to work hard for it and then order it myself, if I mess up things I have to fix them, no knight ready to save me and nobody there to hug me when I cry at home after a frustrating day. This is what being independent means. But it also means everything I am and everything I achieved is here because of my own efforts.

I work at a design agency as a creative director 40+ hours a week, run my blog, organise shootings, edit my pictures, teach young graphic designers, go to the gym twice a week and attend a lot of events. I have friends I love to the moon and back and a big network of social contacts. I am happy with all the variety and excitement that this life I created has to offer and don’t take it for granted. Nevertheless, I feel frustrated too often about having dinner alone, about dragging home groceries and cursing my inability to carry heavy weights and about experiencing a wonderful full moon on my terrace and getting melancholic because I’d wish to share the experienced beauty so very much. But most of all I get sad that people rarely see that being alone doesn’t mean just daily party and no work.

Independence is a very ambivalent thing and if it’s love or hate can’t be answered by multiple-choice answers. Sometimes I’m happy, sometimes I’m not. When not I might treat myself with a lavish gift and have that Cruella expression on my face when I open the box and just know: It’s all mine.
