In January I was soooo determined to turn myself into a better version of myself, take the best care of myself, eat healthily, do sports and relax as often as possible. I already saw this healthy future Super Sara in front of me when I closed my eyes. But then came February and March, both months proved to be quite stressful, and I lost a part of my energy and determination. When this La Petite Box arrived, it was just the right thing to remind me of my goals.

This edition of the Swiss monthly subscription box has the theme “Energy” and is curated by Lara Schurter, founder of greenlane. If you are looking for premium natural cosmetics, you should visit this shop in Zurich or their online shop. I am among their regular customers and love to discover exciting natural products there. Lara’s determination to find the best quality products for her customers with a strong focus on sustainability and ethics is genuinely inspiring. But let’s have a look at the box:

What I found in my box

Ahava Dead Sea Water Mineral Hand Cream
A light and hydrating hand cream enriched with the power of the Dead Sea water. Hand creams are something you find in almost every goodie bag and therefore I have a whole box, but Ahava’s bestseller is the best I tried in a long while and went straight into my handbag..

Teatox Skinny Morning
A blend of organic green tea and mate to start the day. Teatox says that beauty begins from within and provides a kick-start into the day with this tea. As a tea lover, I am all in! Mate is just the best replacement for caffeine available.

Bodhi Coconut Soap
Deliciously smelling soap, handmade using traditional methods of soapmaking. I use this one as a wardrobe refresher; now my clothes smell like they come from a tropical island 😀

Yoho Fitness Tracker
This waterproof tracker measures your steps and blood pressure, counts calories and watches over your sleep. Unfortunately, I found the instruction manual not that helpful and couldn’t use any other functions but the step counter. But at least I do finally know that my need for a wearable is not as big as I thought and choose to trust my guts instead of an app.

Seagret Pomegranate Body Lotion
Only the best ingredients are used to create this beautiful body cream. It’s a restorative blend of Dead Sea minerals and perfect for all skin types.

Vitamin Well Awake
A new beverage from Vitmanin Well and yaaaay: It’s the nicest shade of pink. Unlike other drinks, Vitamin Well is not full of sugar but quenches your thirst with raspberry flavour, vitamins, and caffeine. I looooove it and need more!

RooBar Mango Magic
An energy bar with a fruity mix of mango, banana, and cashew. It’s vegan, glutenfree and light, so just the kind of snack I like.

What I think about the Energy box

Yesyesyes, a winner! I prefer natural products whenever I can, so this box is a winner.  As a little extra there was even a 20% voucher for greenlane in the box which I already used to get eye and sun cream. Thank you very much, La Petite Box!

I read in a fashion magazine that “Bathleisure” is the Instagram trend right now and that Rita Ora invented it last November. when she appeared on the red carpet dressed like she came right from the shower. I laughed out loud because I had some pictures planed and taken before that featuring just everything this “trend” needs. But since I am the slowest blogger on earth I didn’t manage to finish my article before.

For those who don’t know yet, let me explain what Bathleisure is: The word itself is a combination of “bath” and “athleisure”. Athleisure describes workout clothes that are worn lounging around. Bathleisure is a very similar thing, a towel on your head is the star. To style the perfect Bathleisure look you combine your towel with a bikini top, heavy makeup and huge statement sunglasses (or accessories). It instantly makes you look like a true leisure girl and like you are constantly on holidays.

I love it since this is basically what I wear every day before I dry my hair and wearing a towel in my hair makes me always feel like the crowned queen of casual. Stars like Rita Ora, Leandra Medine, Rihanna or Emily Ratajkowski must agree because they are all on the Bathleisure bandwagon. What caught my eyes in their pictures: All of them wear white or rather plain towels and I think my gorgeous pompom towel tops it all. It’s from ZigZagZurich and woven on old looms in Turkey, only in small quantities.

Even if I am more a working girl than a leisure girl, I agree there is nothing more relaxing than a hot bath. It’s my treat after workouts and one of my favourite moments of the week. Recently I discovered the products from t by tetesept and they are my bath buddies since then. No wonder since they smell deliciously of pink orchid and ylang-ylang or (now you have to listen) CHAMPAGNE and PEARLS, I feel like a rainbow version of Dita Teese in a huge cocktail glass taking a bath and finally, it seems pretty comfy to do absolutely nothing for a while.

Let’s talk about something I never did so far: The difficulties of meeting other bloggers. As an introvert person (some people might be surprised to hear, but that’s just because I work very hard on being outgoing) meeting new people is a little challenge for me every time. It’s not that I don’t enjoy company or don’t like people. But as an ex-mobbing victim, I never entirely lost the fear of people disliking me and maybe even reacting nastily. It’s nowhere as bad as it used to be, thanks to many positive encounters.

Here comes the but: Meeting other bloggers is sometimes a tough test for my confidence. While there are a lot of lovely, friendly blogger girls with hearts full of girl power, I also experienced discouraging reactions.

I met bloggers who immediately checked out my Instagram account after saying hello and lost interest in any conversation when their number of followers was higher than mine. There are some bloggers I regularly see who don’t ever greet, not even if I take the first step. Blogging seems not just a world of pretty pictures, but as well a world of competition. Isn’t it sad? Isn’t there space for more than one blogger and wouldn’t we all benefit from being supportive and kind?

I refuse to join the ranks of competition, and I work hard on not losing faith in myself after every negative encounter. If we meet at an event in the future, please say hello and let’s have a good time together! I don’t care how much followers you have, but I am interested what kind of a person you are and would like to know where your creativity lies and what drives you. Let’s have a glass of sparkling wine together and turn a blogger business event into an evening with friends. After all, we share a big, big passion and I think there must be a lot we could talk about. Thank you and cheers.

Before the first flowers sprout in the gardens, Mademoiselle by Azzaro brings the smell of spring onto your skin. This perfume is a light, fruity-floral Eau de Toilette. It greets you with sweet peach and fresh mandarin blossom, followed by jasmine, peony and orange blossom. Then it finally caresses you with a blend of orris and precious wood notes.

The woman I see wearing Mademoiselle is a young chic Parisian beauty with a gentle heart. Her head is full of dreams of romance, and she has a playful soul. Her smile is bedazzling, and the wind plays with her long hair while she spends mild spring eves in the parks of her beloved Paris enjoying the sun.

Maybe she wears a pretty bow in her hair, just like the silver satin ribbon on the bottle. Did I mention how stunning the jewel-like bottle with the powdery pink liquid is?

It’s an eye-catcher in every boudoir, and if you are looking for a spring fragrance, I think you should give Mademoiselle a try and travel to Paris with a spritz.

I have a gold rush, and it got delivered right to my doorstep yay! Since you all know how much I do love subscription boxes, you can imagine how much I liked to open the parcel with the Boxmopolitan logo.

Boxmopolitan is a Swiss discovery box that brings you every month five to seven surprise products. It’s like having a personal shopping coach that goes trend hunting for you and finds the most unique cool products. Unlike many other subscription boxes, Boxmopolitan doesn’t feed you with boring mainstream products.

It’s their mission as curators to introduce you to new items and they pay particular attention to organic ingredients, fair trade, local manufacturing and design quality. Gourmet is always an essential part of the surprises. One box costs 69.90 CHF, if you place a subscription for a few months, the price for the single boxes starts at 49.90 CHF.

What I found in my box

Sparkling wine by Elfenhof
Packed in a golden bar box, this dry sparkling wine has a fruity bouquet from the most excellent grapes of the Neusiedler Lake region in Austria and is enriched with real gold. Quite an eyecatcher on the table and the perfect drinks for lovers of prosecco and champagne like myself.

Golden Light candle by Yankee Candle
I believe home is not home without a vanilla candle and this one smells just good enough to eat with its chocolate-vanilla fragrance. It burns for 30 beautiful hours and makes my flat instantly cozier.

Gottlieber Wafers Special Edition Gianduja Orange
Swiss wafers with a filling of roasted hazelnuts and chocolate, enriched with fruity oranges. Since I am plant-based, they are not for me, but I bet my boyfriend will make them disappear entirely fast.

Woman in Gold and Gold Knight by Kilian
The only samples in the box are those two perfumes. Wish they were bigger because I love them very much. Woman in Gold is a fragrance with rose petals, vanilla, akigala wood and patchouli. Gold knight bedazzles the senses with patchouli, bergamot, vanilla, and anise. Both smell of luxury and I dream of a big bottle of Woman in Gold.

Lux Hair Oil by System Professional
A luxury hair oil with argan, jojoba and almond oil. My stressed hair loves this treat and sends it thanks. Since argan oil is known as liquid gold in Marocco, a perfect addition to the Gold Rush box.

Gold Glitter Gel by Ucanbe
A glitter makeup for face and body in dazzling gold. I used it as an eyeliner several times already and love it, it dries fast, stays where it should and is easy to remove.

A 10 CHF Voucher from Perfect Hair
I buy my shampoo and hairspray from PerfectHair.ch since I remember. Therefore this voucher is something I can use very well. They have (almost) everything I am looking for, fast delivery and reasonable prices.

What I think about the Gold Rush box

I love the Gold Rush box and think what you get for the price is a very fair deal for getting so much inspiration. I discovered exciting products I didn’t know before, my favourites are the sparkling wine, the Kilian perfumes, and the makeup glitter. Thank you so much Boxmopolitan!

I am curious to see what’s in the next Boxmotolitain boxes, and if you love surprises, you should join the gang.

Bloggers from Paris, London and New York have one significant undeniable advantage: They live in cities with a fashion week and therefore are at the pulse of our most beloved industry. Fashion week, the time of the year when all eyes turn the same way and whoever has a say in fashion has its picture taken walking in extravagant looks through puddles showing an “I don’t care” attitude. This fashion week it’s Alexander Wang’s last show in New York, Bottega Veneta leaves Milan and goes big apple, JW Anderson goes co-ed, and I am sure we will all be talking about Balenciaga. So much buzz!

It seems like everybody is excited, on their feet and having their heart beating with the pumping sounds of the shows. Everybody? No, almost everybody but one: Sara is at home in good old Zurich, watching shows with untidy hair in bed on her computer and doing some compensation shopping on Farfetch. Great! Just like every year I get invitations to shows in Berlin, London and New York (ok never the big ones, but rather the quirky ones that I love most anyway) but let’s face it: I can’t just take off from my busy work life as a design director and spend a fortune on flights to get from a 20 minute show to NY to the next 20 minute show in London. After all, Sara is a reasonable girl, and I admit: Taking the liberty not to brush the hair on a Sunday is priceless too.

Supermarket and local Lebanese you can be happy: Otherwise you would never see me wearing my crazy stuff visiting you. I didn’t make it to New York, but hey:
I can make it everywhere 😉

Dear Winter, I am very sorry but I think we just don’t fit together and therefore I have to end our relationship. I tried to work on it very hard, but I just can’t forget to think about spring. It feels like cheating on you, and you don’t deserve that. I hope you will understand what I try to explain. My feelings for spring are just too strong.

When I think about springs tender blossoms, the beautiful pastel colours, and the smooth, warm daylight… Oh, I am sorry, I don’t want to rub salt into your wounds (it might only melt your snow), my mind was wandering. I saw myself going for a stroll wearing this pink and yellow look. Have you seen the shoes with the cute birds and the necklace with the cute golden bees? Maybe it’s better you don’t, but start to look somewhere else and find somebody who loves you from the bottom of the heart.
I hope we can still be friends and say hello to each other when we meet again. You are terrific, but just not meant for me. I fear this is life. Thank you very much and goodbye.

Be prepared: Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Time to get in a romantic mood, write love letters and spread flower petals! Maybe you even hope to get a shining ring as a gift because diamonds are a girl’s best friend? I don’t because I just got one and it’s not any ring, but the ring of rings: An infinitely changeable jewel.

mood is an innovative, customizable unisex ring designed and made in Switzerland. It brings you endless possibilities of combination and allows you to express yourself playfully. Every ring consists of a two-part steel base and a central ring called addon that can be exchanged. Just as your look and mood changes, your ring will change with you and be perfect for every occasion. And the best: You can add pieces over the time.

Since pink is my black, my first addon had to be pink of course! I went for a pretty aluminum addon. But you know what a rainbow I am: I plan to have a whole box full of addons to have the right one for every look and outfit. Dear Valentine, why don’t you bring me the next addon instead of another ring?

You do not see double: I am two Lolita (or almost three)! No, they are not standing next to each other holding hands and wearing both the same like the twins in Shining. Both are one: I am twice (or even close to three times) the age of sweet teenage Lolita from Vladimir Nabokov’s book, but still, in love with heart-shaped glasses!

Just like the novel about the middle-aged professor and his obsession with a young girl is a classic, me wearing heart-shaped glasses is. I had my first pair when I was probably four or five. My mother might have bought them in a souvenir shop during our family holidays, I can’t remember for sure. What I do remember is how proud I was and how I liked to wear them.
Nowadays my latest pair has a Saint Laurent tag on them, and I couldn’t but fall for their retro-cat-eye-chic. I was on the hunt for them for a long while and so lucky when they were finally mine. There are so many fakes popping up everywhere, but I wanted the Saint Laurents, the real thing. I think they are a wonderful pair with this luxurious red cashmere coat from Swiss label M.Luna and the cute Hello Kitty shoes. A playful cute look, but as well with a grown-up air of luxury and good craftsmanship.
Next season, heart-shaped glasses might be so out of fashion, but I’ll stick to them. They are an essential part of my style and I’ll never grow too old to wear them.
The number of Lolitas inside of me might keep growing, but that’s ok!

Winter and me, we will never be friends. Since we got introduced, we have arguments about the minimum temperature necessary for human life on the planet. When it comes to style we have don’t agree either: I plead for wearing heels all year while Winter is more on the boots side. Therefore the La Petite Box „Home Sweet Home“ edition hit my nerve: The subscription box was filled with essentials for cocooning during the cold days. Sorry Winter, we will not meet much this year (bet you will not miss me and my grumpy face when my shoes get covered in mud).

So let’s have a closer look, what do we need for a cozy day at home? Good tea, a lovely cup, lights and a notebook to write down dreams and poetry. All of this was in the box and more. I am in love with the porcelain cup from Mea Living with its pink star pattern. I wanted to have a cute cup for ages since I think it’s time to stop the madness of discarding takeaway cups after every drink. Since I don’t drink coffee, I am happy there was organic luxury tea from Sirocco in the box. Sirocco is one of my favourite tea labels, yay!

In case winter wins our argument about footwear and makes me buy shoes there was a 20% voucher from ShoeLovers Club by Ochsen shoes in the box, I bet they have a lot of boots. But at the moment I rather sit home with the starlight from Heidi Swaps and use my pink YES notebook to create my first Zentangles. Zentangle is a method of drawing abstract patterns as a method to relax. ommmmmm! While I enjoy the coconut goodies from the box, I feel suddenly pleased and warm. After trying the flowery Missoni products which smell of freesia, peony, and rosyfolia, summer found it’s way back into my heart.

Yes, this is one of my favourite La Petite Boxes yet, because it came with healthy vegan snacks and drinks and the cup was a wishlist item and most important: It keeps winter away.
