We can enjoy the afternoon in this pink garden.

Wow look at all the pink trees outside, isn’t it breathtaking? Pink has always been one of my favourite colours. There was a time, back at School of Arts, long, long time ago, when I dressed in no other colour. I am not that singleminded anymore, but pink occupies still a big space in my heart. My heart started to beat faster when I saw the flower trees outside and I just had to be the pink girl under the pink tree. My outfit is a lot of vintage inspired, I feel like a modest 50s housewife from an advertisement. This image of a woman fascinates me, always pretty, with a bright smile and perfect nails and makeup.

My skirt is indeed made from an original vintage pattern. After discovering this skirt, I couldn’t get it out of my head again. The shape is just perfect and I love the silhouette it makes. I bought it at The Black Pinafore, it’s the Etsy Store from Debora, a lovely dress maker from Italy. She is a diploma costume designer and loves the 40s and 50s. I could just send her my measurements and she made this wonderful skirt for me. I was able to choose the fabric, buttons and length of the skirt. When it arrived I was very pleased, because it fits perfectly and looks even more beautiful than I expected. I just had to wear it, go outside with it as fast as possible and show it to you surrounded by this dreamy location. I am always surprised again and again, how close from the city beautiful places like this exist. It looks like I am in an enchanted garden at the countryside, but it’s just a few steps away from the big apartment blocks of the city. Even a cat wanted to be part of my pictures and she was very stubborn in staying exactly under the same tree I wanted to take my pictures. But I think she just made the pictures perfect.

I hope you enjoy spring as much as I do my lovelies. What do you think about this outfit?

Finally it’s time to introduce a lovely label again: Let me tell you about Miss Lovett, an amazing German label, specialized in rocking and sweet fashion. The label was founded 2011 in Mannheim and is successfully growing since then. The two designers Deborah Brehm and Nina Kiil are the creative minds behind Miss Lovett. Supported by a little team of tailors, they create and sew their very feminine and cheeky clothes. Everything they sell is handmade in Germany and will definitely make the heart of modern Rockabilly and Pin-Up girls beat faster. Fashion from Miss Lovett is produced in small series and if you order something, it will be handmade with love especially for you. Therefore, every piece of Miss Lovett, is something special and unique.

Miss Lovett’s newest masterstroke is an exciting collection, called “A Kiss From Miss Ivi”. It was made in collaboration with the German tattoo and pinup model Miss Ivi. My germanophone readers might know her from the TV show “Goodbye Deutschland – Die Auswanderer” on VOX, where she shows her life in Switzerland after emigrating from her home country Germany. The blond Miss Ivi with her endless legs, her colourful tattoos and her winning smile is a wonderful choice as face and inspiration. The clothes of her collection are as sweet as herself and just perfect for summer. There is a lot of turquoise, which awakes dreams of relaxing in a swimming pool and eating ice cream on holiday. Wild leopard prints and sexy red are important parts of the collection as well. I wish I had the whole collection, because I can’t decide for a favourite. I bet wearing this fashion makes any girl feel a little bit like beautiful Miss Ivi.

Please take a visit to Miss Lovett’s online store, have a look at their wonderful fashion and tell me about your favourite pieces. In case you fell in love with something head over heel: They ship worldwide and turn you instantly into a 50s beauty. I can’t wait to try it out on myself neither.

Miss Lovett, Logo, Rockabilly, Vintage
Hello, nice to meet you, I am Lovely Sara.
My world is full of hearts, bows and polka dots.
I love red lipstick and feel the happiest with a big bow on my head.
Bilder hochladen
My heart beats for fashion.
I love all the colours, but a vibrant red always makes me dance.
I am obsessed with jelly shoes and want to look lovely from head to toe all the time.

When I started my blog, the first thing I did was to design a logo. The little comic icon I created includes the most characteristic things of my look: My bob haircut with fringe, a big bow headband and red lips. I added a big heart as a symbol for my never ending love for creative fashion.

The icon is me and I am the icon. I think I didn’t just create it, but it also shaped me. I began to turn more and more into Lovely Sara. Therefore it’s strange, I never showed an outfit post dressed like the Logo-Sara. I am very delighted, I can finally do this and say: Hello, nice to meet you, I am Lovely Sara. I love all the colours of the rainbow and my style is full of many influences from the 50s to Japanese Street Styles to Pop Culture, but this look (you might call it the “Lovely Sara Look”) is always a favourite. I feel very well dressed with a big bow and a polka dot dress and I think it’s visible on the pictures. The look is a little bit Minnie Mouse inspired with a retro touch. I can’t explain, but wearing bows makes me happy. This one in shiny PVC from The Velvet Village especially.

Being Lovely Sara feels like what I always wanted to be. It’s the result of an uncompleted, but already very long journey. When I was a teenager I didn’t know as much is I do now about who I really am.  I think most people are not born with their style, but their taste and understanding of style is growing and getting more particularly over the years. Style needs experience. Another thing I learned since I am a teenager is to expect that there is no stereotypic me, but I am made of thousands of facets and can’t be put into a box. When I was younger, I always tried to fit myself into a box, because I thought this would tell me where I do belong. Am I a goth, a punk, a vintage vixen? It was a long journey to see, that I am neither. I am a Minnie Mouse today, the next day a colourful circus performer, a pink flamingo girl or an elegant retro lady. Being so many different things doesn’t mean to loose myself, like I was afraid at first, but it is who I really am. I think people are not made to fit into a box, but to be a mixture of millions of things, made by their individual story. Like a complex menu with many ingredients and spices to create a unique taste. I don’t wear the Lovely Sara Look every day, but I am always Lovely Sara, changing and turning more into my real me.

How do you like the “Lovely Sara Look”?

Otherwise I come running to you.

Everything I wear today (except the earrings) is bought from or in the UK. I just miss London so much at the moment and would love to go there right now if i could. I named this post after a song from Kate Bush, my favourite singer and one of the biggest British icons. This eccentric lady is just unlike any other pop star and that makes her perfect in my eyes. I couldn’t get her song “Rubberband Girl” out of my head, while having on my latex accessories. I am so delighted and need to tell you more about what I am wearing:

For ages I was dreaming of owning a little piece of Atsuko Kudo. I love the work of the UK based fashion designer from Japan. She calls her work “Couture Latex Design” and creates the most amazing rubber clothes and accessories. People who still believe, latex is something to be found only in erotic shops, are proven wrong. Among the clients of Atsuko Kudo are stars like Lady Gaga, Dita von Teese or Katy Perry. Finally it is my turn to present a little Atsuko Kudo treasure. I can’t call myself the proud owner of a custom made dress, but look at my gloves and this adorable bow choker! I love how shiny and smooth the material is. I must say the gloves are no piece for everyday wear, because it is not so easy to get in and out of them and impossible without the help of a lube. The bow chocker on the other hand is definitely a piece which will be seen on many of my future looks. I am already lusting after going back to Atsuko Kudo’s store and treat myself with more goodies. They have the most beautiful collars you have ever seen and their headwear is causing envy.

I went for a beautiful dress from Collectif to combine my accessories with. I saw this dress in their shop and knew without trying that I need it. The colour is wonderful and I love the elegant look of it. If you have a few dresses like this in your wardrobe, it is very easy to dress. A dress like this doesn’t need a lot to go with it, it looks just so elegant on its own. I continue to listen to more Kate Bush now and hope you like this outfit.

Did you ever wear latex and do you love Atsuko Kudo too?

With this warm boots, the play outside can go on for hours.

Despite my longing for spring, it’s still winter and I want to show you another winter look. I couldn’t resist to show you my new cat bag from the Japanese label Ahcahcum with this outfit, I think it is one of my best latest purchases. My love for cats is without boundaries and I can never resist cat themed fashion or accessories. I grew up with a lot of cats. I loved to stroke their soft fur for hours and when I was sad, they comforted me. I wish I could have a cat again in the future. Meanwhile I am happy with visiting my mother and her cats and equipping myself with cat accessories.

Because the cat bag brings a lot of cuteness into the outfit and is a big eye catcher, I decided to go for a rather plain outfit in black and red. The look is a little bit fifties inspired with the petticoat and the hat, but the boots and tights bring in a modern touch. I am a big fan of the fake fur collar, it keeps me wonderful warm and I think it is far more ladylike than a scarf. It was a gift from lovely Tessa from Fashionresister, one of my dear blogger friends. We share a lot, like our love for Lazy Oaf, everything from Egypt and Kate Rohde. When we decided to send each other gifts, I was not surprised she sent me things I loved. She must have some superpowers, because the collar fits perfectly to the hat I bought just before I got her parcel and she couldn’t have known about. Hat and collar make a very elegant couple. Another love Tessa and me share, is for beautiful tights. So I was inspired to not go for opaque ones, like I do wear very often during the cold days, but choose more cheeky ones. It was less freezing than I thought it might be. What you can’t see: I am hiding warm socks in my boots.

I tried new makeup as well: For the first time, I use different colours for my upper and lower lip. I have seen this kind of makeup on other pages and liked it. The bright red from my lower lips fits to my earrings, the burgundy red resembles hat and collar. I used long-lasting lipsticks, I think with normal lipsticks the two colours might mix. I was wearing it for the whole day and it stayed very well, even after eating a lot of popcorn at the cinema. I think the people wouldn’t have noticed anyway: They were busy looking at my cat bag, with big eyes.

What do you think about this look? Are you a cat lover too?

Frilled Socks are a big love of mine. They make you feel instantly girly, you all should try!

Let’s talk about something we never did before: Body shapes. When I was a teenager, I was very thin and lived with the sweet illusion to have a body not unlike the ladies in the glossy magazines. Then I grew into a woman with bold curves, a very tiny waist and wide hips. I always accepted myself the way I am and believe that every body shape has it’s own beauty. But let’s face it: Your shape is responsible for what you wear to a good part. A girl like me for example just doesn’t look good in skinny jeans, while not all my clothes might look well on someone with a completely different shape.

I started talking about this now for a special reason: My outfit from Collectif. I am not a 50s girl from head to toe as you all know, but there has always been a strong influence of the 50s in my style. A lot of the clothes from this time are very flattering for curvy girls and that’s one reason why I love them. To my delight, nowadays there are a lot of beautiful shops selling 50s inspired clothes. Collectif is one of my very favourite ones and has an amazing selection of feminine, flattering clothes. I love the skirt called Liesel, I’m wearing on the picture. It’s a circle skirt with detachable braces. You can believe me, there is nothing as beautiful as a circle skirt for a curvy body! It shows a tiny waist in the best light and doesn’t interfere with wide hips. You can wear it with a petticoat or without. If you leave out the petticoat, it will look less dramatic. I think I’ll wear it that way for work.

My top is from Collectif too and called Freddie. It’s a classic 50s style knitted top and a perfect match for the skirt. It has an adorable floral knit pattern and the pearl buttons add elegance to the look. The colour is so pretty. It’s a little bit like mint, but darker. It makes me dream of mermaids, deep under the sea. Collectif gave this colour the beautiful name “antique green”.

Maybe because my thoughts about King Neptun and his beautiful daughters, I didn’t wear high heels but waterproof, cheeky jelly booties from Mel. I feel very well dressed like this. I catch a lot of people staring at my skirt with shining eyes. I think this look is elegant, but not over the top. It’s just perfect for having a cup of tea with my girlfriends and a big piece of cake to please my curves.

What are your thoughts about this look and did you know Collectif already?
How do you feel about your body shape and what suits it best?

I wish you all a wonderful New Year’s Eve ! I do have a little story about this special day just for you: Once, there was a girl, she dreamed of New Year’s Eve. She longed to wear an opulent outfit and have her darling take her out to an opulent party with all the luxury in the world. He would hold open the door for her and help her out of her fur cape. They would drink Champagne from crystal glasses and dance tight to the song “I’ll be seeing you” from Billie Holiday (just click play on the video at the bottom of the post and you will hear this song while you read). Later, they would watch the fireworks together and kiss each other while saying hello to the new year. They would look deep into each others eyes and promise to love each other forever.

I present you the outfit I imagine this girl could wear. It is a mix of new, old and vintage pieces: This beautiful dress I found at HM a few years ago. I think it would be perfect for this occasion with it’s elegant emerald green colour. If I combine it with the bolero from Viven of Holloway, I feel dressed well. The white vintage fake fur cape keeps warm and the beautiful hat from Collectif completes the look. Of course I am wearing the highest heels I own to make my legs as long as possible. This Bordello shoes are surprisingly comfortable if you consider their hight.

The brooch is a special piece from my beloved friends and fabulous designers Azumi and David from London. They are an incredibly lovely and charming couple and their designs often have a surprising or surreal touch. If you ever look for a special handbag, you should have a look at their heeled handbags. The bangle is from the Anna Dello Russo for HM collection to show my adoration for amazing Anna. The necklace is from my mother with a lot more adoration donated to this special woman.

I wish the girl in the story was me, but it is not this year. Maybe next year? The beauty of unfulfilled dreams is, you can continue dreaming. Unfortunately I am sick at home. I am glad that we took this pictures already last week, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to show you this look. So I go back and hide under my blankets and wish you all the best, have a lot of love and joy this night and in 2013! Thank you for reading my posts and all your lovely comments!

Snow, you can’t stop the mighty creepers!

Why do the naked trees always seem to be sad? Why can’t I stop missing the sound of the birds and the scent of the flowers? I am here, trying to bring a hint of purple and a couple of blossoms into this white winter world. For this mission, I made myself a big bold flower crown. It already had a few appearances on my head while I was in London. Many daring people asked me to try it on, even some male ones and complete strangers. I never got so many compliments for any other accessory before. If you have ever worn a crown like this, you will understand: Wearing it makes you feel different immediately. You become something between a saint and a queen. You can imagine being Virgin Mary, Frida Kahlo or Cicciolina, whoever inspires you most.

My new coat from Collectif enhances that feeling of elegance, my crown gives me. With its cosy fake fur collar I don’t even need a scarf. The buttons with the dried flowers inside, are somehow melancholic and romantic at the same time. They are like a little souvenir from past summer to me.

Before you ask if I don’t get frozen legs, I tell you a little secret: I do layer tights and wear up to three pairs of them on top of each other. Together with the socks, my legs are as comfortable as possible. But even dressed like this, I prefer to hurry inside as soon as possible. If I would be a product and come with a tag, on mine would be written “not for outdoor use” for sure. I always try to get excited about outdoor activities, but to be honest it’s more force than joy most of the time. I could sit forever on the sofa with a mug of hot tea, reading a gripping book on the other hand. Being outside is never the goal for me, but just a necessity on my way from A to B and for that I don’t need to dress up as a Yeti. I’ll be back in a cosy house before my flower crown is covered with snow anyway and I’m sure my brave little flowers appreciate this.

How do you like my flower crown and my new coat?

It’s more than a year since Amy Winehouse died. I always admired her remarkable voice, but more than that I loved the picture of her being in that beautiful house in Camden. Amy sitting in dusty bars and pubs, buying something late at night in a corner shop. Camden is one of my favourite parts of London and for me, Amy is a shining symbol of this place!

That’s why I couldn’t resist to buy a Amy Winehouse for Fred Perry knot blouse. I love the retro look of it. It shows pink Cadillacs, a kissing couple, records, music notes and dices, all drawn in a beautiful comic style. The Amy Winehouse Collection has been designed by Amy herself and was released after her death.

Camden is famous for it’s punk style. So I thought I needed at least one edgy piece to go with my outfit and chose a studded denim jacket. In the end, just something vintage was missing, cause there are many cool vintage shops in Camden too. In fact Camden is where I came to love vintage and discovered the first of this kind of shops. I choose an amazing polka dot skirt from Blenda Vintage (Zurich). It makes a wasp taille and I think it looks like it was made to be combined with the blouse.

I am especially proud of my glasses, because I decorated them myself after a DIY found on Honestly…WTF, my one and only favourite DIY blog. They are inspired by D&G’s fall collection and it’s very easy to make them on your own. I just ordered a pair of cat eye glasses on Ebay and some beautiful ceramic flowers on Etsy and used a little bit of glue to bring this things together. If you wanna have your own flower glasses as well, just go for plain glasses and keep in mind that they should have a broad frame.

Do I have any Amy Fans among my fans and what do you think about my outfit and glasses?

Is fashion something shallow? Do you loose sight of the truly important questions in life if you occupy your mind too much with how to dress? A lot of people would agree, but I am convinced by the opposite: My wardrobe is a place full of tales about love, joy, tears and unexpected happenings, just as my bookshelf. The difference is, that clothes don’t tell stories about Mr. Darcey, Romeo and Juliet or Gulliver. They remind me of what I experienced while wearing them.

There is the dress I wore when I met my one true love, very close to my grandmother’s ear muffs and the shirt from last christmas party with my all my beloved. My clothes are as well souvenirs from all the places I visited. They keep a little bit of the spirit of countries form all over the world in my closet.

My outfit today just arrived in my life and it still needs to find it’s story. But it’s not blank as a white sheet, even now it knows a lot about overcoming temptation as well as about taking the bait:
I was in love with this vintage dress, when I spotted it in the webshop of Dotti’s, but tried to resist until someone else snatched it away. Later I figured out, the one who ordered it was not another girl, eager to wear it for a glittering summer, party but my darling. He couldn’t resist to buy it for me and made my eyes sparkle when I opened the box.

With the shoes it’s a similar story: It’s no secret that I am absolutely crazy about Melissa shoes. I am addicted to their distinctive bubblegum scent and the shiny jelly material. I am always waiting for their new collections like a little child is waiting for Santa Claus. This ones have been among my favorites of the recent summer collection but I’ve just seen them once in a shop in London and already had a bunch of shopping bags on my arm. I was browsing through a lot of online shops for them afterwards without success. A few weeks ago, I got a lovely voucher from Mirapodo and had a look at their good choice of products. That was when I found the magical red shoes again, on sale and available in my size. No need to guess that I took the bait.

This shoes and the beautiful dress must be destined to carry me into a story like Dorothy’s adventures in Oz, don’t you think so? I wish all my readers the experience of beautiful stories as well!
