YRU, rainbow shoes, platform sandals
Rainbow feet may cause a sudden rush of inspiration, let’s try!
While I look like a Carmen Miranda version for beginners (or intermediate if the beholder is generous with me) I don’t have an idea what to write and stare at the screen. A colour bomb, but no explosion of words. Oh hello, writers block, I thought I’d never see you at my doorstep, but after three and a half years of blogging you finally found me. You even brought a gift: An inexistent idea of a topic to chat about, how lovely!

Is anyone interested in the musings of a fashion blogger or are you just here for pretty pictures? Does somebody even realise if I just use dummy text? Let’s make a test: If you read this, comment with “pink poodle”. Anybody? Please, please, please. You’ll be my ultimate hero if you tell me what topics you’d be interested to read about here.

Until then, I continue my search for the words I lost: Does it help to make a handstand? Maybe I better don’t try, shame on unathletic me… Half a day later: I cooked some homemade tortellini, tidied up my flat and repotted plants. Still no single word is written on my blank page, but at least my home benefits from this misery. Can it be so difficult to find a few words? No novel with a 1000 pages required so come on Sara!

The next day: Must have fallen asleep while trying to write something and finally I give up. May the words reappear till the next post. Enjoy the colourful look in the meanwhile and appreciate that I talked rather visually than linguistically.

Show me your back: The best looks are lovely no matter from what angle you look at them.

Do you know that feeling when you put on a very special piece, and you just feel very beautiful immediately – closest to the feeling of being a goddess you ever get? While I don’t consider myself as more than average looking, this is what happened when I dressed for this look. The headdress is magic made by the talented hands of my beloved Pearls & Swine, and I fell head over heels for this kimono from Quiz Clothing.

I am playing with the tassels and love how they move in the wind. For once I am even wearing a black dress, do you see? But it wouldn’t be me if I wouldn’t have mixed it with a lot of colours and quirky accessories.

On days you don’t feel good at all, it’s a magical weapon to put on an outfit like this. It might change your day. It also inspired me to the spontaneous act of dying my hair lilac. I love the colour; the only disadvantage is that it turns rather blue when it fades. Because of this I’m going to return to my beloved pink very soon, but for today’s look the lilac was the final touch to add a mystical note to the look.
What do you think about this look lovelies?

Pink Dreams: Loving every detail of this fascinator. It’s just perfection!

Rome wasn’t built in a day, this counts for this look as well. Ladies, you are finally welcome to see the look that took the longest time to be presented in the story of this blog. Every detail of the look, from shoes to accessories, was already set crystal clear in my mind for weeks, but almost like a conspiracy something seemed to prevent me from making it happen. The most annoying part of the story was, when the fascinator got lost in the post, somewhere between Germany and Switzerland. Oh, how I glared at the post man like a murder doll…

But finally the pictures are shot, the outfit looks as I imagined. Sometimes my outfit posts make me jump from my chair with joy because I think I created something I didn’t manage before. More harmony, more edginess, a colour combination better than a rainbow… But usually it doesn’t last long. It’s a big hunger inside me; the demanding desire to create new looks. I wonder where it comes from: Why do I need more flamingos in my life, why can’t I just be happy with ten skirts in my wardrobe instead of being the biggest supporter of pollution and carrying bag after bag of new stuff home? Why?

I seriously don’t know. I just love you; big monster called fashion. I love to be the most ridiculous girl in the eyes of people who wouldn’t dare to wear red shoes. So I keep on going on my highest heels. Today, this is my perfect look, but wait: Can I beat it with the next? I hope so, and I try. It’s already in my head…

Sending you a lot of flamingo love till then. I am very happy if you tell me how you like this look.

Dreamy Mood: Pastels are definitely good for my mood.

Probably the only moment in life when everything is blank is the second after birth. In this single instant, everything is open and possible. Later on, you start realizing that you have to make millions of decisions, every minute, every second. A lot of them are very simple ones – like where do you want to have lunch or if you prefer the cinema or the art museum.

Sometimes even those decisions have unexpected side effects: Taking the tube instead of the bus could lead into meeting an amazing person that will change your life. Who are you, who am I, but a mishmash of millions of decisions? Thinking about all this data you have to deal with, the human brain appears as a super computer, doesn’t it?

People are born into a specific culture and with their very own unique skills. Knowing what we can’t and can sometimes provide the feeling of just following the path of what was given to us. I say this is just one page of the story. You are your very own artist, constantly choosing colours and painting your life story.

Decisions close doors and open new ones. Don’t underestimate them, not even the apparently simple ones. I choose to wear my pastel kimono today; this might change your opinion about me. Maybe you are here for the very first time, and your impression about me has been made according to this look. I believe that my day could have turned out differently with another outfit. Maybe not significant, but just a little.

I wonder what adventures the kimono will bring me today.
My decision of the day: I don’t say no to any colour, but just wear them all.

Let’s end the look with Lagerfeld’s ice cream, wouldn’t we?

Quirkiness, what a magical word in my ears! The days I wake up, look in the mirror and think “Gosh, I feel sooooooooo quirky today!” are by far my favourite days. I feel creative, when I dress quirky. The liberty of expressing myself with my looks is dear to me – I think quirkiness is the word that should be written on top of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. It’s the ultimate form of self-fulfilment! Call me crazy, but sometimes I can’t sleep because my mind won’t stop creating new looks. The crazier they are, the more happy they make me and I think I just begun. Fashion is the icing on my cake. Eat the cake, never stop to love fashion!

I feel like a queen today, wearing jewellery from Thai designer Kanokkorn Lamlert. Since I saw her unique pieces for the first time, I knew that my inner magpie wouldn’t rest until I have some of them. They look even prettier in real than on the pictures, I can tell you. The details are amazing and I truly adore the colours and shapes. You all know my fondness for Asian designers and Kanokkorn is an especially rare pearl among them.

Wearing Lagerfeld shoes makes me think about Karl. He’s got his Choupette, I have my pink bunny. Jazzafine just knows what I like: A cuteness overdose in pink. I declare Easter for the whole year, bunnies just can’t be restricted to a few days of the year!

Thanks a lot to all the amazing designers out there who make my quirky dreams come true! Now I’m curious: What is your quirkiest outfit and can you beat me in quirkiness?

On a stroll through Brick Lane a while ago, I discovered the outstanding headwear of The Headmistress in a pop up store. After a lovely chat with the designer I was convinced that not just the hats, but as well the maker is very sweet and charming.

The Headmistress was launched by London based designer Samantha Cousins in 2012. Samantha says that her love for hats started already when she was four with the creation of an Easter Bonnet for a school assembly. She studied costume design for film and television and was taught the traditional methods of millinery by royal milliner Rose Cory after graduating.

The Headmistress offers three brilliant ranges of headwear: Bridal & Classic, Monochrome & Metallic and Quirky & Colourful. So no matter if you attend the races, a wedding or just like something whimsical to brighten up your looks, you will find your perfect hat here. A hat all covered in domino stones, a tennis ball fascinator or a printed newspaper hat are just a few among the creations of the limitless imagination of Samantha. She makes the impossible possible and transforms items that you wouldn’t have thought to see on a hat in your wildest dreams into fabulous creations.

Samantha is inspired by vintage fashion from different periods as well as from nostalgic childhood memories. The headmistress is always on the search for beautiful vintage jewellery to include it in her creations. Each hat is unique and hand crafted in Samantha’s studio in London. The designer makes custom pieces as well if you have special wishes.

I am truly enchanted and curious to hear your opinion about those designs. Meanwhile I dream of wearing a The Headmistress hat on my very own head…

Saturn in red and pink: Perfect planet for girls?
melissa shoes, ashanti melissa, socks with golden frills
Will there ever come a time without frilled socks and jelly shoes? I don’t hope so!

I have no answer to the question if a safety pin will ever save my life, but at least when I googled the question I found a lot of stories which tell this actually could occur. No matter if I’ll ever happen to end up in one of those situations or not: I love my new bag and think it’s the best one I ever had. It was seen in the series Gossip Girl, Dita von Teese owns one and now Lovely Sara joins the club!

I am always excited when parcels arrive, but this time the tension was even higher and I couldn’t wait for the giant golden pin to arrive. This bag is stylish, quirky and very well made and I am happy that the pink is far more vibrant than it looked on the pictures on their homepage. The dream of this amazing bag came true thanks to my beloved best friend and hairdresser who gifted me with it as a belated birthday gift. What a lucky girl I am!

As you see, my love for the recently discovered combination of royal blue and hot pink continues. I think it’s rather cool how the socks and tights contrast each other. The fascinator unites all the colours of my look and adds some more. Because I imagine safety pins and felt pompoms could live as neighbours in a sewing basket, my choice of fascinator was very conscious.

With this dress it’s the first time for a long while I bought something black (Ok, I cheat a little: There are colourful sprinkles). It’s all about the accessories to make the look vibrant and give it a boost. Black doesn’t have to look boring, it’s all about the styling!

Now I am curious to hear how you like this look! What’s your opinion lovelies?

Finally the time has come to reveal my look for Valentine’s Day! This year I was excited about this day and my look like never before. I already planed my outfit weeks ago and couldn’t barely wait to go out with it. The obvious choice for a Valentine’s Day look would be to wear all red or pink, but this year I had something a little bit different in mind: An outfit like a baroque still life with flowers and berries.

Not as a symbol of the evanescence of my love, like what the painters expressed with their work during the period of Baroque, but as a lush sign of joy. Therefore no broken glasses, no skulls and no insects hidden behind the flowers, just petals in vibrant colours. Yes to lavishness, yes to love!

I was a little bit worried if the dress would fit my curvy body, but when it arrived I was surprised that it even flattered my shape in a way not many dresses do. The cute berry fascinator is from Jazzafine’s “My Funny Valentine Collection”. The berries are very tempting to take a bite, because they look almost better than real. I think this little hat will find it’s way into my everyday accessories.

We went for dinner at our favourite Indian restaurant to celebrate. What a good start for the weekend! My darling loved my outfit very much, especially the flower dress. Now I’m curious to hear your opinion my lovelies!

How did you spend your Valentine’s Day and what did you wear?

pearls & Swine, pompom headband, minnie ears
Not all mouses are the same: Some like cheese, others are crazy for pompoms.
pearls & Swine, pompom headband, minnie ears
I obviously don’t need to tell you what is my obsession…
pompom headband, minnie ears, vinyl skirt
Material mix: Fluffy little jacket meets shiny vinyl skirt.
pearls & Swine, pompom headband, minnie ears
Thinking about other things I could make prettier with pompoms, but my little jacket.
Topshop vinyl skirt, bow bangle, pink bangle
No Minnie Mouse look without a bow of course. This time on the arm instead of on the head.
Vivienne Westwood, Melissa, Jelly shoes, pink tights
Still crazy for those jelly shoes. I think they are among the best designs Vivienne Westwood made for Melissa.

Yes, I am crazy for pompoms and there is no end in sight! What polka dots are for Yayoi Kusama, pompoms are for me. Measles? Chickenpox? Forget about these and pompom the world with me!

I bought two big packs of pretty colourful pompoms a few weeks ago and now I can’t stop thinking about where to apply them. Why not everywhere? Pompoms on my shoes, pompoms in my hair, on my furniture and on the walls… Beware, I don’t know limits! As a little start, I customized this black and a little bit boring little jacket and turned it into something after my taste.

I think there must be a strong and wonderful brain connection between me and my favourite milliner Pearls & Swine: A few days after I finished my jacket, a parcel with this super cute headband arrived in my letterbox. A surprise to make my heart pompom!

Imagine a city with cute little pompoms in all rainbow colours everywhere. I remember seeing a documentary about the Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. He said that everybody should have the right to take a bucket of paint and colour the house he’s living in as far as his arm can reach from the window. Isn’t this a pretty vision of a city of colour and self expression? Instead of paint, I imagine pompoms on all the houses.

I am off for the moment, looking for other places to put my pompoms… I’m curious to hear what you think about this look meanwhile.

My Outfit:

Little jacket: Primark customized, Top: H&M, Skirt: Topshop, Tights: Topshop,

Valentine’s Day, the day of the lovers. Every year a sweet and romantic occasion and certainly a day to make little surprises and dress up. To make this already special day even more unique, it has a second meaning to me as well: Valentine’s Day was the beginning of an eternal love story of my life. My love for hats and fascinators started on a 14th of February.

Already quite a while ago, I discovered a giant cherry fascinator from Pearls & Swine. It was love at first sight and I told my darling, that I wish to have this fascinator for Valentine’s Day. I never expected it to come true, but it did. With this piece of headwear I lost my hearts not just to the man again, but as well to headwear.

Because of this romantic story, making a post about headwear for Valentine’s Day is one of the occasions I anticipate very much. This year it’s my pleasure to introduce you to the Valentine’s Day collection of Jazzafine: Fascinators as sweet as candy, all in the colour of love or sweet shades of pink and purple. They are ready to bedazzle your beloved one. Wear cupcakes, go for berries or grace your head with roses, Jazzafine is the perfect choice for all of them. And I am pretty sure your prince charming will love the look so much, you will wear it not just for Valentine’s Day.

Secretly, I am already planing my look for the day of love and it will definitely include one of those coquettish fascinators. If I can ever decide which one…

What are you gonna wear on Valentine’s Day and which one of those adorable fascinators wins your heart?
