This is the return of the eyeballs! After her breathtaking A/W 12 collection, London based designer Joanna Pybus had to fulfill high expectations with her next collection. She did more than to succeed and designed a spring/summer 2013 collection, just as quirky and fabulous as one might have wished for. Flattering skirts and cheeky shorts are at their best in Joanna’s stripes and eye prints. The beautiful pastel colours make the collection as sweet as candy and as explosive as a firework on a warm summer evening.

Joanna Pybus’ fashion has a strong graphic approach and the patterns of her fabric are very distinctive. All her clothes are striking, yet easy to wear. The sixties are obviously a strong influence in Joanna Pybus’ work and walk hand in hand with a generous touch of pop art. The simple, 60s inspired shapes are the perfect canvas to show off the bold prints. No piece of Joanna Pybus comes without a lot of humour: The eyes seem to twinkle and tell you that life is far more fun if you don’t take everything too serious.

I think Twiggy and Andy Warhol would have loved this fashion, so do I.

A styling fit for proud queens and daring adventuresses.

Let’s open the velvet curtains and step into a world full of mysteries: Do you believe in fairytale creatures? Do you think there are women with eternal beauty, eyes full of sparkling magic and dangerous powers of seduction? I can’t tell you on which island of the world they exist, but I can reveal another secret: There are clothes and accessories, which make a woman feel and look like a mystical creature and this is almost as good as having special powers. If you wear what you dream of in your wildest dream, it’s a daring adventure and like achieving some glorious mischief. There will be a sparkle in your eyes, which is only seen in the eyes of the bold ones.

I think the models on this pictures have the expression I just described in their eyes. No wonder, if you consider the decadent clothes and wonderful fascinators they wear. The most elaborate boudoir could not beat what Lovechild Boudoir (clothes), Redneck Leeds  (clothes) and Pearls & Swine (headwear) combined for this pictures. The elaborate dresses and the extraordinary fascinators are perfectly matched and styled. There is an atmosphere of secrets and temptation in these pictures. Because I am a big fan of Pearls & Swine, of course I can’t keep my eyes from the fascinators especially. Marie Antoinette would be jealous of this wonderful ship hats, all the feathers and delicate beadings.

I almost hear the rustle of the precious garments, while looking at these pictures and they make me dream of adventures at sea, full of mermaids, giant octopuses and siren songs. Are you under the spell of this pictures too and join the dream?

Finally it’s time to introduce a lovely label again: Let me tell you about Miss Lovett, an amazing German label, specialized in rocking and sweet fashion. The label was founded 2011 in Mannheim and is successfully growing since then. The two designers Deborah Brehm and Nina Kiil are the creative minds behind Miss Lovett. Supported by a little team of tailors, they create and sew their very feminine and cheeky clothes. Everything they sell is handmade in Germany and will definitely make the heart of modern Rockabilly and Pin-Up girls beat faster. Fashion from Miss Lovett is produced in small series and if you order something, it will be handmade with love especially for you. Therefore, every piece of Miss Lovett, is something special and unique.

Miss Lovett’s newest masterstroke is an exciting collection, called “A Kiss From Miss Ivi”. It was made in collaboration with the German tattoo and pinup model Miss Ivi. My germanophone readers might know her from the TV show “Goodbye Deutschland – Die Auswanderer” on VOX, where she shows her life in Switzerland after emigrating from her home country Germany. The blond Miss Ivi with her endless legs, her colourful tattoos and her winning smile is a wonderful choice as face and inspiration. The clothes of her collection are as sweet as herself and just perfect for summer. There is a lot of turquoise, which awakes dreams of relaxing in a swimming pool and eating ice cream on holiday. Wild leopard prints and sexy red are important parts of the collection as well. I wish I had the whole collection, because I can’t decide for a favourite. I bet wearing this fashion makes any girl feel a little bit like beautiful Miss Ivi.

Please take a visit to Miss Lovett’s online store, have a look at their wonderful fashion and tell me about your favourite pieces. In case you fell in love with something head over heel: They ship worldwide and turn you instantly into a 50s beauty. I can’t wait to try it out on myself neither.

jewellery, kitsch, cute, shiny
A selection of items I especially love from Rachel’s Wonders.
No outfit is perfect without the matching accessories! When it comes to jewellery, what I really love, are colourful, brigtht pieces. Jewelllery made of resin is exactly what I have in mind. It’s possible to have it in all the colours of the rainbow and with sparkling glitter. Today I am introducing a lovely jewellery brand, providing a lot of cool jewellery, most of them made from resin:

Rachel’s Wonders is truly a shop full of wonders, a world full of glitter, cuteness and shiny things. When I discovered this shop, I learned that there is more than mountains and sheep to be found in Cumbria (UK). Rachel’s jewellery is all handmade in her shed in a town called Workington. I like the thought of wearing unique jewellery made by a lovely, English girl, instead of going for mass production from China. If you order something from Rachel, it is possible to have it customized and get your dream piece in exactly the colour you have in mind. This way, your jewellery will perfectly match the colour of your eyes, your favourite dress or your boyfriend’s car, whatever you can imagine.

What I especially love about Rachel’s jewellery, it looks happy and makes the word Kawaii pop into my mind. It is exactly the way of kitsch I love. Glitter hearts, cute little bats and sweet cupcakes are just a few of the pretty things Rachel designs. All the Star Wars fans among you will be happy to visit her shop as well, because she has a whole range of jewellery themed on this movie. I have never seen something like this and think it is an ingenious idea.

It seems like Rachel just has the perfect necklace for every opportunity. Of course it is no surprise, she didn’t forget about the approaching Valentine’s Day as well: Pretty heart-shaped necklaces combined with a string of pearls are ready for this special day. You see: One more reason to have a look at.

candy, handbag, sweet, Ximena Yutronic

I seem to have a crush on Spanish designers recently: After introducing Yiddish Chutzpah and her wonderland dresses, I fell in love with another amazing designer from Spain: Palma de Mallorca based artist and designer Ximena Yutronic creates very special shoes and accessories, finding her inspiration in nature. There is no border between art and fashion in her work. Her shoes are like pieces of art and wearable fashion at the same time. Why restrict art to museums and galleries if you can wear sculptures on your feet?

The focus in this post is on the candy inspired pieces from her collection “Sweet Seasons”. Ximena creates stunning shoes and handbags all covered in leaves and flower petals worth a look as well. To me, the candy inspired work is the most surprising: At first sight the pieces – looking like covered in sugar – cause irritation. They seem to be made of real chocolate, strawberry ice cream and a mouthwatering sweet cream topping. Just at second sight, it’s revealed that they are recreations of sweets. Usually desserts have a very short life, they are eaten up quickly or the ice cream melts in the sun. Ximena stops the time and preserves the sweets, turning the dessert into something everlasting. Her work doesn’t just leave a sweet taste in your mouth for a second, but causes a sweet feeling in your heart whenever you look at her shoes and accessories again.

If you are interested to see more of Ximena Yutronic, please visit her Facebook Page or watch this video to see more of the collection. What do you think about this sweet shoes and accessories?

Pearls and Swine, fascinator, headwear, christmas

Why not going for really sophisticated headgear for Christmas instead of topping your head with stupid reindeer antlers from the fun shop? Even if your dress is rather plain, the right fascinator will turn you into the brightest star of the evening. This is the “not very” Christmas range 2012 from Pearls & Swine. Breathtaking headpieces made for girls who like to dress up, but are maybe a little bit tired of the usual christmas kitsch. Among the creations full of fantasy, there is a purple bambi waiting for you as well as a pretty red winter rose and a Carmen Miranda inspired fruit hat.

It’s very hard to decide on a favourite from this range, but I am madly in love with the disco and glitter balls fascinator with the name Space Oddity (shown in the middle). Metallic colours are one of the big things in fashion for spring and that’s why I am convinced this one will have a lot of wonderful appearances. I can’t stop thinking about how it would look with a pink Maison Martin Margiela for H&M candy clutch (seen in this post) or a metallic trench coat form Burberry Prorsum (seen at Vogue). Another highlight are is the red shoes fascinator, called Dorothy’s delight. Which girl doesn’t dream of being Dorothy from Wizard of the Oz and having magical glitter shoes?

The nice side effect of this range not being christmas themed in a very classical way is, you can easily wear most of the pieces during the whole year. So please dear Santa, bring me the disco balls fascinator, the red shoes fascinator and something beautiful form this range to every other nice girl! If you can’t get enough of this wonderful headwear like me: There is more on the Pearls & Swine page, waiting to be discovered.

Which fascinator is the highlight of the Christmas or New Years Eve outfit of your dreams?

This is actually the first time ever I introduce a fashion brand. When I came over Yiddish Chutzpah I just couldn’t keep this fabulous gem of a label to myself, especially because I’m sure you haven’t heard about it yet.
Yiddish Chutzpah was founded 2011 by Gema Alonso in Salamanca/Spain. The word “Chutzpah” in the name stands for an attitude of audacity and reflects perfectly how the clothes look: Daring and unique. The fashion is retro-naif, girly and flattering. There is a lot of love for details in the designs: Cute bows, sweet patch pockets and doll-like frill collars are true eye-catchers. All the patterns and prints of the clothes are designed by founder Gema and make the clothes exclusive.

The current collection of Yiddish Chutzpah takes us into a magical wonderland: It’s called “El Bosque de Hansel y Gretel” (The Woods of Hansel and Gretel) and it’s filled with many wonders: Mystical trees or beautiful flowers will await you as well as unicorns and sweet little Bambi. Of course there are bonbons as well, to make every fairy tale as sweet as sugar. With a piece from this collection your prince charming will be impressed and fall in love with you head over heel for sure!

I strongly recommend you to have a look at Yiddish Chutzpah’s whole lookbook. While the clothes look unlike something I’ve ever seen, the price range of them is quite affordable and you can be a happy owner of a Yiddish Chutzpah piece within a price range from 30 to 140 Euro. So what are you waiting for? Get in touch with Yiddish Chutzpah on Facebook, at www.yidch.es or send a mail to yiddishchutzpah(at)hotmail.com for further information.

I promise your childhood dreams of being a coquettish princess will come true with a little bit of Yiddish Chutzpah in your life!
