Lena Hoschek, circle skirt, vintage look
“Oh my gosh, I’m wearing a perfect look” or whatever I thought when we took this picture.

Other girls go for a walk and end up seeing deer, I end up coming home with a bag full of designer clothes. A few weeks ago, I just wanted to walk a little bit hand in hand with my darling and before I knew what was happening I was standing in the Markentussi store – a fabulous vintage store. I found myself in their changing room with an armload full of clothes from Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs and Moschino.

By pure coincidence, this Lena Hoschek skirt was exactly my size. Don’t you agree there was no way leaving without it? And to top up my luck: The Marc Jacobs (not Marc by Marc Jacobs) jacket very close by seemed to be made for it. Gosh, I felt like the one and only queen of all shopping queens, getting just two amazing designer pieces in one stroke.
I’ve been collecting look books from Lena Hoschek for years but never owned a single piece of this outstanding Austrian designer. Her designs are obviously 50s inspired, but with a very distinctive twist. Quite a while ago, when I was still a poor student, I tried on a few Lena pieces and dreamt of owning something of those treasures.
I might be a few years older since then, maybe have a little less skinny legs and the first fine line on my skin, but I have this fabulous skirt as well. Getting older is so cool when it means that your dreams are coming true! I should go for a walk again, maybe I’ll spot deer then…
Do you also end up doing something you haven’t planned at all and what do you think about this look?

Princess ready to conquer the world with pastel power.

Every girl dreams of being a princess, of living in a castle, having a room full of pretty dresses and dancing at balls with the handsome prince of her dreams. You did so too, and your dream hasn’t come true? Well then, maybe it’s time to rethink!

Carrying this princess feeling with you all the time hasn’t to do with possessing an awful lot of money, but with attitude. Close your eyes and think about what small or bigger dreams you could make come true just in the last few months. One, two, three, four… Oh, you are still counting? Great! Do you realise how far you’ve come? You must agree it’s a reason to be thankful for and proud of yourself.

Now the only thing you need for your princess day is just to dress like one. No matter if Belle, Arielle or Cinderella, each princess has her signature look. People very often say that you need to dress for the job you want and not the one you have. I agree and say it’s princess time.

I chose this fairylike skirt and a flower crown for my princess look today and became the ruler of a tropical flamingo kingdom. I managed to include two of this summers trends in one look: Tropical prints and metallics. Great isn’t it? A day with an outfit can turn out nothing else but splendid. Just never let others tell you to grow up, dress serious and stop dreaming!

How do you like this look lovelies and what makes you feel like a princess?

Pink girl in the city: Me is me and I love it!
cléo ferin mercury, leopard scarf, made in london
So take care, the leopard will not forgive frailties.

“Katy Perry, Katy Perry” are the children on the streets shouting after me. I glower and just want them to stop. Me is me, and I’m not copying anyone and certainly not Miss Perry. She is gorgeous without any doubt, but it’s still an insult to characterise a stranger as a copy of the only pop star with a quirky taste they know.

To vacate the rumour about me being Katy once and forever from the world, I collected ten (fun) facts that will prove everything. Read, be convinced and have fun!

1. Couldn’t find Jeremy Scotts number when I wanted new Moschino goodies.
2. I used to be an acolyte as a child, but I didn’t sing (the church goers may thank me).
3. I met Russell Brand at a museum, but he didn’t seem to know me. Strange, isn’t it?
4. I didn’t kiss a girl, not even Whoopi Goldberg I swear.
5. There is no Barbie doll that looks like me yet. What a shame!
6. Katy and I share a love for fruity looks. But I bet YOU too!
7. Can’t find my peppermint tattoo, I already checked twice.
8. When I asked my mother about her date with Jimi Hendrix, she asked, “Jimi what?”
9. Katy gave up on her pink hair quite soon. I stay true to my candy floss mane as you see.
10. If I were Katy Perry, I didn’t have to google to get this post done, don’t you think?

So what do you say now and how do you like this look?

Melissa shoes, high heels and socks
Every cute look needs jelly shoes and cute socks.

My wardrobe must be the dream of every five-year-old girl: There are boxes full of fascinators, loads of flowers, pompoms and novelty handbags in fruity shapes. Not to forget a whole cupboard full of Barbie-like jelly high-heels.
Some not fashion-conscious people might think I buy my jewellery and cutie-things for a few quids in cheap stores, but they are completely wrong. What an insult! Learn now and forever: There are worlds between cheap crap and quirky perfection. Kitsch isn’t always just kitsch, and there is nothing more exciting than buying the right kind of it. It’s worth every penny to buy something that makes the heart beat faster.
Just because I can spend a lot when I’m excited doesn’t mean that I’m a lavish girl: I am reluctant to spend money on some things, even if they would make my life easier. For example, I’m still using an iPhone released almost in the stone ages. Couldn’t I get a new one instead of craving for another shiny Maude studio bag and an even bigger Pearls & Swine fascinator? Yes, I could, but where is the joy in buying a new phone?  I want to buy something I can stare at for hours because I love it so much.
A new phone doesn’t fulfill the criteria at all: Everybody has one, and they all look nearly the same. It might be faster than the one I have, but it will not come with abilities like an app to create rainbows on the walls of my rooms or an instant glitter-up-my-life function. A new bag has the power to make me squeak and jump into the air on the other hand. So it’s an easy decision how I’d prefer to spend my hard earned money!
I go for things that give me a piece of this -being-in-wonderland-feeling and takes me out of the everyday routine. I think this is what we are all craving for in the end.
How do you like this look lovelies and what do you think about spending money on quirky things?

Oh, my: It’s already the middle of June and I didn’t manage to post a fashion favours post for May. Recently I struggle a lot to keep up with my blog schedule. There is just so much going on at work, and very often I come home almost too tired to lift a finger. Do you know this feeling when everything you desire is to sleep?

I decided to not post a fashion favourites post a month anymore, but as soon as I have a selection of looks you shouldn’t miss. Today this moment has come and what a gorgeous selection I have for you!

What I like best about my fashion favourites is that they show, how international inspiration has become thanks to all the cool blogs out there. Today’s looks are from the UK, Canada, the Netherlands, India and Australia. All those bloggers approaches to fashion are very different, and this is what I love about them.

I think the secret of style is to stay open-minded, absorb a wide variety of inspiration like a sponge, and never stop trying new things!

How do you like this looks lovelies and who is inspiring you most?

Last advice of the day: Invest in good shoes and cool glasses. They will bring you far.

Pink haired girls do not look professional, are offensive and will have no serious career! While we speak with holograms, have robots hoovering our homes and even transplant whole faces, mankind has a serious problem: There are a few troublemakers disturbing the introspective society with their unnatural hair colours. What a scandal!

Jessica Chelsey wrote a great post about the difficulties of finding a job with colourful hair and inspired me to talk about this topic too. Jessica dyed her gorgeous blue hair back to dark because she was urged to by an employer. Since then she doesn’t feel like herself and sees it as discrimination to be forced to change her appearance in this way. When you consider how hard mankind fought for freedom during its whole history, colourful hair sounds like a ridiculous thing to raise tempers, don’t you agree?

My experience as a girl with a candy floss mane is, that growing a thick skin is the price for having your dream hair. People are making jokes about my hair, children are screaming “Katy Perry” whenever I appear on the street and my mother had a very hard time getting used to have a pink-haired daughter instead of a blond angel.

Sometimes it feels like my pink hair is what the red flag is to a bull in the arena. Some people overslept the takeover of rainbow hair by fashion and still believe, you have to be either a punk or a goth to dye your hair any other colour than a mousy brown.

But, and here comes the but: In my experience my hair was never in the way of my career. Part of it might be because I work in a creative job and this gives me a certain freedom to look the way I choose. But it’s also because there are amazing people out there who are capable of distinguishing the skills of a person and her hair colour. A big thank you to my bosses at this point; you are amazing in counting on what matters: My qualifications. I work as hard as any blond or black-haired girl if not harder.

As head of design of a branding company, I meet a lot of clients, not all of them the most fashion forward people. But nobody ever complained about a pink-haired girl in a sea of suits and I am proud of every client who is intelligent enough to know that hair colour doesn’t destroy brains. Having the job I am qualified to AND my pink hair makes me happy and this in turn makes me do a better job.

I think the world is ready for a gang of colourful girl bosses in 2015! Follow me, everybody of you shall be a drop of colour. We can achieve change together and stand for more tolerance and open-mindedness. The day is close when everybody laughs about colourful hair being an issue at all!

Rainbow feet may cause a sudden rush of inspiration, let’s try!
While I look like a Carmen Miranda version for beginners (or intermediate if the beholder is generous with me) I don’t have an idea what to write and stare at the screen. A colour bomb, but no explosion of words. Oh hello, writers block, I thought I’d never see you at my doorstep, but after three and a half years of blogging you finally found me. You even brought a gift: An inexistent idea of a topic to chat about, how lovely!

Is anyone interested in the musings of a fashion blogger or are you just here for pretty pictures? Does somebody even realise if I just use dummy text? Let’s make a test: If you read this, comment with “pink poodle”. Anybody? Please, please, please. You’ll be my ultimate hero if you tell me what topics you’d be interested to read about here.

Until then, I continue my search for the words I lost: Does it help to make a handstand? Maybe I better don’t try, shame on unathletic me… Half a day later: I cooked some homemade tortellini, tidied up my flat and repotted plants. Still no single word is written on my blank page, but at least my home benefits from this misery. Can it be so difficult to find a few words? No novel with a 1000 pages required so come on Sara!

The next day: Must have fallen asleep while trying to write something and finally I give up. May the words reappear till the next post. Enjoy the colourful look in the meanwhile and appreciate that I talked rather visually than linguistically.

I am the Scrooge McDuck of fashion. While Uncle Scrooge takes a bath in money, I feel the happiest diving into my wardrobe and hoard my textile treasures. Some not fashion people might say this is a waste of money. I disagree because it makes me so very happy. When Uncle Scrooge counts money, I count sequins. And I feel the dramatic need for more, constantly! Life is too short to spend it with cold metal, so I exchange it for soft fabrics.
But let me tell you another thing, like every coin has two sides, so do I: Sometimes even I feel an overdose of consumption and I am not all material girl. I take responsibility for our environment, think about what it means to have the things produced that I wear and buy a lot from small designers instead of big chains. I don’t want to waste resources and just buy what I cherish. A completely new look very often doesn’t need everything new, but just one key piece.
This is what I prove with this look. Everything in this look has already been in my wardrobe. Just the top is new: Sara Di Salvo’s (Hot Couture) mirror print shirt is a true game changer. Aren’t the sequin sleeves divine? They look like pure gold when all the sequins face the same direction. As soon as I discovered they were silver on the other side, I had to play with them. The disarranged structure I gave them for the pictures made me think of a very casual attempt on Alexander McQueen and his designs inspired by mysterious undersea creatures. Do you agree so, dear Uncle Scrooge?
I am very curious to hear your opinion about this look.

Last month I posted my first monthly fashion favourites post and told you about my vision of cool bloggers all over the world unite and work together. I was surprised by the amount of positive feedback I got and think I actually said something many bloggers had on their mind as well.

I hope I can inspire more of them to follow my example or come up with ideas of how to connect to a colourful and bold fashion crowd. Life is too short for spending it on a lonely cloud! If you have any ideas what we bloggers could do together, please let me know.

Those amazing blogger girls out there are my daily inspiration. They influence my style more than any magazine will ever achieve. Isn’t it unfair to just consume their pictures and give them nothing back? They all put a lot of work, time and effort into their blogs and most of them probably don’t earn money from that. Big thanks to all of them! As a little gift in return, I spread this pictures here and hope they get your attention and love just as they have mine.

Wishing you a happy day and don’t forget to tell me which looks you like best.

Time for a rather unusual outfit post. I just don’t want to style a similar look for the thousandth time. Today I felt like styling a dramatic look, having pictures of New Orleans funerals, American Horror Story Coven, Victorian seances and folkloristic costumes in my head. I have had a lifelong fascination with stories about occultism and just love movies and series with witches, especially if they are beautiful and stylish. Recently, I’m watching Salem, and I’m totally in the mood for the mystical.

I few years ago, vintage was my new wonderland. Since then I’ve become far more selective and don’t go for anything vintage anymore. This skirt is one of the examples I really consider as outstanding. The bird print is just wow and wearing it makes me feel like a piece of art. A skirt like this means that there doesn’t need to happen a lot in the rest of the outfit. It just deserves to be the star of the look.

I think this style is a wonderful look for going outside with my darling. He doesn’t mind me wearing all quirky and rainbow coloured things (and I adore him even more for this), but for a candlelight dinner at our favourite Indian restaurant, even I go for less sometimes. Tomorrow it’s crazy circus again, I already know.

Remember the scene when they burned the witch Myrtle Snow in American Horror Story Coven? Her last word was Balenciaga, what a commitment to style! I am not sure yet what label I would choose because I love so many, but certainly the style of witches rules!

Do you also feel the need for a dramatic style and how do you like this look?
