It’s raining: But just on my cool new shirt no need to get your umbrella.
lightening shoes, topshop glow, metallic sneakers
Alien lights: They don’t just blink when you walk, but constantly shine like a neon sign.

First outfit post after my London trip and I’m wearing a lot of things I bought there. Like every time, I felt so heartbroken after I had to leave my beloved city. I miss my godchild, my girls and all the inspiration and excitement that is in the air of London. The fact that I caught the flu just when we had to travel didn’t brighten up my mood. I spent the first days in Switzerland in bed with a fever. What a welcome!

I am happy I finally feel well enough to show you a few of my new finds finally. There was no way for me around the lightening shoes, not even hearing about their bad quality could stop me. I hope my lights will not go out… It’s quite strange for me to not wear heels because as a rather short girl I love the little bit of extra height they give me. Well, at least there is one heel in today’s outfit: On my bag! Isn’t it cute? It’s made by my designer friends Azumi & David. I love how they combine classic design with a touch of quirk. Besides it’s always best to shop from lovely designers, and they are just one of the most adorable couples I know.

The skirt I’m wearing is from British label Textile Federation. I think I might turn into a collector of their stuff because I am obsessed with their prints. When I saw their pieces first, I was surprised how affordable they are while they look like expensive designer stuff. Later I read that they are not just a studio, but a hub for the best print design talents from all over the world. On their platform, people can showcase print design, and the winning submissions are realised. So every one of their prints is a winner. I couldn’t resist buying a second piece from them which I’ll show you later. I hope you are already curious which one it will be…

What do you think about this look lovelies?

Bunny is leaving: Just continue your search for more chocolate.

Hello lovelies, did you find all hidden Easter eggs and have chocolate for breakfast, lunch and dinner altogether? To continue a little bit longer with the bunny hype, I styled a look featuring my Bernstock Speirs bunny cap. I’ll wear this bunny cap the whole year, but Easter is the most epic beginning of the age of bunny! Yay!

I am excited to embrace spring finally. Hello blossoming magnolias, days without scarves, taking out balcony furniture and planting herbs on the kitchen sill. I know, I should have got rid of my black opaque tights for a true spring look. Next time, I promise! Too much focus on the legs would have distracted from the highlight on the head anyway: My shiny Bernstock and Speirs bunny cap.

Since I passed their shop at Brick Lane for the first time I dreamed of having one of their hats, especially an iconic bunny cap. I love the mix of casual and quirky. The bunny cap can be paired up with a lot of different of styles, from rather sporty to elegant.

Today’s look is all girly and kawaii. Isn’t the print of my skater skirt darling? This piece by Melbourne-based label Tilly Me just blew my mind. The design reminds me of something that could have been part of a future Moschino collection. Well, bad luck Mr. Scott: Tilly Me was first!

Please excuse me: I’m on bunny business… How do you like this look?

I have a new mission: I thought a lot about the purpose of style blogs recently and I think it would be a great benefit for style bloggers and readers if we bloggers stop being only self-focused. No matter on what style bloggers page you go, it’s all about self-advertising. Isn’t it time to leave the little lonely island and unite with like-minded fashion lovers?

This was when I came up with the idea to make every month a post featuring all the amazing girls out there I follow. Their looks are so wonderful; I want you to see them and get inspired by them too. Please visit their pages and hopefully you find new favourites for your reading list.

I want to say a big thank you to all the girls featured in this post for exciting me again and again with their outstanding sense of style.

Have a happy day and don’t forget to tell me which looks you like best.

voegele shoes, metallic heels, silver heels
Shiny Silver: Did you expect golden treasures in heavy chests? I’m sorry, silver must do.
topshop pleated skirt, metallic look, modern nautical look
So sailor, what do you say, will your ship come back to my harbour?

How to style a nautical look without being cliché? This is what I tried today, so instead of stripes I wear a pleated skirt as my modern interpretation of a mermaid’s tail.

The look doesn’t spot the classical blue and white nautical style, but a mixture of lilac, silver and blue. Metallic pieces go very well with a nautical look, just think of shiny treasures hidden in the depths of the sea. I know I’m such a dreamer, but I’ll never stop my fascination for mystical creatures, no way!

The highlight of this look is my silk scarf by Cléo Ferin Mercury (See my post about their SS15 Nautical collection here). The print is even better than in real, and my neck loves the good quality. I think this is a piece I’m going to keep forever. It’s a perfect scarf for the current time between winter and spring, and I hope it will protect me from catching another cold while I’m living my dreams of being a fashion siren.

Don’t feel watched, it’s just me!

Why do we waste so much time with boring or insignificant things? We constantly worry about being not good, not pretty, not successful enough. We spend a lot of time with boring tasks. We drive to work in overfilled busses, full of distressed people who had to leave their dreams at home too early in the morning. Sometimes a day seems to be like the last one or the next one. I say stop! Break out!

But how? Just wearing a colourful jacket will not safe the world. But why not take it as a start? Do something you never did before, get bold! Be curious and don’t fall into routine. Have a date with your boyfriend after spending years together, wear a colour you never dared to and most important: Don’t take yourself and everything happening too serious.

Yes, today I felt like wearing a whole neon rainbow, so what? You can love it, you can write my name on the list for the bad taste contest. I don’t care, because I’m happy. Just smile!

Monster Cat: Karl thinks she can be nasty, I think she is just cute as a button.

Moschino and Karl Lagerfeld in one look, impressive isn’t it? Sometimes even the lovers of independent designers – such as me – fall for the major labels… Carl wants to marry his cute cat Choupette, so how do you think I could resist having her on a tee at least? The tee was a gift from my darling, he said that it just belongs to me. I wanted to show it to you since I got it, but it was so cold during the last weeks. Finally I was brave enough to step outside with it.
The Moschino bag was a gift from me to myself, I just couldn’t go on without this fashion milestone from Jeremy Scott in my life. I am a humble girl and I still feel bad if I spent a lot of money on fancy things and I certainly don’t need expensive things for my ego. I feel so astonished that this bag is mine and expect it to vanish again every moment like an air built castle. But whenever I open my eyes again, it’s still there. Thank you life, I love you, you are so good to me!
I never go to McDonalds to be honest. Isn’t it sweet irony that a fast food inspired bag won over my heart in a storm? McDonalds is an icon of pop culture for me. The red and yellow signs from the fast food chain (which have been replaced by green ones) remind me of the nineties, when fast food was so cool over here and we’ve been excited to spend our birthdays in the place with the big yellow “M”.
It felt like the huge world has finally come over to our sleepy town, when the first Mc opened. I’ve always been a little bit afraid of Ronald McDonald and I bet you agree: Choupette is far, far cuter than him and wins every game. Maybe she would try a burger, if I don’t…

Barbarella Would Be Jealous: Pointed boots with silver heels.

What does the future bring? Where will we go and what doors will close and open? Are our dreams too big or will reality even exceed them? Today’s future is tomorrow’s past, and there will always be new questions.

Thinking too much about the future sometimes distracts from the present. But it’s the here and now we are living in, and today is never coming back. So live it, breath every bit of air like it’s something special and enjoy yourself! Don’t spend your days following others dictating you what to do, but follow your own path.

Nobody knows what tomorrow brings. Very often, we can’t even guess the little surprises life will drop in front of our door, not to mention the big life events.

When somebody wanted to discuss with me the new it-colour grey a few months ago, I just refused to believe that I would wear grey. Grey is for mouses, for people without joy and courage. Well, look at me now! I’m wearing grey, and it feels edgy and futuristic.

I watched Barbarella a while ago a and this jumper made me think of her fluffy spaceship. It’s easy to style a science fiction look if you have a haircut like mine. Just add shiny metallics like my new fantastic shoes from Voegele Shoes and the Maison Martin Margiela candy clutch, and ready is the fashion ship commander!

I think my sense of fashion benefits from watching old science fiction movies… Let’s stay inside and boldly go through the DVD collection (where no man has ever gone before)!

It’s so Fluffy: Quirky bags are my kind of fun.
Like a Superstar: Disguising myself with big glasses and hiding behind my bag.
Quilt & Lace: Who says that delicate and casual don’t fit?
Character Cat: I must admit Kitty looks a little bit grumpy, but cute as a button.
Unicorn Hair & Barbie Jewellery: Big girls still like what little girls love best.
Wave the Tail: Because this is what happy cats do.
True Love: A perfect pink couple.
Saying Goodbye: Cat and me are on our way to more adventures.
“Excuse me, may I stroke your cat?” I was asked when I went out dressed like this. “Of course,” I said, even if my pink kitty is a little bit shy sometimes. Some dating experts say that going for a walk with a dog is a very good way to get in touch with possible partners. I say a fluffy fake fur cat is all you need to stir attention. Ok, probably it attracts more quirky women than suitable lovers, but I’m not in need for a romance anyway.

January is almost over, and I feel restless. I wish I could travel somewhere right now. London, Paris, Japan, China… I am so ready. Where is my ticket? Where are the cool events, the exciting places and the crazy people? I wonder if they do all hibernate and imagine a big fluffy cave with fantastical sleeping creatures somewhere. Please send me directions, and I’ll join.
To cheer myself up I just booked my next trip to London and tickets to the Alexander McQueen exhibition at the V&A. I am playing with the thought to fly to China in summer.

Keep your belongings in your bag and cherish your dearest memories in your mind!

Sometimes perfectionism keeps me from showing you my most beloved looks: The light is not right, I have a bad hair day, I don’t feel beautiful enough – whatever excuse I can find keeps me from being a good blogger. This outfit waited in my wardrobe for a very long time. I bought it for the baptism of my godchild last autumn, a very special occasion.

Because my little girl is half-Japanese, half-German I wanted to wear something with a hint of Japanese flair. Vivetta seemed the perfect choice and a bag from Korean label Yesimfrench completes my look. Even if I love statement jewellery, for this event I went for less: A baby and big necklaces and chunky rings just don’t go very well together.

I was very nervous at the baptism. As well I wanted to look especially pretty, because the pictures taken at the day might cause how she sees me in the future. Probably they will decide if I am the old crone or the cool auntie in her life…

I am so grateful for taking part in the life of this girl. I loved her from the very first time I saw her, and maybe she will be an accomplice in living a life in pink…

Please don’t forget to tell me how you like this look.

Wow, today it is exactly three years since I had the crazy idea somebody out there might be interested to see what I wear and started my blog. This day is almost more significant than my birthday.

I have very mixed feelings about my third year of blogging: I was deeply touched by your messages, but sometimes frustrated about my posts ending up in a deep, meaningless void. A few times I couldn’t grasp why certain brands I dream of working with prefer other bloggers. “Is my best not enough,” I started to ask myself. Other times I couldn’t believe my luck when the most amazing designers and labels from all over the world contacted me.

It is lovely to have goals, but things often turn out a different way than imagined. Sometimes better, sometimes less glamourous. I am still the quirky outsider in the Swiss blogger scene, but proud of my very international readership. During my three years of blogging, I never had a break from blogging – not even for a week – and I still don’t need one. I just love my blog. Nearly every free minute I have, I spend working on posts. I am stubborn to continue, gather an army of quirky girls around me, ready to colour the world!

Time to walk with one’s head raised into year four of blogging: Finally, this blog deserves a top-level domain and this will happen during the next days. As well I have a secret list of designers and labels I wish to collaborate with (feel free to step forward if you have the feeling your name is written there…). Year four, please be a good one and I will be good to you.

Pictures: Overview of all the outfits during the third year of “Sara is in Love with…”.

All looks of year one here and of year two here.
