Chunky Sandals – the nightmare of most girls during the nineties – are back! This time they come with cool platform heels. Their look is truly edgy, incredibly comfortable without missing the effect of giving you a little bit of extra height. Ugly shoes are the new beauties and really need to find a place in your shoe cabinet!

The Birkenstock sandals are back as well, but I still can’t warm up my heart for them (Sorry mum, I know you love to wear them as house shoes. Maybe you are just more trendy than I am…). Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have been spotted already giving in to 90s nostalgia and wearing Birkenstocks and they drop into all the cool shops right now. I would strongly recommend to not go for them, but for a pair of platform heeled styles. I think they have a more modern touch. But never forget: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
I already own several pairs of heeled Juju sandals (the baby blue one on the left) and can confirm that they are the best shoes in the world and I don’t go on a city trip without them.
What do you think about chunky sandals and did you fall in love with a pair from my selection?

With the first rays of warm spring sun I don’t just fill up my fruit bowl, but as well my passion for fruity fashion returns year after year. No matter if bananas, pineapples, melons or cherries: I am drawn like a moth to the light to fruit prints and here I share with you the best pieces I spotted in the shops right now.

Nothing spreads more good vibes and is a better source of creative inspiration than fruits, I can tell you! My fruit-of the-moment is the pineapple, but I can’t say no to the others as well. They just make me happy.

You don’t have to restrict yourself to wear one fruity piece at the same time, but they are also great combined. Carmen Miranda would agree for sure, there is no such a thing as a fruit overdose when it comes to styling.

I think I really need to go for one of the dresses at least. Maybe I’ll just order everything and have a big delicious fruit salad in my wardrobe…

Which juicy piece is your favourite and are you crazy for fruit prints too?

Finally, it started to snow over here and the temptation to buy a new warm coat is big. It’s definitely the season of the pink bubblegum coat. Pink is the new black when it comes to coats. It seems that not just constant pink lovers like me, but everyone wants to dress up in candy floss coloured garments.

There have been already a lot of posts and articles about pink coats on blogs and magazines at the beginning of winter season, but I think the coats appearing recently in the shops are even better and deserve your attention for the perfect marshmallow look.

My advice for you: Don’t’ be part of the gray masses, live the “La vie on rose” and get pink! Wear a bright lipstick with your pink coat, so you will not look pale, but just super candy cool.

Do you already have a pink coat or do you have plans of keeping yourself pink and fluffy this winter? Which one wins your heart?

Fashion, Colour of the Year 2014, Pantone, Radiant Orchid
Necklace: Asos, Nail Polish: Illamasqua, Handbag: Furla, Coat: Topshop,

Every year it’s a guessing game: Which colour will be chosen as colour of the year by Pantone? In 2013 Emerald had it’s big appearance and now the secret is revealed, that 2014 will be the year of Radiant Orchid.

Radiant Orchid is a mixture of purple, fuchsia and pink. According to Pantone it’s “an invitation to innovation and encourages expanded creativity and originality”. Further they say that the rosy undertone of the colour produces a healthy glow when it is worn.

Despite the promising statements from Pantone, The Guardian doesn’t approve with Radiant Orchid as a good choice at all. They say it’s 30 years too late and describe the shade as middle-aged, just fit for people who are into Prince’s shirts or Cyndi Lauper’s lipstick.

I collected a few fashion items here, which are in Radiant Orchid or come pretty close to it. Confession: I don’t care about The Guardian’s opinion. Right now I imagine myself wearing that radiant (orchid) coat together with the holographic shoes and the Furla bag, walking through a snowy landscape and singing “Purple Rain”. And yes: Why not with a purple lipstick, just like Cyndi? Long live the 80s!

Are you with me or without me when it comes to Radiant Orchid?

I didn’t miss that winter has arrived, but let me tell you something: I think buying (proper) winter shoes is not much fun. Most of the times the shoes you can wear on icy streets are heavy, big and look not like much fun. Therefore I rather have my eyes on pretty high heels. Spending money on beauties like those, makes me happy and this is reason enough to say the money is well invested.
Here I show you my personal selection of shoes I am in love with at the moment. All of them have something very special: They are either decorated in a cool way, have a special heel or a cool fabric.
I think the Jeffery Campbell boot with the transparent heel filled with glitter, would be the perfect shoe for the festive season. It must look beautiful when the glitter sparkles and moves while walking. Almost like a snow globe. The Mel by Melissa shoe with the hearts is already a classic since the peep toe version from Vivienne Westwood for Melissa and I think it can’t be missed on the shoe shelf. But I wouldn’t mind at all having them all.

What do you think about these shoes, which would you love to wear?

Every girl needs her very own unicorn! Not just little girls can’t resist the spell of these magical creatures and sleep with a smile on their face while dreaming of them. Unicorns appear in fairy tales and movies such as “Legend”, “The Last Unicorn” or “Stardust” and are always surrounded by an air of eternal beauty.

So why not include them into fashion and bring a little bit of a fairy tale into your wardrobe? Weather you go for unicorn accessories, wear them as a print on your dress or even turn yourself into one with a little unicorn horn headband, you will earn longing looks from other girls that didn’t find their unicorns yet. Just like the movies taught us: A world without unicorns can’t exist.

I am not able to decide for a favourite from this collection, I just wish to have everything and be a happy unicorn princess. How do you like unicorn themed fashion?

Is it hate, is it love or both at the same time? Fluffy jumpers are incredibly cosy, warm and they instantly awake the strong instinct to reach out and touch them. Like Hansel and Gretel’s breadcrumb path, some of them leave an awkward trail of hair behind, but you will forgive them as soon as you are freezing next time and want nothing more than your fluffy darling.

This winter, the fluffy jumper is one of the pieces you nearly can’t escape (and why should anybody want to anyway?). I think they look awesome if you style them with pencil or mini skirts.

My advise on fluffy jumpers: They tend to be too hot, especially in heated rooms. If you wear a blouse beneath it doesn’t just look nice, but you might as well take off your jumper before you faint from hyperthermia. 😉

Do you love fluffy jumpers too and which one is your favourite?

It returns nearly every autumn/winter season: Velvet. This material with it’s smooth touch and elegant shimmer is just the right thing when it gets colder and returns in deep rich berry tones this season.

Velvet used to be a material associated with wealth and nobility, although nowadays it’s available for all of us, it didn’t loose the air of luxery. Originally it was made from silk and cotton, more recently as well from polyester. It’ s very easy to combine with almost any other materials. I wouldn’t mix too many different velvet pieces in one outfit maybe, but there are no boundaries for experiments.

My shopping advice would be to go for a velvet kimono or velvet shoes to add a touch of glamour to your looks. I hope I’ll soon have my velvet dream come true.

Is velvet one of your favourites too this autumn/winter?

Summer season is coming to an end and the new trends are ready to enter your wardrobe. In the following weeks, I plan to tell you about my fashion highlights for next season.

Let’s start with a sparkling trend first: Holograms. They have been seen in the spring/summer collections of Burberry, Stella McCartney and Jonathan Saunders, now they invade high street fashion. Holograms give a futuristic touch to your outfits instantly. Barbarella meets glam rock disco.
When days get colder and the sky more gray, something glittering is just the perfect choice. They don’t need be combined with a lot of accessories, because they are very strong on their own.Wear them together with black or white as an eye-catcher or mix them with strong colours for an even more exciting look.
Do you love holograms too and what are your new season trends?

Has plastic a strong attraction to you and have you been waiting for more hot pink plastic to appear in women’s fashion? The paradise for all Barbie girls, living in a plastic world is finally here and a lot of plastic clothes and accessories are ready for you in the shops. These bright coloured pieces will bring a little bit of Barbie into your life. You can combine them with plain pieces in dark colours if you don’t want to be too colourful, but I think they will look best with patterned fabrics and even a little bit of neon. There are a lot of black and white graphical patterns in the spring/summer collections of many designers. At first sight it seemed to be disappointing for colour lovers, but combined with pink plastic they will make a fabulous look no doubt.

In my opinion, the best piece from this collection is the jacket. I was waiting for exactly this kind of jacket forever, until Topshop made my dream come true. To make my excitement even bigger, they designed an equally wonderful skirt as well. The handbag is something for girls who don’t have to hide something. My Barbie had a bag like this in yellow neon. If you have just beautiful things in it like the pink sunglasses or the bow hair clips, it will be wonderful.

So what are you waiting for: Get some hot pink plastic, go out with Ken and live your Barbie life!
Which piece is your favourite?

Don’t forget to enter my Rachel’s Wonders Give Away. The prize is pink and shiny too. 🙂
