Rainbow Shoes  –  Cocktail Clutch
Pink Glitter Sunnies  – Eyeshadow Necklace  –  Rainbow Stripes Dress
Rose Watch  –  Sequin Cape  –  Eye Backpack

Time for another wish list post! I thought we all need a new dose of colours in our life. As you know, I always loved rainbows, not just since what happened in Orlando, not only at Gay Parade and not just after I discovered how many narrow-minded and intolerant people we have in the world.  Therefore, this wishlist is bright and packed with all colours; this is what the world needs more!

I wholeheartedly agree with all the rainbow stands for as a symbol: Yes to peace, yes to diversity and another yes to equal rights for everybody, no matter what gender or sexual orientation!

Wearing rainbow is the ultimate colour decadence: Why choosing if you can have them all? It’s like meeting all of your friends together, like eating a whole cake instead of restricting yourself to a single piece. Why do other people have difficulties to decide if they want to go for marble gray or elephant gray? I just don’t understand and overtake them with full rainbow power. Rainbow is not just fashion; this is a philosophy!

Be inspired to wear the most colourful piece you own today and please let me know what you like best from my shopping finds.

cactus, fashion, trend
Silky Playsuit  –  Earrings  –  Make Up Bag
Triangle Bra  – Swimsuit  –  Necklace
Bucket Bag  –  Dress  –  Cowboy Shirt
The three icons of fashion and home accessories of the moment: The pink flamingo, the juicy pineapple AND…THE SPIKY CACTUS!
From Dolce & Gabbana to Topshop, a lot of labels have been inspired by the Wild West and took a new fresh take on it. It‘s been too long since the cactus has been treated as a not very desirable plant. Finally, he has his big moment to leave behind roses, sunflowers, and hydrangeas. This summer’s cactus items are bright and colourful, just right to bring desert vibes into your wardrobe. You don‘t have to be a cowgirl to fall in love with them.
While high street fashion jumped very recently on the cactus trend, a few forward thinking labels started to bring the spiky plant from the shadows into the spotlight years ago: The green plant was one of the stars of the Jeremy Scott SS12 season and many labels from Kenzo to Markus Lupfer went cactus crazy since then. The D&G man AW16 collection stirred the attention for the spiky green fellow even more, and I say now it’s the right moment to bring some cactus into your life too for a tropical style party.
neon, interior design, home accessories
Neon Pink Heart Vase  –  Star Anise Print Cushion  – Prism Bookends
Plissé A4 Archive Folder  –  Ice Cream Neon Light
Gradient Tea Towels  –  Fluoro Orange Offcut Stool  –  Neon Dipped Wooden Spoons
Pink and Yellow Acrylic Vases  –  Neon Lidded Floor Basket
Live bright, live neon! There is nothing more striking than making bright accents in your home and if you try to achieve the maximum of colourfulness neon might be the answer.
Neon was THE thing in the 80s and has appeared in a more reduced way again and again since then. Some people say it’s only for punks, some say it looks cheap, I say it’s the perfect time to bring neon back for real! It goes very well with modern, minimalistic spaces and is a bold statement.
If you have a lot of earthy tones at your home, don’t be afraid to give neon a try. Some bright sparks can be a spectacular contrast to dark wood for example.
Personally, I think the best neon piece to invest is a huge light – like this gorgeous ice cream (Yes, I am guilty of ordering it and can’t wait to see it right next to my dining room table). As a graphic designer, I created many signs in my career and dreamed for ages of having my own. Finally, I will have my own disco at home, neon party forever!
If you don’t feel that bold, just go for a single neon accessory like a bowl, a vase. You will smile when the sun rays coming through your windows will meet the shockingly colourful neon and cause bright reflections.
mermaids in fashion, shells, cute mermaid shopping
Mer Cat Blouse  –  Sequin Denim Trousers
Shell Clutch  –  Shell Necklace  –  Mermaid Sunglasses
Mermaid Bomber Jacket  –  Shell Phone Case   –  Mermaid Swimsuit

The mermaids must have left their homes hidden deep under the sea and now they are all over the shops. Wherever you look, you will find them, all of them waiting to be a girls treasure.

Mermaids inspire dreams of mystical adventures, they are creatures of divine beauty and enchant sailors and kawaii girls likewise. I suspect the mermaid hype will continue until at least next year because Hans Christian Andersen‘s classic book will appear on the big screen as a live-action movie then (Let‘s hope this one is going to be good one, although Sofia Coppola dropped out as a director).

I already ordered four things featured in this post; this makes it probably the inspiration post with the most Sara-hits ever. If you are curious, feel free to guess what‘s on the way travelling over the wide, wide sea right into my wardrobe 😉

I am only waiting till my parcels arrive and then I‘ll be ready to play Ariel and her fair sisters, cause darling it‘s better down where it‘s wetter under the sea!

Do you want to join? Then dive in and tell me which piece is your favourite!

Fashion finds, shopping, pineapples
Flamingo Cardigan  –  Candy Platform Shoes
Shrimps Sunglasses   –  Pink Crochet Handbag   –   Crochet Necklace   –   Pineapple Swimsuit
Fruit and Parrot Hair Clasps   –   Shell Platform Sandals   –   Pineapple Backpack

I am in the mood for warm weather, for tropical fashion and more than anything else: PINEAPPLES! The sweet pineapple is the queen of the fruits in my opinion: It’s a delight to the eyes, and it even wears a crown! I am glad the annual return of pineapples – not just to the fruit shelf but as well into our wardrobes – is as certain as the soon arrival of next summer.

I am thinking about holidays a lot recently and looking at tropical fashion finds helps me to get into the right mood. I have no clue where to go yet. The recent situation with many beautiful countries being not as safe as they used to be is causing me a lot of thoughts. I’d love to visit the pyramids of Gizeh, wander through the spice bazaars of Istanbul or discover quirky Bangkok.

I have the need for an exotic place in my life and dream of this while eating dried mangos and pineapples in grey Europe. I need something different, and I’m longing to see palm leaves moving in the wind. Maybe I could even go to a place where pineapples grow, and flamingos live…

How do you like my shopping finds and do you already have summer holiday plans?

Metallic Shoes  –  Fur Cat Collar
Pink Sunnies  – Pom Pom Earrings  – Earrings with Stones  – Flamingo Sunnies
Kenzo Watch  –  Bunny Slippers  – Round and Golden Earrings

Yay Easter is here! We all deserve this long, long weekend so much. I almost couldn’t wait to have the time to edit my next posts. I wish I could show them to you right now and share the excitement I feel with you. I’ve never been excellent at keeping lovely things a secret…

Just as the Easter bunny brings colourful eggs, I like you to start this wonderful weekend with my lovely fashion finds article and picked only the best. Of course, I couldn‘t resist to include a bunny item: The heeled slippers from Streetzie‘s have a rarely seen wow-factor, I couldn‘t stop thinking of them since spotting them on pictures of last London fashion week on the feet of the models for Clio Peppiatt (see here at Fashionista Barbie).
I always had a big love for accessories, but at the moment, they excite me even more than usual. When I study the look of people on the street, I am surprised how many don‘t wear accessories at all, or only very little and few pieces. I say that they need to be bold, fun and big. I might own more necklaces than T-shirts, but I can‘t imagine the other way around. Play girls and don‘t be too shy to have fun!
So please dear Easter bunny: No sweets this year, but why don‘t you bring earrings instead of chocolate eggs? My health and my addiction for fashion will thank you very much. Have a happy weekend!
flamingo, fashion, shopping wish list
Flat Flamingo Shoes  –  Flamingo Candle  –  Heeled Boots
Flamingo LED Light  –  Flamingo Slippers  – Key Ring
Laptop Sleeve  –  Fascinator – Socks

Roll your eyes, but I am not over flamingos and probably never will be! As long as there is still space for more cute pink flamingo finds in my flat and wardrobe, I don’t have enough of them. While the trend of animals in fashion changes fast from cats to dogs or foxes and owls, my heart will always belong to those elegant, long necked birds!

Sometimes I wish Hitchcock made love films instead of horror. Imagine a movie as cool as “The Birds”, but in colour and instead of attacking birds with flocks of flamingos and a couple falling in love in a paradise garden…

The best way I can imagine to cheer myself up after a hard day is to come home, slip my feet into the fluffy flamingo slippers, turn on pink flamingo lights and dream of that movie. Long live the kitsch, long life the pink way of life!

What is your soul animal and what do you think of my flamingo crushes?

Sunglasses  – Fuzzies Necklace  –  Flamingo Handbag  –  Hettie Stewart Heart Clutch
Eye Earrings  –  Rainbow Print Shirt  –  Crispy Crisps Phone Case  – Pom Pom Shoes
Suspender Dress  – Fluffy Backpack

Life is hard enough;  I can’t banish all the sadness, the tears and the injustice happening, so please let me fill my wardrobe with only cute and sweet things at least! I can feel spring coming when I see all the exciting things popping up in the shops.

I am a rainbow gal for life, but when even the Evening Standard says that 2016 is the year of colourful fashion (see article here), I feel tempted to overdue it even more. Nobody has to tell me “Go and buy something with a rainbow on it” twice for sure. By the way: I’d die for that Sonia Rykiel technicolour jacket, but since I can buy all my shopping finds for the same prize, I’d prefer to have a pile of textile happiness and dive into it.

Recently somebody described my style as a “crazy mix of all things colourful” and I love this description. Why not wearing (nearly) everything from my finds together? Even if you are normally not as colourful as me, maybe now it’s time to banish black, get rid of grey and detest brown! Spring is here, colour is life-affirming, so let’s all dance on a rainbow!

What do you think about my shopping finds lovelies, any favourites?

Being a blogger puts you into the position of a material girl. You are always browsing for the newest coolest finds; your postie moans under the load of parcels he has to carry to your doorstep and at first sight you give the impression that consumption is your only definition of happiness. But isn’t there more behind the facade?
My musings about questions ended in me realising that happiness often lies in the small things of life, the things nobody mentioned. Therefore, I decided to pair my ten fashion finds post for the first time with a list of 10 moments of happiness during the last days. Most of them might seem unremarkable, but I believe they make a difference. I like the idea of continuing the list and having a million of reasons to be happy if I continue to write them all down.
10 Things That Make Me Happy
1. Booking the next trip to London. Yay! My advice: You get the most of your travels when you plan ahead and leave a lot of time for pleasant anticipation.
2. A smile from a (female) stranger one the street. It doesn’t cost you anything to lift the corners of your mouth but might bring the sun into somebody else’s day.
3. Telling your boyfriend, your family and friends how much you love them and appreciate them being in your life.
 4. Taking care of yourself just because you deserve it: Doing a face mask while having a Lush flamingo bubble bath on a regular day. What could be more relaxing?
 5. Fulfilling a New Year’s resolution: I wanted to read a book a month this year, and I already finished two in January (Super Sad True Love Story by Gary Shteyngart and Burial Rites by Hannah Kent). Especially the second one touched me and will stick in my mind for quite a while.
 6. Waking up early in the morning and realising it’s weekend, hiding deeper under the sheets and continuing with adventures in dreamland.
 7. Getting in touch with people you haven’t talked to for years and still enjoying each others company like no time at all has passed.
 8. Having a cosy evening at home with warm candle light and steaming Earl Gray tea. There is no need for wellness when you declare your home to your island of recreation.
 9. Reading the news that David Bowie prepared music to be released after his death. Thank the stars, it’s not necessary to live without the man who fell to earth!
10. The moment when you catch a glance of yourself in a shop window and realise even the colour of the fruit juice you carry matches your outfit.
What was your moment of happiness this week or today?
Tatty Devine, SS16, statement necklace

I wanted to do a shopping finds article including all the lovely new pieces popping up here and there. Cunning Tatty Devine changed my mind when I saw their great new collection. I just had to dedicate a post to their SS16 only. The new acrylic masterstroke is called, “Skies of Antiquity” and it is inspired by nature, Roman Architecture, the Renaissance and classic iconography. Tatty Devine takes you back in time to the era of The Grand Tour of Europe.

Of course, there is no tour without souvenirs and this is where the jewellery comes in: All pieces are part of a numbered edition between 50 and 150 and come with an exclusive certificate of authenticity that makes those pieces ideal for collectors and magpies with a love for statement jewellery. Collecting Tatty is therefore far cooler than collecting little statues of famous buildings!

I tried but couldn’t resist at all, so my first order is already placed. You can guess in the comments what piece I went for if you like me to tell you. I am almost sure it’s not the only item I’ll get from this collection…

What do you think of Skies of Antiquity and do you have any favourites?
