A few days ago, my boyfriend and I went to a little village in the mountains called Vals. There is an amazing spa, it’s often called “The Modernist Spa” and that’s exactly how it looks. I can strongly recommend it to everyone who needs a little break from everyday’s life! The rest of the village is no modernist place at all, but more a very romantic alpine place with a breathtaking landscape and amazing restaurants. It seemed to be the perfect place to show you my first beanie-post. For a long time I didn’t wear beanies, because the hair is always so messy after taking them off, but it was just a matter of time, until I gave in and started to like them. My obsession for headwear is just unstoppable and a beanie keeps the head warm in a wonderful way!

Usually beanies have a sporty look and let’s face it: That’s just not me. There is no sportive activity I really enjoy and I can’t even remember when I was at the gym for the last time. So it wouldn’t fit to dress sporty for a coach potato like me. But Stephen Jones had the answer for that problem: He proved that beanies can be elegant, when he designed a veiled beanie for Jil Sander’s Spring Collection 2012.

My beanie is a self made version, inspired by Stephen Jones’ design. I bought a plain simple beanie and decorated it with a veil. Some might say it looks like I’m ready to go to a funeral, but my style always had very slightly gothic roots and I love to keep that hint of darkness. While I’m always very colourful and girly dressed in summer, winter is year after year the season to return to a more dramatic and dark look.

But as sure as light and shadows belong together, every dark outfit needs a colourful highlight such as my lilac lips: First I just bought the lipstick because of it’s name (It’s called “Airborne Unicorn” and there is no escape for me of buying something with the word “unicorn” in it.). Now I seriously think lilac is an underestimated lipstick colour, if not the new red!

Do you love beanies to keep you warm and what do you think about my veiled one?

It’s more than a year since Amy Winehouse died. I always admired her remarkable voice, but more than that I loved the picture of her being in that beautiful house in Camden. Amy sitting in dusty bars and pubs, buying something late at night in a corner shop. Camden is one of my favourite parts of London and for me, Amy is a shining symbol of this place!

That’s why I couldn’t resist to buy a Amy Winehouse for Fred Perry knot blouse. I love the retro look of it. It shows pink Cadillacs, a kissing couple, records, music notes and dices, all drawn in a beautiful comic style. The Amy Winehouse Collection has been designed by Amy herself and was released after her death.

Camden is famous for it’s punk style. So I thought I needed at least one edgy piece to go with my outfit and chose a studded denim jacket. In the end, just something vintage was missing, cause there are many cool vintage shops in Camden too. In fact Camden is where I came to love vintage and discovered the first of this kind of shops. I choose an amazing polka dot skirt from Blenda Vintage (Zurich). It makes a wasp taille and I think it looks like it was made to be combined with the blouse.

I am especially proud of my glasses, because I decorated them myself after a DIY found on Honestly…WTF, my one and only favourite DIY blog. They are inspired by D&G’s fall collection and it’s very easy to make them on your own. I just ordered a pair of cat eye glasses on Ebay and some beautiful ceramic flowers on Etsy and used a little bit of glue to bring this things together. If you wanna have your own flower glasses as well, just go for plain glasses and keep in mind that they should have a broad frame.

Do I have any Amy Fans among my fans and what do you think about my outfit and glasses?

Lazy Oaf, fruits in fashion, summer look, tutti frutti fashion
Melons, bananas, grapes or strawberries? Let’s start with a juicy piece of melon.

What is the acme of happiness? Maybe it’s something simple: Sometimes I imagine it’s a bowl of colourful and funny fruits sharing each others company. What could be merrier and filled with more lust for life? Fruits always seem to me like happy little things, healthy all over and always smiling at me. No matter if bananas, melons, strawberries, pineapples or grapefruits, they all have interesting shapes and very joyful colours.
That’s exactly why I love this mixed fruit t-shirt from Lazy Oaf so much: It’s covered in fruits all over and brings fun into every wardrobe. The design reminds me of my teenage years with it’s clearly 90s inspired style. While wearing it, I instantly feel better all the time. The fruits seem to enlighten and brighten up my mind and skin. Being dressed in brown and beige is really not my cup of tea, I prefer going crazy for melons and bananas!
Besides the 90s I have to think of cheeky Carmen Miranda a lot, while wearing this outfit. The gorgeous and unforgettable lady with the Tutti Frutti hat. In case you haven’t seen her in her fabulous hat, now is the moment! This video is so amazing, everyone should watch it at least once in a lifetime. I regret that I didn’t think about her, when I wrote my post about “Fabulous Hats in Movies” (sadly it’s in German for all the English readers). This breathtaking hat should have been in the Top Three! My mixed fruit t-shirt is clearly not as extravagant as her hats, but perfect for a day at work or in the city, just for every day! Go for one too if you could use a little bit of happiness in your wardrobe!

The city is safe during Batgirl’s watch and everyone can live without fear.

A mighty hero has special abilities and uses them to save the city and humanity. Who doesn’t adore the comic heroes and heroines such as Batman, Spiderman or Wonder Woman? They experience amazing stories, full of tension and valour. From all the comic book heroes, Batman has always been my favourite. He has style, elegance and he can melt into the shadows with his cool black suit. Batman drives the coolest Cars and he lives in a huge manor. He’s a true Mister Perfect, don’t you think? My excitement for this character was awaken again when Christopher Nolan’s third Batman movie was close to come to the cinema.

A few weeks ago, Lazy Oaf announced their release of a Batman Collection. Of course I had to go for something from this collection straight away. There are many beautiful clothes and accessories for men and women, which made the decision difficult. In the end, my choice fell to this marvellous bodysuit. Every real heroine needs a bodysuit, don’t you think? Heroines don’t wear shirts, but always skintight suits.

Last weekend, my darling and me went to see the new Batman movie. Me in this outfit, he went for a batman t-shirt as well. People must have thought us being the biggest fans in the cinema. I am very glad that the movie didn’t disappoint us and I can proudly continue to wear my suit.

The Batman logo from the 90s is shown on the suit and I must say, I still prefer this to the new version of the logo. This one puts me back into the bubbly fantasy world of Tim Burton’s Batman. It’s far more colourful and quirky than Christopher Nolan’s more realistic version. If I would be in Burton’s Batman universe, I would be a bad, bad Batgirl and take the Penguin’s swan boat out for a ride, invite Michelle Pfeiffer dressed as Catwoman to join me and listen to David Bowie’s song “Heroes” together.

Which is your favourite comic book hero and are you in love with the Lazy Oaf’s Batman Collection too?

This is truly a spring romance, isn’t it?

Spring, the time when nature becomes vivid and colourful again. The grass is growing and flowers appear one after one. It’s the season of pastel-colours, new life and awakening. When the weather gets warmer and the sun is shining, people are craving to spend time outside. That’s exactly what I did yesterday. Of course with a spring themed outfit, including a very precious accessory:

I am very proud to show you my amazing hat from Hatastic. I think it looks like it has been made for a fairy tale tea party and I feel very ladylike while wearing it.

Hatastic is based in London and specialized in headpieces and hair accessories. Chloë Haywood, the designer of Hatstic, gets inspired by bits and bobs from junk shops. She loves to reuse and recycle fabrics and turn them into something new and wonderful. All her hats are handmade and very unique. Chloë says that she started making hats when she was looking for a fascinator for herself for a special wedding and couldn’t find one at the shops. It was a great success and she made more and more. She founded Hatastic 2009 and her company has been nominated for the “Accessory Designer Of The Year 2011”. For more information about Hatastic visit their website or their shop on Folksy.

With an accessory like this, I’m looking forward to many beautiful weekends! Who knows, maybe I’ll be invited to a tea party once.

Two Pineapples: Which one is more juicy?

After my post about the melon, here follows another fruit: The pineapple. This sweet and juicy fruit stands for self-confidence, hospitality and exotic. Christopher Columbus discovered it during an excursion to south africa and since then it has been very popular. Specially because you can make delicious cocktails and desserts with it.

As you might now, I’m a huge fan of funny shaped bags and my latest discovery is this very eye-catching pineapple bag from Asos. It has exactly the same size as a real pineapple and I think it’s a very lovely interpretation of the fruit. I love how the woven straps form the body of the fruit. It’s quiet spacious inside and I manage to carry around more than just phone and lipstick in it. The pineapple bag has a flip top opening with a press-stud fastening and a body strap with adjustable length. It’s a very funny feeling to sit in the train and open the pineapple to pick out the ticket.
I combine my pineapple bag with tropical print trousers and a simple coralline shirt. The colorful fruit nails make the outfit complete.

This pineapple is the perfect bag for a bright summer outfit. I’ll take it out for having a few cocktails (maybe even a Pina Colada). The pineapple will be the star of this summer for sure!

Tatty Devine, Melissa, Marc Jacobs, Agent Provocateur, Lazy Oaf, D&G

Sometimes (but not very often) you meet someone and know at first sight this person will have a place in your heart forever. It’s the same with fashion: It happens that you see a a special item and you are completely enchanted and never forget about. For various reasons it might happen that you don’t buy it. Maybe you keep a picture of it, pinned at a wall or hidden in a drawer. From time to time you might look at it, always with a bitter sweet feeling of regret.

I believe that fashion is not just about having the key pieces from the current collection of the designer of the moment, but about developing a personal style and find his own key pieces. Don’t trust in the latest trends, trust your taste!

Today I show you a few things I regret not buying. All of them are gone from the shops but I still wish to own one or all of them and keep browsing Ebay. If anyone out there has one of this items stored in the attic: Please step forward!

My unfulfilled fashion dreams:

Lady Dragon Cherry Shoes from Vivienne Westwood for Melissa
I love fruits in fashion and i love Melissa shoes, so this is the perfect shoe for me. I told myself that I already have three other styles of Lady Dragon shoes in exactly the same shape and didn’t buy it. How could I ever believe this just for a single second? Once I’ve seen a beautiful bride wearing them for her wedding on a blog, it was just perfect and I wished it was me.

Fireworks Necklace from Tatty Devine
As a girl with a growing Tatty Devine Collection I should definitely own this necklace. I think it’s among their most beautiful pieces they ever made and it brings sweet memories of bonfire night into my mind.

Metal Corset Belt from Dolce&Gabbana
I even considered hiring a smith to make me something similar to this but I just couldn’t find someone who was experienced in doing anything else expect horse shoes and knives. I didn’t buy this belt because it was far too expensive. My bank account is thankful, but am I?

Watermelon Skirt from Lazy Oaf
This is the most recent item on my list. Another fruit-thing. I didn’t order this amazing skirt because I wasn’t sure about the perfect size. I read on another blog that it’s very, very tiny. Now it’s gone and I’m jealous of everyone who has one.

Bikini from Agent Provocateur
This is the perfect bikini for a modern Pin-up! I love the combination of denim and gingham with the incredibly cute fake pockets. The fact that I didn’t had any beach holidays planed prevented me from buying it and makes me still regretting.

Fake Fur Jacket from Country Road
I was living out of the suitcase for months when i found this jacket. I knew all I can carry with me has to be less than 30 kg. That’s why I didn’t buy this big fluffy animal of a jacket. Till today I can’t say if the material reminds me more of fur or feathers. I’ve seen some similar jackets, but never one as beautiful as this.

I am very curious if you are have a list like mine in your head as well. What piece of fashion do you regret not buying?

By the way: This is my first post in English. Since I started my blog I couldn’t decide about the language. I started to write in German cause there are not so many similar blogs to mine in German and for my friends who can’t speak English. Let me know which language you prefer!
