I am the Scrooge McDuck of fashion. While Uncle Scrooge takes a bath in money, I feel the happiest diving into my wardrobe and hoard my textile treasures. Some not fashion people might say this is a waste of money. I disagree because it makes me so very happy. When Uncle Scrooge counts money, I count sequins. And I feel the dramatic need for more, constantly! Life is too short to spend it with cold metal, so I exchange it for soft fabrics.

But let me tell you another thing, like every coin has two sides, so do I: Sometimes even I feel an overdose of consumption and I am not all material girl. I take responsibility for our environment, think about what it means to have the things produced that I wear and buy a lot from small designers instead of big chains. I don’t want to waste resources and just buy what I cherish. A completely new look very often doesn’t need everything new, but just one key piece.

This is what I prove with this look. Everything in this look has already been in my wardrobe. Just the top is new: Sara Di Salvo’s (Hot Couture) mirror print shirt is a true game changer. Aren’t the sequin sleeves divine? They look like pure gold when all the sequins face the same direction. As soon as I discovered they were silver on the other side, I had to play with them. The disarranged structure I gave them for the pictures made me think of a very casual attempt on Alexander McQueen and his designs inspired by mysterious undersea creatures. Do you agree so, dear Uncle Scrooge?

How to style a nautical look without being cliché? This is what I tried today, so instead of stripes I wear a pleated skirt as my modern interpretation of a mermaid’s tail.

The look doesn’t spot the classical blue and white nautical style, but a mixture of lilac, silver and blue. Metallic pieces go very well with a nautical look, just think of shiny treasures hidden in the depths of the sea. I know I’m such a dreamer, but I’ll never stop my fascination for mystical creatures, no way!

The highlight of this look is my silk scarf by Cléo Ferin Mercury (See my post about their SS15 Nautical collection here). The print is even better than in real, and my neck loves the good quality. I think this is a piece I’m going to keep forever. It’s a perfect scarf for the current time between winter and spring, and I hope it will protect me from catching another cold while I’m living my dreams of being a fashion siren.

What does the future bring? Where will we go and what doors will close and open? Are our dreams too big or will reality even exceed them? Today’s future is tomorrow’s past, and there will always be new questions.

Thinking too much about the future sometimes distracts from the present. But it’s the here and now we are living in, and today is never coming back. So live it, breath every bit of air like it’s something special and enjoy yourself! Don’t spend your days following others dictating you what to do, but follow your own path.

Nobody knows what tomorrow brings. Very often, we can’t even guess the little surprises life will drop in front of our door, not to mention the big life events.

When somebody wanted to discuss with me the new it-colour grey a few months ago, I just refused to believe that I would wear grey. Grey is for mouses, for people without joy and courage. Well, look at me now! I’m wearing grey, and it feels edgy and futuristic.

I watched Barbarella a while ago a and this jumper made me think of her fluffy spaceship. It’s easy to style a science fiction look if you have a haircut like mine. Just add shiny metallics like my new fantastic shoes from Voegele Shoes and the Maison Martin Margiela candy clutch, and ready is the fashion ship commander!

I think my sense of fashion benefits from watching old science fiction movies… Let’s stay inside and boldly go through the DVD collection (where no man has ever gone before)!

Fairy Or Not: I’m the Godmother!

Sometimes perfectionism keeps me from showing you my most beloved looks: The light is not right, I have a bad hair day, I don’t feel beautiful enough – whatever excuse I can find keeps me from being a good blogger. This outfit waited in my wardrobe for a very long time. I bought it for the baptism of my godchild last autumn, a very special occasion.

Because my little girl is half-Japanese, half-German I wanted to wear something with a hint of Japanese flair. Vivetta seemed the perfect choice and a bag from Korean label Yesimfrench completes my look. Even if I love statement jewellery, for this event I went for less: A baby and big necklaces and chunky rings just don’t go very well together.

I was very nervous at the baptism. As well I wanted to look especially pretty, because the pictures taken at the day might cause how she sees me in the future. Probably they will decide if I am the old crone or the cool auntie in her life…

I am so grateful for taking part in the life of this girl. I loved her from the very first time I saw her, and maybe she will be an accomplice in living a life in pink…

Futuristic Feet: Hologram Shoes for the Science Fiction movie star feeling

Despite my last autumn look, I am back to a summer outfit today. I spent last weekend in a sunny London. The desire to dress to be a walking colour boost is stronger than ever. London always encourages me to be the boldest me I can imagine. Thank you, best place in the world, I love you just so much.

I also went shopping a little at the weekend and bought a few things for winter. But as long as the weather allows, I’ll continue to be your summer girl and stick to my sandals and bare arms. The time for scarves and heavy boots will be long enough. It’s good to buy them now and be prepared, but they can stay in the wardrobe for a while.

The current whitish/greyish shade of my hair makes me feel a little bit like an elf. Doesn’t it work very well with the bright neons, because of its (almost) absence of colour? It feels edgier than my usual pink hair, especially which those Alexander Wang sunglasses. The lilac hair dye fades even faster than the pink one, and it turns every day into a new shade. Yesterday it was very bluish. I’m going back to pink very soon because my heart just beats for the Barbie colour. But a change is always good, my lovelies. Never stop to change, embrace it and let it carry you away to places better than you could have ever imagined in your dreams!

Yay, it’s weekend, finally! I can’t tell you how much this makes me jump from joy. I just want to sing, dance in circles, drink Pimms and laugh about silly things while wearing my biggest fascinator and killer heels.

This week seemed never-ending and very hard: I left London again and still feel so heartbroken. I just love this city with all my heart and hate this exclusion from my personal paradise. As well I was buried under a sky-high pile of work at my daytime job, and there was no time left to prepare everything I intended to do for you. It stings and feels like disappointing you.

What helps more to brighten up a dark time like this than looking at beautiful things? I wish that my favorites of the week let your eyes shine, just as they did with mine. I already bought three of the things. Maybe you can guess which ones, you clever things?

The probably most comfy and warm boots I’ll ever have: My pink Dr. Martens.

Yes, I love everything cute, but today cuteness includes a hint of punk. The dress I am wearing is from my favourite Spanish label Yiddish Chutzpah. Their latest collection (which I introduced here) is inspired by punk and designer Gema Alonso influenced me too in how I styled my dress.

Of course there are no other shoes than Doc Martens to be considered. Because I am no true punk but rather a candy girl, I choose pink ones with a cosy pink fur on the inside. I must say, they are probably the best fitted shoes for winter I ever had. It’s no coincidence, they are popular among postmen and police officers (of course not in my pink version).

A punk inspired look is never complete without fishnet tights and a few studs. As a contrast I wear my new cat fascinator from my hat genie Pearls & Swine. The silver dress reminds me a little bit of a garment for a female super heroine. A futuristic cat-woman, why not? When it’s cold outside, I am a huge fan of staying home and watching science fiction movies, maybe it reflects already in what I wear. At the moment I am very much into Star Trek again, just like in my teenage years.

Even I agree, that it takes a little bit of courage, to walk through the city like this, but I think “Let them stare, at least I can make sure they see something extraordinary today.”

Summer season is coming to an end and the new trends are ready to enter your wardrobe. In the following weeks, I plan to tell you about my fashion highlights for next season.

Let’s start with a sparkling trend first: Holograms. They have been seen in the spring/summer collections of Burberry, Stella McCartney and Jonathan Saunders, now they invade high street fashion. Holograms give a futuristic touch to your outfits instantly. Barbarella meets glam rock disco.

When days get colder and the sky more gray, something glittering is just the perfect choice. They don’t need be combined with a lot of accessories, because they are very strong on their own.Wear them together with black or white as an eye-catcher or mix them with strong colours for an even more exciting look.

Hello world, I feel like sparkling today. Gosh, I am so in love with these glasses, bought from Her Tiny Teeth. They are the most shiny accessory I ever owned. Like a disco ball, they spread their reflections everywhere. The glasses makes me feel like I am a mermaid barbie in my own kitschy disco kingdom. Isn’t it great, if fashion causes feelings like this? I bet no mouse gray jumper will ever manage something similar, no matter how expensive it was. I am so much enchanted by the spell of this glasses, I can’t even put them in my drawer or handbag. If I don’t wear them, they usually lie on my table and cheer me up with their rainbow colours. A few days ago, a lovely parcel with this clutch arrived. I opened it and since then the clutch was lying close to the glasses. The two of them loved each other at first sight and I started to think about the diamonds of the glasses as a rare treasure hidden in the deep, deep jungle and guarded by an army of toucans.

While we did the shooting for this post, a lot of families with children crossed us on their way to enjoy the wonderful weather outside. Most of them were wearing very casual clothes, fit for having a barbecue in the nature or going for a walk. They were staring at me with big eyes and a few of them shouted “Lady Gaga” after me again and again. Do I mind? Yes I do. Do I want to change? No, I don’t. Dear people out there, I just follow my mind and I am happy to be who I am. I like it wild, I like it metallic and I like it a little bit barbie. Lovely readers, would you do me a favour? Please go to your wardrobe, grab out a lovely piece you bought but never dared to wear and combine it with something you love. I am sure you will feel bold and look radiant. Go out like this, smile and be confident. I believe that people have a certain shine when they dare to express themselves. I would love to cross your way, if you wear your secret fashion dreams. It would be like a meeting of diamonds, far away from the jungle, but home.

Dancing with the Sphinx

Sorry but I needed a jacket, it’s not summer yet.

This necklace has an Egyptian touch too, even if there is not as much gold on it as King Tut had on his collar.

My metallic skirt shines brighter than any Pharaoh’s treasure.

Did you know he is called “Abu al-Hol” (father of terror) as well? I can’t see why, he doesn’t look creepy at all.

The Ancient Egyptians loved jewellery, so do I.

It’s said that the sphinx speaks in riddles. I don’t know. During all my visits to Egypt, she didn’t say a word, but always impressed me with her majestic appearance. I love to be in Gizeh, to walk around the pyramids and spend hours there. All the tourists who travel in groups have a tight time table and hurry from pyramid to museum to bus and so on, I love to linger in the presence of the sphinx. When I think of Egypt, I always feel the longing to go there again, it’s not just a travel destination for me, but I truly fell in love with this country it’s history and people. While I am far away, I am happy to have at least a little bit of Egyptian inspiration in my outfit with my bodysuit from Bambam. Isn’t it gorgeous? I instantly felt happy, after putting it on for the first time, I listened to the song at the bottom of this post and just wanted to dance like an Egyptian.

If you say one thing about the Pharaohs, say that they love jewellery and shiny things. Because of this, I thought it appropriate to combine my bodysuit with a metallic skirt from Missguided. It’s so shiny, King Tut might be jealous if he could see it. It’s available in a few other colours as well and I have the mad plan to get them all.
