I have already packed my bag. See you in rainbow land!

When it comes to art, Jeff Koons is one of the first artists I mention when asked about my favorites. His work is a dance on the border between cult and kitsch to me, there is humour in it and every artwork of his seems to twinkle with one eye. Koons’ art makes me happy, like a bright outfit does. Most of my other favourite artists, create dark, disturbing or surreal work and I think this has nothing to do with my taste in fashion (expect if I am in the gothic mood, which happens every now and then). Koons’ work on the other hand, walks hand in hand with all the other things I love in life, especially my taste of fashion: It’s like a dream from a world full of rainbows.

Do you remember my Art Inspires Fashion post about Jeff Koons? I wanted to wear the outfit since I posted it and couldn’t get it out of my mind. Now the moment is here and I can finally present you me wearing the Jeff Koon’s inspired outfit. It is not exactly the proposal from that post, but a little bit a changed version.  The multi sequin skirt from Asos, the Kate Rohde bangle and the Maison Martin Margiela for HM handbag, follow exactly the inspiration post. I combine them with similar pieces as proposed from my existing wardrobe. There is even a big improvement to the inspiration post: After posting it,  Pearls & Swine created this wonderful fascinator, which reminded me of Koons’ shiny tulip sculptures at first sight.

The fascinator is the key piece of the outfit, together with the handbag. The Maison Martin Margiela for HM bag fits very well, because Koons often reproduces everyday’s objects in oversized versions. This giant candy wrap follows a similar idea. The difference between it and a Koons artwork is, that I can use it to carry around my stuff, while Koons’ colossal sculptures are released from a practical use and wait for admiration only.

I just have to say something too about the Kate Rohde bangle: It’s a magical thing and I wear it like a talisman. I can watch again and again how it looks when the sun shines on it. It’s the most amazing bangle I ever had, it looks like it was made in a crystal wonderland, where Koons’ balloon dogs chase each other playing hide and seek. All in all, this outfit is the most colourful one, I showed you for a while and I think all the strong colours have a lot of positive energy. I hope you feel it too and it makes you smile.

So now I want to hear from you: How do you like this look?

Christmas is the time of the angels and as well the opportunity for you to become one! All you need to spread your wings are the right accessories. There is a heavenly touch for every kind of outfit: A winged backpack for your casual outfits (Lostmannequin), an elegant fascinator for going out in the evening (Pearls & Swine), jelly shoes for dancing like a disco angel (Vivienne Westwood for Melissa at Asos) and jewellery for everyday (Ring from Wildfox at Jades24, Necklace from Tatty Devine).

As a little girl, I played an angel in the Christmas play at our school. I had long blond hair and my mother curled it for me. My halo was made of golden cardboard and I wore a long white dress (probably made of curtain fabric). Our lovely teacher was the makeup artist and used a lot of glitter and light pink lipstick to finish the look. I always loved to dress up, to act and to sing. Doing all this things while being dressed up as an angel was a lot of excitement for a little girl.

This accessories remind me of that moment and give me a warm feeling. I just can’t decide which of this wings shall be mine… What do you like best?

Pearls and Swine, fascinator, headwear, christmas

Why not going for really sophisticated headgear for Christmas instead of topping your head with stupid reindeer antlers from the fun shop? Even if your dress is rather plain, the right fascinator will turn you into the brightest star of the evening. This is the “not very” Christmas range 2012 from Pearls & Swine. Breathtaking headpieces made for girls who like to dress up, but are maybe a little bit tired of the usual christmas kitsch. Among the creations full of fantasy, there is a purple bambi waiting for you as well as a pretty red winter rose and a Carmen Miranda inspired fruit hat.

It’s very hard to decide on a favourite from this range, but I am madly in love with the disco and glitter balls fascinator with the name Space Oddity (shown in the middle). Metallic colours are one of the big things in fashion for spring and that’s why I am convinced this one will have a lot of wonderful appearances. I can’t stop thinking about how it would look with a pink Maison Martin Margiela for H&M candy clutch (seen in this post) or a metallic trench coat form Burberry Prorsum (seen at Vogue). Another highlight are is the red shoes fascinator, called Dorothy’s delight. Which girl doesn’t dream of being Dorothy from Wizard of the Oz and having magical glitter shoes?

The nice side effect of this range not being christmas themed in a very classical way is, you can easily wear most of the pieces during the whole year. So please dear Santa, bring me the disco balls fascinator, the red shoes fascinator and something beautiful form this range to every other nice girl! If you can’t get enough of this wonderful headwear like me: There is more on the Pearls & Swine page, waiting to be discovered.

Which fascinator is the highlight of the Christmas or New Years Eve outfit of your dreams?

Look what arrived in my mailbox: It’s the “Caramelos” dress from Yiddish Chutzpah! With all the snow outside I don’t dare to wear my new dress outside, but I love to turn the house floor into my catwalk. I just couldn’t wait to share it with you. I feel like a little candy fairy. The dress fits perfectly and the pattern made by Gema of Yiddish Chutzpah is adorable. My darling was bedazzled when he saw me and we started to dream of a picnic next spring. The magic of cute and pink things has a lot of power over me and this dress makes me happy a lot. Actually it was just the right thing to get rid of my winter mood.

Girls are not just craving for candy, but for glitter too! I have this as well: The pink fascinator from Peals & Swine is a bright glitter star. Tinker Bell would be jealous and I almost expected it to turn my lollipop into a ward and spread sparkles all around. It’s as well a cool fascinator for a christmas outfit, if you don’t play the summer girl at the moment.

My Lolita look gave me the opportunity to wear girly jelly shoes. Of course not elegant high heels, but cute ones made for running over meadows and catching butterflies. I could wear this comfortable shoes from Juju all the time. Especially with cute socks, they look very girly. To complete the look I went into a place I loved since I was a little girl: The candy store. I always had a sweet tooth and it was fun to wear candy jewellery again. I couldn’t resist to eat a lot of it right after the shooting. If the candy on the dress would be edible, I’m afraid it would be gone too.

I hope this outfit put you into a sweet mood and made you forget about the nasty weather outside. Are you enchanted by dress and fascinator, my lovelies?

I must tell you something: I am addicted to pompoms. I want to make a hundred (or even better a thousand) of them by myself and put them everywhere. My grandmother even had clothes hangers with little pompoms sewn onto them, so maybe this love is something I inherited. Pom poms are fluffy, funny and they will be my best friends this winter! Sad as it is, I didn’t make a single pompom since I was a little girl and can’t remember how to. But this is no reason to despair, because there are so many cute pieces waiting out there, ready for shopping. I think I can’t resist to treat myself with at least some of this goodies.

Pompoms remind me as well of Star Trek: Did you watch the old episodes of Star Trek and do you remember the tribbles? I love the scene when the whole floor of the space ship was full of tribbles. They remind me of pom poms a lot and I would love to have the whole floor covered with them. Imagine what a fluffy and beautiful world it would be, with a few pompom-tribbles hang around everywhere!

So don’t wait any longer: Help the pom poms to invade the gray streets!
Which is your favourite pompom piece?

Finally I can’t pretend any longer that summer will never leave. So this is my first autumn outfit. It took a long time until I finally could make my mind up for this season and say goodbye to my beloved summer. Summer is the season of fun and bold colours. I don’t want to turn into a wall flower during colder days as well! I believe most of the typical autumn colours, such as brown and orange, don’t suit me very well. They don’t fit to my pale skin and cold blue eyes. Burgundy and dark green are better, so I stay with them, today with the green, combined with a few fancy details:

Feathers on my head and cat shoes on my feet, that’s how I decided to go out today. I am in love with this fascinator from Pearls & Swine a lot. It makes me instantly feel glamourous. It has a little bit of a gothic look which makes it even more mysterious and to my liking. The feathers shimmer in different shades of green. I could imagine very well sitting in a dusty jazz bar in New York, listening to sad love songs while wearing this fascinator.

Another recent fashion find are this cat wedges: You do know that I love everything cute and funny so I needed them in my life from the moment they caught my eye. They are very high and I do feel like a long-leged girl with my cats. The height takes away a little bit the cuteness and allows them to be combined with elegant outfits as well.

So this are my autumn animals accompany me this autumn. The cats on the ground, the bird feathers higher up in the air on my head. What do you think about my first autumn look? Do you love autumn fashion wise?

Do you ever dream of being a beautiful bird with colourful feathers? Among all the birds, there are not many with pink feathers and that’s why the flamingo has a special fascination. I can’t transform myself into a bird, but a dream came true when this amazing flamingo headpiece from Pearls & Swine arrived in my life. When I put it on my head for the first time, I had to jump into the air, overfilled with joy. I can’t understand why a lot of people never even consider to wear a headpiece or fascinator, while I want to put everything what I like on my head. Why bothering with small brooches or necklaces if there is so much space on your head for something big and bright? A headpiece can be very playful and fun: Be the flower girl with a crown of roses, say goodbye to dark days with colourful pompoms or decorate yourself with a beautiful flamingo, just as I!

Wearing my flamingo headpiece makes me feel different, it changes the ordinary girl into something extraordinary. The wings move slightly when I walk and the pink glitter sparkles in the sun. The colour is very flashy and powerful. Fit for a flamingo fairy.

Of course you can’t buy something as beautiful as this in a department store, but that makes it even more precious. I am very happy, that I found my personal favourite hatter: Pearls & Swine. Run by lovely Bink. This shop is a true wonderland and wearing the things makes you feel like a queen. Not just the creations from the homepage are great, the best is to talk to Bink and make your personal hat dreams come true with a bespoke piece. My favourite animal (besides the cat) is the flamingo, so that was my wish and of course Bink made it come true. The shiny bird was made better than I could dream of. I am in flamingo heaven now, where everything is pink and pretty!

What do you think about this headpiece and what is your own hat dream?

Is fashion something shallow? Do you loose sight of the truly important questions in life if you occupy your mind too much with how to dress? A lot of people would agree, but I am convinced by the opposite: My wardrobe is a place full of tales about love, joy, tears and unexpected happenings, just as my bookshelf. The difference is, that clothes don’t tell stories about Mr. Darcey, Romeo and Juliet or Gulliver. They remind me of what I experienced while wearing them.

There is the dress I wore when I met my one true love, very close to my grandmother’s ear muffs and the shirt from last christmas party with my all my beloved. My clothes are as well souvenirs from all the places I visited. They keep a little bit of the spirit of countries form all over the world in my closet.

My outfit today just arrived in my life and it still needs to find it’s story. But it’s not blank as a white sheet, even now it knows a lot about overcoming temptation as well as about taking the bait:
I was in love with this vintage dress, when I spotted it in the webshop of Dotti’s, but tried to resist until someone else snatched it away. Later I figured out, the one who ordered it was not another girl, eager to wear it for a glittering summer, party but my darling. He couldn’t resist to buy it for me and made my eyes sparkle when I opened the box.

With the shoes it’s a similar story: It’s no secret that I am absolutely crazy about Melissa shoes. I am addicted to their distinctive bubblegum scent and the shiny jelly material. I am always waiting for their new collections like a little child is waiting for Santa Claus. This ones have been among my favorites of the recent summer collection but I’ve just seen them once in a shop in London and already had a bunch of shopping bags on my arm. I was browsing through a lot of online shops for them afterwards without success. A few weeks ago, I got a lovely voucher from Mirapodo and had a look at their good choice of products. That was when I found the magical red shoes again, on sale and available in my size. No need to guess that I took the bait.

This shoes and the beautiful dress must be destined to carry me into a story like Dorothy’s adventures in Oz, don’t you think so? I wish all my readers the experience of beautiful stories as well!

Was habt ihr euch schon verrücktes gekauft?
