Mugler, Aura, perfume review

Everybody knows: I am a Mugler girl! I love to watch videos of old Mugler fashion shows and even if I like a lot of perfumes, there is one I always return: Mugler’s Alien, my only true love when it comes to perfumes.

Therefore I was very curious when I heard about Aura, the new Mugler scent. I just knew that it must be innovative and different to all the mainstream on the perfume shelves. The emerald green bottle looks unmistakable Mugler and extraordinarily beautiful. Like all Mugler flacons, it’s refillable which is a big plus in times when sustainability becomes more and more an issue. Like Angel and Alien, its name starts with an “A,” standing for the brand’s theme “addiction. The silver part of the bottle forms an “M” for Mugler like a bold signature.

But let’s move to the essential thing and discuss how it smells: Aura is a woody aromatic fragrance. It features rhubarb leaf, tiger liana, orange blossom, bourbon vanilla and wolf wood. The concept of Aura is “botanical meets animal, ” and it creates a magical aura with an overdose of both two components.

My first impression was that it’s a sweet but somehow wild musky scent. Not as crazy as Angel and Alien, but challenging and imposing. I have to think of Emerald City hidden in a thick jungle when I see the beautiful green heart. After wearing Aura for few times, I like it even better, and it grew on me. I caught myself smelling my wrist very often while wearing it and missing it when it’s gone.

Like all Mugler perfumes, Aura is not everybody’s darling, but the seekers of uniqueness will fall for it not despite but because of its edginess. Wearing Aura is not a safe play, but a fragrance for the adventurous woman on a bold journey called life.

Aura, you will sit next to Alien on my shelf, and I’ll be happy to have you keeping me company and telling me to listen to my feline instincts! Yes I am addicted.

Everybody who lives in Switzerland knows: It’s no shopping paradise for beauty products because they are far more expensive than in the neighbouring countries. Retailers put it mostly on the higher salaries and the exchange rate fluctuations. Ordering from abroad is no solution since you have to bear very high customs duties sometimes.

beautycare.ch:
More is More, unless when it comes to prices!

The founders of the online shop beautycare.ch were convinced it must be possible to get beauty products for less in Switzerland. With their network of sellers and contacts, they found ways to make this vision come true. Nowadays they sell two-thirds of products cheaper than 140 other shops. They offer hair products, cosmetics, and perfume, all for women and men. Besides the well-known big brands every good department store has on their shelves, you will find a few rarer gems as well.

My order:
A tropical dream in a bottle

My first order was a bottle of Creed Virgin Island Water. It’s one of those perfumes you don’t find in every department store, and even if it got recommended to me by a friend, I never had the chance to try it. The name of this unisex scent promises a scent like from a tropical paradise, and therefore I was curious.

Just to make it clear: If you don’t like coconuts, better stop reading! If you are a coconut sucker like me, Virgin Island Water will be a revelation. It’s THE ultimate coconut scent, it smells holiday in a bottle, distinctive and unique at the same time. My first spritz made me fall in love with the uplifting cocktail of coconut, lime, and ginger.

While the bottle looks rather masculine, I can imagine many men would not favour it, because of the many sweet notes like vanilla, hibiscus, white rum, sugar cane and jasmine, but my girly nose is enchanted.

I found my summer fragrance, and I might wear it the whole winter as well to keep dreaming of a beautiful coconut island!

Summer is approaching and with it the time where you don’t feel like wearing heavy perfumes. Caudalie’s Eau Fraîche Series might be the answer: It’s fresh like a summer garden and just a subtle hint of scent that lingers on your skin. Store one of the beautiful bottles in your desk drawer and refresh yourself several times a day.

Since all Eau Fraîches are not photosensitive – unlike most perfumes – you can wear them during the whole summer without being afraid of the sun.

There are five Eau Fraîches available, I tested four of them for you, including the newest addition to the line launched this June.

Rose de Vigne
A floral fragrance with roses, berries, rhubarb, magnolia, and musk, launched in 2015.

I believe they are two sorts of people when it comes to rose fragrances: People who love them and people who hate them. If you belong to the first kind (like me), this might be for you, with its fruity and floral charm. The lovely pink bottle gets an extra point from me.

Fleur de Vigne
The Fleur de Vigne is a flower that only blooms a few days in June, heralding the grape harvest 110 days later. This lightweight green water combines white rose, pink pepper, and watermelon with grapefruit, mandarin, and cedar. It was the first Eau Fraîche from Caudalie, released 2002.

In my opinion, it is the freshest and most uplifting fragrance of all. It feels very energizing and like a little trip to a shady summer garden.

Figue de Vigne
As the name says, the star of this Eau Fraîche is the fig. It mingles with citrus fruit notes and white wood in the 2015 launched fragrance.

My least favourite Eau Fraîche from Caudalie, even if fruity fragrances are booming at the moment. I think it smells slightly like a sweet soap or a nice cleaning liquid. Maybe it’s because I am not a big lover of the scent of figs anyway, but this is just not my Eau Fraîche.

Eau des Vignes
The newest addition to the Eau Fraîche Series is a composition of bergamot, iris and white musk. It was launched in June 2017.

It was love at first smell: It’s sparkling, sensual and vitalising. I want to smell it again and again and think we will become close friends this summer. If I had to choose one favourite smell in the world, it would be the one of bergamot, just like a fresh cup of Earl Grey tea and this fragrance captures my beloved scent very well. Yes, yes, yes Eau des Vignes, I love you very much!

Living Lalique, review, fragrance
Living Lalique: A fragrance that captures London, Paris and New York in one fragrance.

It comes in a stunning glass bottle with golden birds on the top.
Living Lalique, review, fragrance
A truly elegant fragrance for the cosmopolitan woman.

I won a bottle of the newly released Living Lalique on the SchuSchu blog. Thanks so much to the lovely couple Anja & Liridon as well as to Lalique. Because I don’t keep the best things for myself, I wrote a review for you.

The floral woody fragrance was created by Richard Ibañez for Lalique. As a modern and multi-faceted fragrance, Living Lalique captures three of the most lively cities – London, Paris and New York –  in its scent. This fragrance was made for an urban woman living a cosmopolitan lifestyle.

The first wow effect is the bottle: The stunning design is clearly reminiscent of the master glass works in Art Nouveau and continues the story of Lalique as the creator of the most amazing flacons. You’d like to have this in your bathroom just because of its design.

Forgive me for indulging in praise of the bottle and let’s come to the most important thing,: The smell. The top note of the fragrance is an eclectic mixture of crystalline bergamot, spicy black pepper and aromatic nutmeg. Elegant iris builds the heart of the fragrance, mixed with sweet vanilla and almond-scented tonka bean. Living Lalique finishes with smooth sandalwood, smoky vetiver and voluptuous cashmere wood in the dry-down note.

My first impression was a wave of woody and vanilla notes which comes with a very comforting feeling. Despite the sweetness of vanilla, the scent could almost be a unisex fragrance. It evokes feelings of my teenage days when I was very fond of Emporio Armani’s Lei. Both fragrances dance virtuously between feminity and masculinity in my opinion. Living Lalique makes me sniff again and again at my wrist, and I’ve been wearing it every day for the last week.

Yes, I do love this fragrance. It’s not just another one in my collection, but a new favourite. I am living with Living Lalique from now on!

Amethyst Éclat from Lalique: This fragrance starts the berry season right now!
It comes in an elegant bottle with silver vines and a touch of Art Nouveau.
Just a drop of this and you might forget about winter.
This seductive perfume, ready to enchant and linger on your skin.

I was very lucky to win a bottle of the just released Lalique Amethyst Éclat fragrance on the SchuSchu blog. I can’t share the perfume with you, but I thought you might like to read a review.

Lalique is an 1886 founded French label, closely connected to luxury. Their founder René Lalique was an ingenious Art Nouveau artist, who made the most amazing jewellery and crystal glass objects. Long after his death, the magic of Lalique continues with their creations of jewellery, perfumes and glass art.

Their newest fragrance Amethyst Éclat is a successor to Amethyst from 2007. It’s inspired by a gemstone and a very cheerful, sweet and juicy fragrance. It opens with black current, combined with raspberry and nashi pears. The heart of Amethyst Éclat is a combination of rose, peony and magnolia, accompanied by Oxalis violate, blackberry and musk for a base.

This very feminine perfume comes in a purple bottle, decorated with silvery peony and berries – a touch of Art Nouveau but newly interpreted. Lalique has launched a limited edition in a crystal bottle based on designs by René Lalique for those who seek the pure luxury (about 1000 £).

My impression of Amethyst Éclat is that it smells like an opulent garden in spring, full of ripe berries. It’s light but rather intense and lingers for a long time on my skin. I was surprised at first try that Lalique releases a fragrance like this in winter, but then it’s lovely to have something awaking the dreams about spring when it is cold outside…

Thanks to SchuSchu for letting me win this perfume.

Givenchy, Dahlia Divin, Review

Givenchy, Dahlia Divin, Review

Givenchy: A label surrounded by the mystic aura of luxury. Their newly released fragrance Dahlia Divin is a graceful and feminine, but not offensive fragrance. Dahlia Divin is centred around a Sambac jasmine note on a woody-chypre base. Sandalwood, patchouli and vetiver are the base notes of this well-balanced, floral perfume.

If you are looking for a delightful scent for autumn to wear every day, this might be your perfect choice. Dahlia Divin is made for a sensual and sublime woman, intending to turn her into a modern goddess.

R&B queen Alicia Keys is the face of Dahlia Devin and has written a song especially for this occasion. The campaign is shot by photographer god Tim Walker himself in Versailles. Especially Alicia’s golden Givenchy gown is breathtaking and enhances her pureness and glamorous beauty.

My opinion about Dahlia Divin:
I was very curious about Dahlia Divin, because I love jasmine and sandalwood in general. Like a ray of sunlight, it comes with a strong blast of white flowers. The scent is rather long-lasting, especially the vetiver lingers very long on the skin. It makes even an edgy girl like me feel very ladylike.

Dahlia Divin is a fragrance to wear for professional or dressy occasions rather than to make a bold statement on a date. It’s a lovely perfume when you have the feeling that you need something smooth for the cold days.

Valeur Absolue: Mood-Related fragrances with the benefit of natural ingredients.

All of the fragrances contain something precious in their bottle. This is “Sensualité” with mother-of-pearl.

On the right you see “Harmonie” with amethyst.
Review, Valeur Absolue, fragrance, Harmonie
All on the left is “Joie-Eclat” with mother-of-pearl.

Let me tell you about Valeur Absolue, a new Swiss perfume brand that claims to bring you more than just perfumes. “Valeur Absolue is a name that implies something that is absolutely essential and ultimately worthy”says Bénédicte Foucart, president and CEO of the company about their products. Valeur Absolue are three perfumes made from the best natural integrants and all of them mood-related. They all contain Areaumat Perpetua, a natural extract which stimulates the so called “well-being” molecules.

Valeur Absolue Harmonie
This scent is like a calming tea ritual and based around musk. Neroli bigarade and Earl Gray form a harmony with woody notes and vanilla. High quality essential oils of bergamot and orange flower are added for a relaxing effect, while potassium and manganese provide energizing qualities. The amethyst stones in the bottle are encompassed within the bottle as a visible symbol for harmony.

Valeur Absolue Sensualité
A perfume that reflects the curves of a woman. Floral, woody and musky notes create this super-feminine fragrance. Rose de Mai, white jasmine, exotic white flowers and soft tones of cedar wood are combined with mysterious amber and musk. Mother-of-pearl in the bottle symbolizes love and feminity.

Valeur Absolue Joie-Eclat
Sparkling like a glass of champagne, the fizzy Joie-Eclat contains fresh tangerine and green cardamon as well as fine vetiver, tuberose, grapefruit and vetiver. From all the three, this is the fragrance that stays on the skin for the longest. with it’s fresh and elegant note. The first time ever, diamond powder has been used in a perfume, as a visible sign of sparkle.

After testing all the three fragrances, I must say that wearing all of them feels very good. Fitting to the fact that I am a curvy girl, Sensualité is my favourite. I love floral feminine perfumes, especially if they contain jasmine. I think it’s the most dominant of the three fragrances and it lingers pretty long on my skin. Especially Harmonie is a little bit too soothing for my taste, but I am sure many girls will love it as a beautiful everyday fragrance.

I don’t believe in aroma therapy, so I can’t say that the special additions to the perfume actually have an effect on me, but nonetheless all of the three perfumes seem precious to me. I love that they added amethyst, mother-of-pearl and diamond powder to the bottles, it makes them very unique and a pretty addition to every perfume collection.

Valeur Absolue is available at specialized retailers and from www.valeurabsolue.com

Do you believe that a scent can influence the well-being of the mind and which one of the three Valeur Absolue scents would you pick?

A new precious crystal joins the Omnia family

A pretty bottle, but an even more exquisite scent inside
new perfume, bulgari omnia, crystalline, eau de parfume
If this scent would be a colour, I imagine it must be a powdery pink

Time for a little confession: When it comes to perfumes, I have a religion and it’s called Bulgari. Every time Bulgari releases a new frequency, I am a little bit anxious to try it and fear to be disappointed for the very first time.

The first impression from Bvlgari Omina Crystalline Eau de Parfum was that it is a tender and very feminine fragrance full of warmth and cleanness. A perfume perfect to wear for a first date. Not blatant or scandalous, but exquisite and sexy in a subtle way. The rosy powdery scent is very sensual and gives you a feeling of luxury and noble exclusivity.

Rare lotus flower, smooth orris concrete and white sandalwood are the most important scents of Bulgari Omnia Crystalline EdP. Despite it smells surprisingly soft for an EdP, it’s rather long-lasting. I feel like being wrapped in something very smooth while wearing it and I have to think of a secret cave hidden beneath a waterfall. I would really recommend you to try this perfume as well and I can honestly say it’s my favourite from all the five Omnia versions.
