Close your eyes for a second and imagine your city. Think of everything that belongs to the place from the gray streets full of black, red and blue cars to the flashy signs of shops, numerous people hurrying from A to B, passing yellow crosswalks and gray buildings under a light blue sky. Now think which colour you saw the least often!

Maybe orange, or purple? But wait, no: It was pink, right? Possibly there was a little girl with a pink unicorn balloon or maybe you even imagined me entering a beauty store, but I bet there was little or even no pink in your imaginative city. Pink, the colour we connect with feminity, the innocence of childhood and unconditional love is almost not present in the daily life of most people. Isn’t that a quite sad thought?

At least when you live in Geneva, this might not be true anymore: Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist designed a train that is pink from the outside and inside. 250 kg of colour were required to realize the Monochrome Rose project. The tram is part of the project art&tram, which aims to make art part of urban life. Pipilotti Rist says that the tram has “emerged from taking an exquisite bath in a sea of colour, with the drops of pigment still dripping over the whole of its body.”

The inauguration of the tram was about two weeks ago, and I was very honoured to be part of it. I have always loved the art of Pipilotti Rist with its winking humour, strong sensuality, uncompromising boldness and exuberant feminity.

I remembered how I encountered her work for the first time in my first year at art school. I admired the classical paintings in a museum for their virtuosity and craftmanship, but somehow something was missing that depressed me: Colours and quirkiness. But then I discovered a quite tiny screen in a corner playing video art: “I’m not the girl who misses much” sang a hypnotical, female Mickey Mouse voice through the speakers. I was fascinated and drawn to it like the moth to the light; I thought: No, I indeed don’t miss much, not anymore, while I was overwhelmed by a wave of colour coming into my life through Pipilotti’s work. This installation was one brick stone in a wall of events convincing me of the necessity of a life in bright, vivid colours. Yes to embracing rainbows, yes to pink!

Finally, so many years later I finally encountered the woman behind the art that inspired me since then and I loved the energy radiating from her and that she obviously doesn’t take herself too serious. Pipilotti kissed my hand and went to her knees in fron of me, I don’t know how I survived this moment without fainting…

Being in the all pink tram was like a dream for me, and I am convinced Barbarella would trade her spaceship for Pipilotti’s tram. It’s like a break from your usual life when you enter the pink, playful world, a place which is cheerful, filled with positive emotions and where pink is the new black. You could see it as the fearless grown up version of being inside the whale in the story of Pinocchio.

When the doors after a ride open and you have to disembark, you will regret leaving this pink paradise and secretly wish on your next journey the pink beauty might pick you up once again. At least I have a lot of souvenirs from this day, because all Swiss newspapers printed the picture of Pipiotti and me in the tram to remember the best pink day of 2016.

It was love at first sight when I saw this coat from Kenzo x H&M showroom a while ago, and it was very hard to leave without it. I did something I rarely do anymore: I queued and queued and queued for it, without even the slightest blogger bonus. I ended up having a lot of fun with two quirky Indonesian ladies in the middle of the night, shared my excitement with a lot of other fashion addicts, and I feel like I truly earned wearing my shaggy tiger.
I got up at five o’clock in the morning and was in front of the shop shortly after six, everybody who knows me better can tell what a sacrifice this is for me: I am no morning person at all, and before ten you better don’t talk to me about serious things. I know the whole Kenzo x H&M hype is already over, but there is a difference: Me and this coat, it’s no hype, it’s true love. I wouldn’t have been tempted just by the big name, but I was by the wild designs and the bright colours.
Not the coldest winter can harm me when I wear this coat. Usually, I am a little bit reluctant to shoot pictures in winter, but hey: All I needed to change my mind was a proper coat. I can even go out with bare legs (sorry Mama I know you will call me and tell me I should wear something longer).
The only thing you can do when you wear one of House of Holland’s provocative slogan T-shirts is to combine it with bare flesh for sure. My legs might never beat Agyness Deyn wearing one of those shirts when they first dropped, but who cares!
Just stop making me hard Molly Goddard!
(I am coming for your clothes soon, take care.)
How do you like this look lovelies and for which dream piece would you stand the queue?

It’s my birthday today, and this makes this post a special one. I am glad the look and the pictures turned out very well, and it’s a good feeling to share it with you while I take the weekend off from blogging, something I rarely do. The scarf I am wearing could be counted as kind of a pre-birthday gift; my darling bought it for me in London when I was in serious need of something fluffy in my life.

Even if I love blogging, I am excited about my selfishness for taking a whole weekend just for myself instead of editing pictures and catching frostbite while shooting in the cold. Being a blogger doesn’t only fill a huge part of my life, my friends and family are taking part of it as well. Some of them in an active way with helping me to organize shootings and connections, others in a more passive way with being patient with me and have some understanding if I am late for the family brunch because of a photo shooting. A big thank you to all of you at this point and sorry for talking about shoes and necklaces so much all the time.

Writing this a day before my birthday, I have no idea what I am doing today, I just know it involves a little journey, good food and spending time with my love. Have a beautiful Sunday too, and I hope you enjoy my pastel look!

Kenzo is my brand of the moment. I can‘t wait for the Kenzo x H&M collection launching at the 3d of November (Hello invitation to preview at the showroom, I‘m coming, yay!) and their viral hit advertising spot by Spike Jonze for the fragrance Kenzo World made me think of Kenzo eyes for days. Just when I believed that their tiger designs are too repetitive, the eyes got me, and I couldn‘t resist to treat myself to this jumper.

I like the casual easiness and coolness of the look. It‘s a look perfect for city trips: Comfortable to wear but if you go for a cocktail spontaneously, nobody will accuse you of bad taste.

The eye is a powerful symbol, and while wearing my jumper, I have to think of the eye shaped talismans common in Turkey quite a lot. They are supposed to protect from the evil eye causing injury or misfortune. Let‘s see if Kenzo can do that as well!

The only thing left to do is to dance as wildly as Margaret Qualley in the Kenzo add and find a flower eye sculpture to float into…

Sometimes every girl should feel like a princess! Even if she knows that she is not the prettiest girl in the world and will never win a beauty contest, it can happen, sometimes just for a second. This outfit is one of those moments for me, and I don’t even need a diamond crown to go with it.

I don’t want to make you jealous, but look: I found my dream Prada shoes from SS12 at the vintage store Markentussi, and they were even my size (otherwise I might have considered playing Cinderella’s evil step sister, so lucky me I didn’t have to). As you might know, I am not the kind of girl you can impress with a car, but stilettos with a bullet-shaped tail light are my favourite means of transportation.

Because the hot heels are very 50s, I couldn’t resist to combine them with a vintage style dress. This Tara Starlet is a true head turner. It feels very cheeky with the open back, but what got me first was the print: I am wearing my beloved idol Frida Kahlo right by my heart.

Frida has always been one of the strongest sources of inspiration for me. A woman full of strength, power, creativity, and uniqueness. She fought against all the odds life put in her path and in the end, even conquered death with turning herself into an immortal icon. Imagine this strong woman having a ride in a pink Cadillac, just as pink as my Prada shoes. Frida, you would rock the streets just as you rocked everything you did!

„Where are the looks of Sara?“ you might have asked looking at post after post without my face appearing. I tried and tried to edit pictures from shoots again, but had severe difficulties to focus and escaped into a world of product pictures.

I am blogging for five years now and never before I felt so tired of looking at myself on pictures. While I don‘t consider myself as a very vain person but happened to become a blogger only for the love of fashion, it was always clear that my looks and I are inseparable connected. After all this is a personal style blog.

But when I had a look at the last looks we shot, I just wished it wasn‘t me wearing those beautiful styles. A rather strange and uncomfortable situation for a personal style blogger.

What got me out of my moody dilemma was this look. I loved to wear the devil top so much and wanted to capture a new wild side of me in the pictures. No more effort to look good, no more worrying about not having the longest legs or an angel face, this time, I played the fashion demon obsessed doll. I danced, screamed and let my pink hair fly through the air. Can you feel the energy in the pictures?

I suddenly felt very free and relieved from the pressure of being more perfect than I am. Thank you silky devil, for awaking a new me. Now I can be brave again and face the pile of pictures on my desk.

Oh, Alice, I wish so much I could join you in crazy wonderland, play flamingo croquet, have a tea party with the mad hatter and try to solve the riddles of the Chesire Cat. Agreed, the last Alice in Wonderland movie was a disaster, but this can‘t harm my love for the world and the characters by Lewis Carroll.

Especially now, right after holidays I feel the strong need for a magical escape and going back to the everyday routine feels like the fall into a rabbit hole. It was just too beautiful to have time for my own, just to do whatever I want (working for the blog is always high on the list of course). No need to get up early and no reason not to stay up the whole night. I‘ve been wearing my Chesire Cat dress a lot during holidays and got quite some compliments for it. No wonder: Grinning cats rule!

You can still look forward to see a few more expressions from Amsterdam, stay tuned! Sharing my memories with you allows me to dream of sweet holidays a little bit longer.  Advise from the caterpillar: Just book the next holidays right after coming back, nothing helps better to beat the blues.

I am very sorry for not posting a new look for a little bit longer than usual. My other job was just very demanding during the last few weeks. I barely had the time to sleep and therefore my blog work didn’t make a lot of progress. I had all pictures shot, but no time for editing and making a selection for you lovelies.

Facing a hard time makes me wanna dress even more fun and colourful. Lagerfeld said that sweatpants are a sign of defeat and for people who lost control of their life, I feel the same about not dressing up in a quirky way. Wearing something I love gives me a lot of power to overcome hard times and to never lose my smile. A superhero needs his costume and mask; I need my colours.

So what could be more fitting than wearing pineapple, pizza, flamingos, rainbows, melons AND mushrooms during a tough time? The print of this shirt from Buried Diamond for Print All Over Me is like a crazy trip and therefore I just had to get my hands on it. Other people might say it’s bad taste; I think it’s a level of cool not everybody can recognize.

Long live the trippy taste!

“I have nothing to wear” I sometimes hear myself say when I stand in front of my wardrobe. Every girl might know this problem, but as a fashion blogger, the pressure to have something new all the time is especially significant. After all: What outfits shall I shoot if I don’t stock up my wardrobe consistently?

But where is the sustainability in this behaviour, where is the sweetness of wearing something you love for years till it looks so worn you have to give it away? Among fashion people, only the new is chic. Fashion is less about personal style than about a dictate of novelty. Labels and designers constantly tell their customers what’s hot right now and what you bought a few weeks ago will be “so last season” in the blink of an eye.

So what shall we do: Join the run and cheer for the new month after month or step away and just trust our taste? At the moment, the answer is a mixture of both, just like this look: One new piece (the skirt), everything else oldies but goodies from my wardrobe. This is all it needs for an entirely new look. My advice: Experiment with what you have in your wardrobe and style it new again and again!

Once upon a time, there was a little mermaid, her name was Ariel. While she was charming and had a happy life under the sea, it couldn’t stop her from feeling she was missing something and dreaming of being a human. All she ever wanted was having legs to dance and walk. While her sisters thought this dream was a rather weird desire, I wonder if other mermaids shared Ariel’s dream.

I experience strange stories while I sleep as well: A few days ago, I encountered myself in a dream. I had long hair in an unremarkable dark blond colour (my natural one), was wearing ugly glasses, no makeup at all and my outfit was a combination of denim trousers with a plain white t-shirt. I worked in a pharmacy, was very shy and could blend into every crowd without being noticed.

I woke up feeling confused. The dream-me was so unlike I see myself, but yet the same. What an awkward feeling! She seemed to be a canvas that didn’t catch the attention of an artist: Plain, unremarkable and –forgive me for saying – ugly. Unfinished. I feel grateful for not being that girl when I could have.

You might say the difference between real-me and this dream-me is just a question of style, but I have to disagree: I bet this girl wouldn’t meet the same kind of people I do, would not have this blog and probably not even spend the life with the same man. Influenced by her surroundings, she would develop other interests and in the end, become a person unlike all what defines me.

So mermaids, better not dream about having legs and be grateful the way you are! There is a reason your life turned out just the way it is and every single decision you take, every outfit you wear and every smile that lights up your face brought you were you are, step by step.
