I can tell you what monsters and cats form outer space have in common:
They are both rainbow-coloured.

This look is a mad liaison between the 50s and the 90s. A little bit of retro, a lot of craziness. Galaxy cats are floating through a rainbow coloured sky, while the cute furry monster twinkles with its long eyelashes. Nineties neon disco meets pink vintage chic. Yes, today I let styles clash together and mix wildly, what doesn’t seem to fit at first.

You’ve seen this high-waisted pinafore skirt before here, I styled it to a genuine retro look. I wondered if it would look good in a more quirky outfit as well and was surprised how well it goes together with the cosmic cat print. The tee is quite long and it doesn’t look good on my curvy body if I wear it loose, but tucked into the high-waisted skirt the silhouette is accented to flatter.

The true star of the outfit is the clutch: I wrote about British fashion designer Joanna Pybus before here and this is her first piece I own. I love the cute monster and always catch myself stroking it. I was tempted to not show my face at all in this post, because it’s just too much fun to hide my face behind my monster.

I’ll definitely have to go back for more Joanna Pybus items and recommend you to keep an eye on her too. I am curious what she comes up with in the future. I guess it must be cute and colourful, maybe it will be furry too…

Do you like this crazy look?

What is this spell, the colours purple, pink and red cast on me? Why do this colours make me so happy? This outfit unites them and has become one of my favourites as soon as I put it on for the first time. It seems to be a true energy outfit and wearing it makes me feel powerful.

The ice cream dress I spotted first on the blog of my one and only favourite blogger and lovely friend Fashion Hayley and wrote an excited comment. Unfortunately it wasn’t available on the page of the shop anymore, but fabulous Hayley found it for me in their outlet store and sent it all the way from Melbourne. Thank you so very much Hayley, you are not just the most inspiring person I’ve ever seen, but a very sweet girl too!

What was the first thing from this outfit you liked? Probably the bag? Yes, Lovely Sara has a Furla Candy Bag now. I tried to convince myself for a long time, I don’t need it, but the video with Japanese Blogger Misha Janette told me otherwise and when I had it in my little greedy fashion fingers, I couldn’t put it to the shelf anymore. The power of pink is always bigger than me.

The Vivienne Westwood for Melissa shoes are a gift from my boyfriend, he somehow managed to buy them just in front of my nose without me seeing it. What a lovely surprise! To continue with gifts I won this bangle from Swarovski, can’t believe what a lucky girl I am.  I am very grateful to have amazing people around me and that I have the chance to live in my Barbie-Jelly-Fashion-Glitter-World.

What do you think about this all in berry shades outfit my lovely readers? Do you have special outfit sthat makes you instantly feel good as well?

My Outfit:

Today it’s time for a lot of pink – fifty shades of pink.
Not just flamingos have pink wings, but my backpack too.
Isn’t this the sweetest colour ever for a name necklace?
Mister flamingo thinks so too and nods.
Gosh, I feel like in a world full of candy floss.
Everything is bright, sparkling and cute.
This is probably the only backpack I will ever consider as absolutely stunning.
A barbie dream come true with the cutest wings.
This shoes are described as “Hipster mermaid shoes”, I agree and love them.

Whenever I travel by bus or train, I spot many copies of the book “Fifty Shades of Gray”. I haven’t read it and I certainly never will, but every time I read the title it makes me a little bit sad. I imagine all this shades of gray next to each other and think, how much more beautiful fifty shades of any other colour would be. Fifty shades of gray sounds like a lot of boredom to me and like the complete absence of every excitement. When I put on today’s outfit with all it’s shades of pink, the title “Fifty Shades of Pink” popped into my mind immediately. Don’t you agree this is far more fun than gray? Pink and orange is a combination I didn’t try very often before, but I like how they enhance and contrast each other.

I am in love with every piece I wear and hope you see it in the pictures. What on earth can beat holographic shoes, a winged backpack and a flamingo bodysuit together in one outfit? My look is inspired by the creative outfits of the girls in Harajuku. I think especially the shoes and backpack express the cuteness of this kind of style very well. The first time I saw this backpack was on a Tokyo style blog and since then I couldn’t stop thinking about it, till I could call it my own.

From now on I wear my name around my neck. This name necklace was a very sweet unexpected gift from Sugar & Vice and since it arrived I don’t know how I could have been without it. I love the colour of the perspex and maybe with this people will finally understand that my name is spelled without an “h” at the end. If it doesn’t work, I don’t mind if people just remember me as the pink candy floss girl instead. Now you have to excuse me, I need to spread my wings and discover a few fluffy clouds.

We can enjoy the afternoon in this pink garden.

Wow look at all the pink trees outside, isn’t it breathtaking? Pink has always been one of my favourite colours. There was a time, back at School of Arts, long, long time ago, when I dressed in no other colour. I am not that singleminded anymore, but pink occupies still a big space in my heart. My heart started to beat faster when I saw the flower trees outside and I just had to be the pink girl under the pink tree. My outfit is a lot of vintage inspired, I feel like a modest 50s housewife from an advertisement. This image of a woman fascinates me, always pretty, with a bright smile and perfect nails and makeup.

My skirt is indeed made from an original vintage pattern. After discovering this skirt, I couldn’t get it out of my head again. The shape is just perfect and I love the silhouette it makes. I bought it at The Black Pinafore, it’s the Etsy Store from Debora, a lovely dress maker from Italy. She is a diploma costume designer and loves the 40s and 50s. I could just send her my measurements and she made this wonderful skirt for me. I was able to choose the fabric, buttons and length of the skirt. When it arrived I was very pleased, because it fits perfectly and looks even more beautiful than I expected. I just had to wear it, go outside with it as fast as possible and show it to you surrounded by this dreamy location. I am always surprised again and again, how close from the city beautiful places like this exist. It looks like I am in an enchanted garden at the countryside, but it’s just a few steps away from the big apartment blocks of the city. Even a cat wanted to be part of my pictures and she was very stubborn in staying exactly under the same tree I wanted to take my pictures. But I think she just made the pictures perfect.

I hope you enjoy spring as much as I do my lovelies. What do you think about this outfit?

My beloved jells shoes are perfect for this look.

This is probably the most girly outfit I ever showed and absolutely Lolita inspired. Yes I am not 16 anymore, but I don’t see a reason to stop living in a world full of frills, pastel colours and cuteness. There is enough of sourness in the world, so at least fashion can be sweet as sugar. I love this doll inspired style, looking like it is made in a land full of candyfloss. When I tried on this vintage dress, my darling told me I look like a princess. And this is why I couldn’t resist to buy it. It’s not a look a modern princess like Victoria from Sweden or Kate Middleton would wear, but fit for a kitschy fairy tale princess. This kind of a princess always has blond hair and wears nothing except the most pretty dresses in light pink.

I also show you my second Ahcahcum cat bag. It came together with the big one you’ve already seen. At first I was a little bit irritated by the expression of the face of this cat, but now I think she is cute in her own grumpy way. I think Japanese people like cute fashion and in that way the outfit I show you here might be the perfect one to wear a bag from this Japanese label. I wish to have the chance to travel to Japan once in my life. I think I would feel like in fashion paradise there and have the urge to start a street style blog right now. I follow a few of Japanese blogs, usually I don’t understand a word, but love the style. All the love, the fantasy and individuality these girls put into their look is so unlike what I see on the streets here. Last week, a man in the train told me, that he clearly sees a lot of Japanese inspiration in my style. I was surprised because I thought this source of inspiration is not so obvious. With this little compliment he made my day and put a big smile on my face.

Let’s dance with the flamingos!

I have never been to Florida, but I often dream of the beach and pink flamingos. Maybe the real Florida is way different from what I have in mind, but for me it means a lot of pink, pastels, good weather and sweetness. A little bit something like a Barbie world come true. The perfect place to eat soft ice and fall in love for the very first time. This is the mood I had in mind when I choose my outfit and I hope you hear the sound of the waves while looking at it.

I don’t know if there is rain in Florida, but I would be prepared with my plastic jacket. I am absolutely in love with it. Because there is such a hype for plastic this season, it was sold out very soon after hitting the shop. What you can’t see on the pictures is, that my jacket is too big for me. I had to go a size up, because mine was gone already. Especially at the back it’s visible how much space between my back and the jacket is left. I love the material, the colour and the style of the jacket so much, I can’t give it back. Maybe I have to start a new trend for oversized jackets?

I feel so pink, I imagine I could sneak into a crowd of flamingos without sticking out. I just love this animals. It’s a little bit similar to my cat addiction: I can’t avoid fashion including them. So no surprise I love this flamingo scarf. It’s made by Scottish designer Donna Wilson. She is one of my most favourite designers when it comes to pillows and blankets and I am in love with all the strange creatures she creates as well.  Her work is always very cute and made with love. This scarf causes a lot of envy and glances, when I wear it. I love to be embraced by Mister Flamingo. He makes my Florida dream come true, wherever I am.

Has plastic a strong attraction to you and have you been waiting for more hot pink plastic to appear in women’s fashion? The paradise for all Barbie girls, living in a plastic world is finally here and a lot of plastic clothes and accessories are ready for you in the shops. These bright coloured pieces will bring a little bit of Barbie into your life. You can combine them with plain pieces in dark colours if you don’t want to be too colourful, but I think they will look best with patterned fabrics and even a little bit of neon. There are a lot of black and white graphical patterns in the spring/summer collections of many designers. At first sight it seemed to be disappointing for colour lovers, but combined with pink plastic they will make a fabulous look no doubt.

In my opinion, the best piece from this collection is the jacket. I was waiting for exactly this kind of jacket forever, until Topshop made my dream come true. To make my excitement even bigger, they designed an equally wonderful skirt as well. The handbag is something for girls who don’t have to hide something. My Barbie had a bag like this in yellow neon. If you have just beautiful things in it like the pink sunglasses or the bow hair clips, it will be wonderful.

So what are you waiting for: Get some hot pink plastic, go out with Ken and live your Barbie life!
Which piece is your favourite?

Don’t forget to enter my Rachel’s Wonders Give Away. The prize is pink and shiny too. 🙂

I have already packed my bag. See you in rainbow land!

When it comes to art, Jeff Koons is one of the first artists I mention when asked about my favorites. His work is a dance on the border between cult and kitsch to me, there is humour in it and every artwork of his seems to twinkle with one eye. Koons’ art makes me happy, like a bright outfit does. Most of my other favourite artists, create dark, disturbing or surreal work and I think this has nothing to do with my taste in fashion (expect if I am in the gothic mood, which happens every now and then). Koons’ work on the other hand, walks hand in hand with all the other things I love in life, especially my taste of fashion: It’s like a dream from a world full of rainbows.

Do you remember my Art Inspires Fashion post about Jeff Koons? I wanted to wear the outfit since I posted it and couldn’t get it out of my mind. Now the moment is here and I can finally present you me wearing the Jeff Koon’s inspired outfit. It is not exactly the proposal from that post, but a little bit a changed version.  The multi sequin skirt from Asos, the Kate Rohde bangle and the Maison Martin Margiela for HM handbag, follow exactly the inspiration post. I combine them with similar pieces as proposed from my existing wardrobe. There is even a big improvement to the inspiration post: After posting it,  Pearls & Swine created this wonderful fascinator, which reminded me of Koons’ shiny tulip sculptures at first sight.

The fascinator is the key piece of the outfit, together with the handbag. The Maison Martin Margiela for HM bag fits very well, because Koons often reproduces everyday’s objects in oversized versions. This giant candy wrap follows a similar idea. The difference between it and a Koons artwork is, that I can use it to carry around my stuff, while Koons’ colossal sculptures are released from a practical use and wait for admiration only.

I just have to say something too about the Kate Rohde bangle: It’s a magical thing and I wear it like a talisman. I can watch again and again how it looks when the sun shines on it. It’s the most amazing bangle I ever had, it looks like it was made in a crystal wonderland, where Koons’ balloon dogs chase each other playing hide and seek. All in all, this outfit is the most colourful one, I showed you for a while and I think all the strong colours have a lot of positive energy. I hope you feel it too and it makes you smile.

So now I want to hear from you: How do you like this look?

Look what arrived in my mailbox: It’s the “Caramelos” dress from Yiddish Chutzpah! With all the snow outside I don’t dare to wear my new dress outside, but I love to turn the house floor into my catwalk. I just couldn’t wait to share it with you. I feel like a little candy fairy. The dress fits perfectly and the pattern made by Gema of Yiddish Chutzpah is adorable. My darling was bedazzled when he saw me and we started to dream of a picnic next spring. The magic of cute and pink things has a lot of power over me and this dress makes me happy a lot. Actually it was just the right thing to get rid of my winter mood.

Girls are not just craving for candy, but for glitter too! I have this as well: The pink fascinator from Peals & Swine is a bright glitter star. Tinker Bell would be jealous and I almost expected it to turn my lollipop into a ward and spread sparkles all around. It’s as well a cool fascinator for a christmas outfit, if you don’t play the summer girl at the moment.

My Lolita look gave me the opportunity to wear girly jelly shoes. Of course not elegant high heels, but cute ones made for running over meadows and catching butterflies. I could wear this comfortable shoes from Juju all the time. Especially with cute socks, they look very girly. To complete the look I went into a place I loved since I was a little girl: The candy store. I always had a sweet tooth and it was fun to wear candy jewellery again. I couldn’t resist to eat a lot of it right after the shooting. If the candy on the dress would be edible, I’m afraid it would be gone too.

I hope this outfit put you into a sweet mood and made you forget about the nasty weather outside. Are you enchanted by dress and fascinator, my lovelies?

Because you loved the first Art Inspires Fashion post about H.R. Giger so much, I am delighted to present you the next and very different one: Let’s enter the world of Jeff Koons!

Jeff Koons is an American artist, probably most famous for his sculptures in stainless steel with mirror finish surface. Especially the huge balloon dogs he made can’t be overseen. They have become monumental icons of modern art. Koons’ work is colourful, fun and always on the border between kitsch and cult. Beauty and innocence are issues of many of his pieces as well as sexuality. I think he is one of the artists, reaching people not at all involved into art as well as art geeks. Most of his art pieces look joyful and happy-go-lucky, all of them are a visual blast. You will always have a heart full of colours and a smile on your face after visiting a Jeff Koons exhibition.

Of course the outfit fitting to art like this needs to be colourful and metallic: The multi-coloured sequin skirt (Asos) reminds me colourwise of the Tulips Koons made (see picture below). Combined with a shiny turquoise top (Stylebop), a golden jacket (Net-A-Porter) and a star belt (Asos), the outfit is as joyful as Koons’ art.

Have you ever seen Koons’ shiny egg shell sculptures? There is a resemblance between them and this shoes (Nasty Gal). The pink shiny handbag (Maison Margiela for HM) could have been made by Koons himself and it’s a good idea to combine it with a bow in the same colour (Etsy). Last but not least the jewellery: The bangles and earrings are made of jelly and designed by amazing Australian artist Kate Rohde (can be bought at Edition X). With its bubbly shapes this jewellery reflects very well the artificiality and playfulness seen in Koons work.

Now your Koons outfit is complete! Ready for going to the museum?
Is there a special artist you would love to see an inspired by outfit here in the future?
