Art loves fashion and fashion loves art back! Among all the art movements, especially pop art is a never-ending inspiration for fashion. Repeating symbols in flashy colours, comic inspired prints and Warhol’s Marilyn are fashion evergreens. Wearing them makes you instantly feel like a pop art heroine.

A little bit of art in your outfit never hurts and is perfect for a stroll through your favourite galleries or just for everyday. There is nothing such as a wrong time to turn yourself into a walking piece of art!

Pop art is not really your thing? Go for Mexican surrealism then with Frida Kahlo! Her face has already been printed on thousands of T-shirts and decorates the necks of the coolest ladies. But the best Frida-themed thing I’ve ever seen are clearly the socks above: Definitely a must have for admirers of this fabulous woman and a must have for an arty look!

How do you like those arty fashion pieces and which one is your favourite?

Cartoon style is my style! Love the irritating looks whenever I wear my comic bags.

Every now and then, it’s time for a cat themed outfit, don’t you agree? When I saw this sweater from Dazzle & Jolt, I knew that the time has come again. It reminds me a little bit of my beloved series Sailor Moon, with the moon symbol and I love the colours.

Do you remember the cute guardian cats Luna and Artemis from the series? Since I have this sweater, I started to think about Sailor Moon more often again, what sweet memories! I am already tempted to get myself a pendant inspired by this anime. Is it childish to still love one’s childhood heroes? I don’t think so! Why should I ever loose the last piece of my inner child, if cute things make me happy?

The cat on the sweater is called Jarvis and he is kind of a third member of the Dazzle & Jolt team. I love that they made a jumper with him on it. Since I’ve seen pictures of the real Jarvis, I can confirm that he is absolutely recognizable and I am very happy to have him in my little Dazzle & Jolt collection. Next goal: Their unicorn T-shirt.

Not even the perfect cat jumper is enough cat stuff for me, so I added two feline rings as well and transformed myself with cute cat ears. Meow! I am off for today, might purr a little, have some milk and look out for mouses. See you soon and please tell me what you think about this look my lovelies.

I can tell you what monsters and cats form outer space have in common:
They are both rainbow-coloured.
hype, pink, joanna pybus, cats
Accessoires and makeup in bright pink are a must for this look.
joanna pybus, fur clutch, monster, kawaii
This friendly monster wants to be hugged and stroked all the time.

The clutch is great to hide your face in case you encounter any paparazzi,

The cats are playing hide and seek behind the braces of the high-waisted skirt.
jelly, shoes, juju, lilac
This comfortable jelly sandals in lilac are the perfect shoes for hot summer days.

This look is a mad liaison between the 50s and the 90s. A little bit of retro, a lot of craziness. Galaxy cats are floating through a rainbow coloured sky, while the cute furry monster twinkles with its long eyelashes. Nineties neon disco meets pink vintage chic. Yes, today I let styles clash together and mix wildly, what doesn’t seem to fit at first.

You’ve seen this high-waisted pinafore skirt before here, I styled it to a genuine retro look. I wondered if it would look good in a more quirky outfit as well and was surprised how well it goes together with the cosmic cat print. The tee is quite long and it doesn’t look good on my curvy body if I wear it loose, but tucked into the high-waisted skirt the silhouette is accented to flatter.

The true star of the outfit is the clutch: I wrote about British fashion designer Joanna Pybus before here and this is her first piece I own. I love the cute monster and always catch myself stroking it. I was tempted to not show my face at all in this post, because it’s just too much fun to hide my face behind my monster.

I’ll definitely have to go back for more Joanna Pybus items and recommend you to keep an eye on her too. I am curious what she comes up with in the future. I guess it must be cute and colourful, maybe it will be furry too…

Do you like this crazy look?

My Outfit:

Are you confused? Your eyes are not fooled, this bags are real and they look exactly like on the pictures. I have seen them with my very own eyes. 2D is the new and better 3D and the Taiwanese label JumpFromPaper makes what is so hard to believe come true: They create hand bags you’ll need to take a second glance to realize they are not just a cartoon day dream.
Chay Su and Rika Lin are the creative masterminds behind JumpFromPaper. The two crazy girls both studied communication design and had the fabulous idea to turn 2D illustrations into bags. Their designs looks literally like they jumped to life from a quirky comic book and unlike anything else I’ve ever seen.
The philosophy of JumpFromPaper is, that life does not need to be that serious. People are born to enjoy. Indeed, this colourful bags spread a lot of fun and turn you instantly into a comic character. Probably the greatest thing is to take a picture of you with a JumpFromPaper bag: Every shot looks like photoshoped and causes a sweet irritation, which leads to unstoppable fascination.
Katy Perry was already spotted with a playful JumpFromPaper handbag, Lovely Sara will follow soon. Do you wanna join the pop art 2D gang?

But dance into the night with my first flock shoes from Melissa.

Boom! Here I am with a new outfit post. I am so, so, so addicted to Lazy Oaf. For a long time I wanted this dress, but restrained myself. I am a shopping addict without doubt, but even I have limits and there are already many pieces from this shop in my wardrobe. But when I saw the dress on sale, all the good intentions were gone instantly. What shall I say? I love it and it’s really causing big badaboom explosions of fashion happiness.

Jewellery from delicious Australian label Eat.Me.Do completes the look. Gummi bear and squid, nice menu, isn’t it? Do you say “Yuk”? Exactly, this is what is written on my back. I discovered this patch on Instagram and couldn’t get the word Yuk out of my head anymore. I sewed it onto a vintage denim jacket, which was a little bit boring on it’s own. The patch turned it into a cool piece again. I might add other patches in the future.

Have you ever seen the movie Cloud Atlas? You really should, it’s a brilliant movie and unlike anything else I’ve ever seen on the screen. Why is she talking about movies now you might ask. Simple, because of a very special scene in this movie: There is a restaurant in a futuristic city called Neo Seoul. All the waitresses are Asian girls with a bob haircut and the same outfit. They wear the Melissa Patchuli shoes, just like I do in this post. I think I made funny noises of excitement in the cinema, when I saw all this girls with this wonderful shoes. It was the first time ever I spotted Melissa shoes in the cinema and this shoe is connected to the movie forever now. I wish they had Lazy Oaf dresses too…

What do you think, does this outfit make boom?

This is the return of the eyeballs! After her breathtaking A/W 12 collection, London based designer Joanna Pybus had to fulfill high expectations with her next collection. She did more than to succeed and designed a spring/summer 2013 collection, just as quirky and fabulous as one might have wished for. Flattering skirts and cheeky shorts are at their best in Joanna’s stripes and eye prints. The beautiful pastel colours make the collection as sweet as candy and as explosive as a firework on a warm summer evening.

Joanna Pybus’ fashion has a strong graphic approach and the patterns of her fabric are very distinctive. All her clothes are striking, yet easy to wear. The sixties are obviously a strong influence in Joanna Pybus’ work and walk hand in hand with a generous touch of pop art. The simple, 60s inspired shapes are the perfect canvas to show off the bold prints. No piece of Joanna Pybus comes without a lot of humour: The eyes seem to twinkle and tell you that life is far more fun if you don’t take everything too serious.

I think Twiggy and Andy Warhol would have loved this fashion, so do I.

10 Things About Lovely Sara

1. Somebody once offered me money to see me without makeup. I didn’t accept and am still waiting for a better offer. 😉

2. I often have nightmares about giant spiders hiding under my bed.

3. When I lived in London, I had the same hair dresser as Agyness Deyn.

4. I only have one pair of jeans in my wardrobe. It’s a pair of Levi’s Curve ID trousers, the only one I found to perfectly suit my curvy body shape.

5. My favourite milliner and my current hairdresser are as well two of my very best friends.

6. I love Fruit Loops, no matter if for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

7. I rarely call people. Somehow I suddenly feel very shy if I have to dial a number and write instead, whenever there is the possibility.

8. The perfumes I love most are Alien by Thierry Mugler and The Rouge by Bvlgari.

9. I’ve seen the movie “Lord of the Rings – The Return of the King”seven times at the cinema because I was so enchanted by it.

10.  Something you might have guessed: I collect Melissa shoes. At the moment I have 15 pairs. I hope my collection will grow a lot of and I want my whole flat to smell of their bubblegum scent.

Do you often have the experience of strange people staring at you on the street? Then it’s time to stare back! There is something you could call an invasion of comical eyes in fashion and I love it. There are eyes on jumpers, handbags and accessories, all a little bit whimsical. They seem to twinkle with humour and ask to take them out.

Especially the jumper and the top on the picture above make my heart beat faster. Both of them are designed by London based Joanna Pybus. Her fashion is a true pop culture statement and inspired by postmodernism. Joanna Pybus graduated from the University of East London this year and the pieces shown here are part of her first collection called “Splice me”. It looks like a very promising debut in my opinion and I would love to get my hands on a piece of this collection. I will definitely keep an eye on her (hopefully while wearing one of her jumpers together with some eye jewellery ;-)).

What do you think about eyes and eyeballs in fashion, is it your cup of tea?
