I discovered a label I just have to share with you: Let me tell you about the exciting Australian brand Laurel & Hector, which is named after the grandparents of their designer mastermind Kee Kee. Laurel & Hector says about themselves that they make fashion for hot babes in bright lipstick looking for unconventional and high quality outfits. This sounds just like the perfect thing for you and me, right?

The latest Laurel & Hector collection called “Lip Service” comes with a big bash of Sixties chic, juicy fruits for Carmen Miranda fans and Clueless inspired looks in bright plaid. Everything is colourful and bold, especially yellow pieces rock their collection. If you need another reason for this fab fashion: See  on the last picture how well their clothes fit to the best shoes in the universe, our beloved Melissa shoes.

I am absolutely in love with their banana items. No big surprise as you already know about my addiction for fruits in fashion. The pop art style banana headband is just the cutest accessory to complete the crazy fruity look. Totally cool, totally bananas!

Visit Laurel & Hector here and like them on Facebook.

Cartoon style is my style! Love the irritating looks whenever I wear my comic bags.

Every now and then, it’s time for a cat themed outfit, don’t you agree? When I saw this sweater from Dazzle & Jolt, I knew that the time has come again. It reminds me a little bit of my beloved series Sailor Moon, with the moon symbol and I love the colours.

Do you remember the cute guardian cats Luna and Artemis from the series? Since I have this sweater, I started to think about Sailor Moon more often again, what sweet memories! I am already tempted to get myself a pendant inspired by this anime. Is it childish to still love one’s childhood heroes? I don’t think so! Why should I ever loose the last piece of my inner child, if cute things make me happy?

The cat on the sweater is called Jarvis and he is kind of a third member of the Dazzle & Jolt team. I love that they made a jumper with him on it. Since I’ve seen pictures of the real Jarvis, I can confirm that he is absolutely recognizable and I am very happy to have him in my little Dazzle & Jolt collection. Next goal: Their unicorn T-shirt.

Not even the perfect cat jumper is enough cat stuff for me, so I added two feline rings as well and transformed myself with cute cat ears. Meow! I am off for today, might purr a little, have some milk and look out for mouses. See you soon and please tell me what you think about this look my lovelies.

My love for Melissa is eternal for sure.

Finally the time has come to reveal my look for Valentine’s Day! This year I was excited about this day and my look like never before. I already planed my outfit weeks ago and couldn’t barely wait to go out with it. The obvious choice for a Valentine’s Day look would be to wear all red or pink, but this year I had something a little bit different in mind: An outfit like a baroque still life with flowers and berries.

Not as a symbol of the evanescence of my love, like what the painters expressed with their work during the period of Baroque, but as a lush sign of joy. Therefore no broken glasses, no skulls and no insects hidden behind the flowers, just petals in vibrant colours. Yes to lavishness, yes to love!

I was a little bit worried if the dress would fit my curvy body, but when it arrived I was surprised that it even flattered my shape in a way not many dresses do. The cute berry fascinator is from Jazzafine’s “My Funny Valentine Collection”. The berries are very tempting to take a bite, because they look almost better than real. I think this little hat will find it’s way into my everyday accessories.

We went for dinner at our favourite Indian restaurant to celebrate. What a good start for the weekend! My darling loved my outfit very much, especially the flower dress. Now I’m curious to hear your opinion my lovelies!

How did you spend your Valentine’s Day and what did you wear?

My Outfit:

Dress: Paper Dolls at Zalando, Shoes: Mel, Fascinator: Jazzafine,
Tights: H&M, Sunnies: H&M (not recent)

Thanks to Jazzafine for the fascinator.

Let’s dance to the sound of the jungle and keep warm!

How to not get moody while it get’s colder from day to day? I admit it’s hard, but wearing colours and tropical prints is the best antidote. Adding fun to your outfits helps to keep the summer spirit in your heart!

My new T-Shirt from Dazzle & Jolt is perfect for my mission to keep summery. When it arrived, it was instant love. The adorable parrot print in the very bright colours won over my heart and I love the casual fit. I was a little bit afraid it might not look well, like long T-Shirts sometimes do on a curvy girl like me, but there was no reason to worry at all. Since I love parrots this will be among my favourites from now on.

To be prepared for quickly changing weather, the neon green rain coat is my first choice. Plastic jackets have always been among my favourites and I wish I had one in every bright colour. Because this outfit is rather casual, I wear a multi coloured sequin skirt for a touch of glitter. Something shiny never hurts!

Dressed like this I suddenly feel like dancing, no matter if there is rain or sun. What are your secrets to keep yourself in a summer mood and how do you like this outfit?

The moment I’ve been waiting for is finally here: The new Joanna Pybus collection is out. It’s a lot about contrasts: Thick faux fur clashes with translucent vinyl, monochrome colours are accented by vibrant neon. Joanna sticks to faux fur, which has become an integral part of her designs, but shows us another approach to this material. The distinctive Joanna Pybus eye print patterns return as well, mixed with other interesting patterns and prints.

But let the designer personally tell you a little bit more about the collection and her inspiration:

Interview with Joanna Pybus

Hi Joanna, please tell us a little bit more about your new collection and what inspired you.
The collection has been approached from a post apocalyptic view point, with strong references to dilapidated architecture, corrupted digital medias and hazard warning signs. My research included all manner of things- right from movies like The Hunger Games and Bladerunner to Super Mario Bros underworld levels.(www.joannapybus.tumblr.com has just some of the images I used during my researching/moodboarding). It was also important for me to embody a sense of power and strength in the collection, and this has been represented in the stone marble fabrics (used in my personal fav of the collection, the ‘Column Suit’) and the strong silhouettes – I would like to think that this strength is then translated into the wearers confidence.

Your new collection is darker than your earlier work, is this a new tendency for the future of your designs?
Yes it is quite dark! I really enjoyed working to this kind of tone in this collection- it was really great to be working with a different feeling in mind- although I think my previous work had some dark or creepy undertones to it but was represented in a giant candy coating! I’m not sure if its necessarily the future of my designs, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what comes of my research in the next collection- but I definitely loved working with a darker tone.

What kind of a woman do you imagine to wear your fashion?
I imagine she is confident, laid back and funny – I think she rolls out of bed and just wants to throw something on that will make her feel good.

Which famous person would you love to dress and why?
Maybe someone like Grimes- she’s super cute and I imagine she’s a lot of fun. I think she’d have fun wearing my stuff. Also maybe Brooke Candy (coincidentally, also in a Grimes vid!)- she has a great confidence and attitude, and such a powerful look –  I imagine she could be really fun to dress.

If your fashion would be a meal, what would it be?
Pizza- big, layered, many toppings and delicious 😉

Do you think golden pineapples are holy? I don’t know, but they are gorgeous for sure!

Did I promise you more pineapple looks? Here is another one and it’s even more fruity than the last one. Probably this will be the last crop top I show you this season, before it gets too cold.

I am madly in love with the pineapple fascinator. Sometimes I wear it at home to just sit on the sofa or do the washing up, because wearing it makes me so happy. It’s very Carmen Miranda and I think the colour combination of the golden pineapple and the green headband is perfect. Definitely another favourite from my favourite hatter Pearls & Swine!

During this summer, I gained a lot of self confidence. When spring arrived, I didn’t know if I would ever wear a crop top again, because I was not sure if this trend is still fine for girls no longer in their teens. This is the shortest crop top I bought and I am really happy to wear it. I think we all should be more daring, have fun and don’t care too much about the perfect body magazines show us. Models are old with 25 nowadays, isn’t that ridiculous?

Eat pineapples, eat chocolate cake and wear crop tops or whatever you like to my lovelies and never let somebody teach you something else! Whatever you wear, wear it with confidence and it will look stunning.

How do you like this pineapple dedicated outfit my lovelies?

My Outfit:

Fascinator: Pearls & Swine, Necklace: Tatty Devine (not recent),

Thanks a lot to Pearls & Swine for this fascinator. Having a pineapple fascinator was one of my childhood dreams.

Necklace: Tatty Devine, Clutch: Santi at Shopbop, Shoes: Unif at Dolls Kill, Sunglasses: Nasty Gal,
Jumper: Truffle Shuffle, Skirt: Cédric Charlier at Avenue 32, Bracelet: Kirsty Ward at Bengt, Tights: Romwe

I am obsessed with colours more than ever before and this style is proof. On other blogs, you will find a post like this as a mood board about colourful fashion, I say: Why not wear all these pieces together, just the way I show them? At least I would love to and declare this outfit to one of my dream outfits! I want ponies, I want rainbows, glitter and never forget about the pompoms!

I remember brushing the hair of my Little Ponies when I was a child, I loved their pastel coloured manes. I think the first ponies have been made when I was born or maybe a little bit earlier and so they were about the first toys I can remember too. Wearing them on a jumper would bring up a lot of nostalgia. I am sure the ponies would love the pompom clutch and the colourful accessories as much as I do.

What do you think about this outfit, would you wear it or just pick out one piece for yourself?

And jelly shoes with globes, just like giant blueberries.

What is this spell, the colours purple, pink and red cast on me? Why do this colours make me so happy? This outfit unites them and has become one of my favourites as soon as I put it on for the first time. It seems to be a true energy outfit and wearing it makes me feel powerful.

The ice cream dress I spotted first on the blog of my one and only favourite blogger and lovely friend Fashion Hayley and wrote an excited comment. Unfortunately it wasn’t available on the page of the shop anymore, but fabulous Hayley found it for me in their outlet store and sent it all the way from Melbourne. Thank you so very much Hayley, you are not just the most inspiring person I’ve ever seen, but a very sweet girl too!

What was the first thing from this outfit you liked? Probably the bag? Yes, Lovely Sara has a Furla Candy Bag now. I tried to convince myself for a long time, I don’t need it, but the video with Japanese Blogger Misha Janette told me otherwise and when I had it in my little greedy fashion fingers, I couldn’t put it to the shelf anymore. The power of pink is always bigger than me.

The Vivienne Westwood for Melissa shoes are a gift from my boyfriend, he somehow managed to buy them just in front of my nose without me seeing it. What a lovely surprise! To continue with gifts I won this bangle from Swarovski, can’t believe what a lucky girl I am.  I am very grateful to have amazing people around me and that I have the chance to live in my Barbie-Jelly-Fashion-Glitter-World.

What do you think about this all in berry shades outfit my lovely readers? Do you have special outfit sthat makes you instantly feel good as well?

Let’s go and get more ice cream!

Once upon a time, there was a melon girl. She loved to eat melon for breakfast, lunch, dinner and between the meals as well. But what she loved even more, was to dress like one. The rule of her life was, that if you feel to dress like a melon, you should just do it. The same rule applies for bananas, apples, and other funny things as well of course.

Dressed colourful she feels strong and like being reborn. It’s like a metamorphosis, when she gets dressed. The mousy caterpillar turns into a butterfly. She might be a little bit eccentric sometimes, but she embraces it instead of denying. When it comes to crazy fashion looks, she rather asks “Why not?”, instead of “Why?”. She loves to have a concept for her looks, best from head to toe. So why not even matching the ice cream to the look? She doesn’t care if you shake your head and enjoys her sweet dessert. Some people might call her look a disguise and fit for carnival, but she objects. There is no such a thing as a costume in her world, every dress is a new way to express some part of her personality and she has so many parts to discover yet. She was not born a bold girl, but she refuses to be something she is not. This is melon girl, this is colourful happiness and yes: This is me, Lovely Sara.

I hope you love this post and feel encouraged to dress up now too. Wish I could see all my pretty readers, I imagine we would make the most amazing rainbow together.

joanna pybus, eye, fashion, 60s

This is the return of the eyeballs! After her breathtaking A/W 12 collection, London based designer Joanna Pybus had to fulfill high expectations with her next collection. She did more than to succeed and designed a spring/summer 2013 collection, just as quirky and fabulous as one might have wished for. Flattering skirts and cheeky shorts are at their best in Joanna’s stripes and eye prints. The beautiful pastel colours make the collection as sweet as candy and as explosive as a firework on a warm summer evening.

Joanna Pybus’ fashion has a strong graphic approach and the patterns of her fabric are very distinctive. All her clothes are striking, yet easy to wear. The sixties are obviously a strong influence in Joanna Pybus’ work and walk hand in hand with a generous touch of pop art. The simple, 60s inspired shapes are the perfect canvas to show off the bold prints. No piece of Joanna Pybus comes without a lot of humour: The eyes seem to twinkle and tell you that life is far more fun if you don’t take everything too serious.

I think Twiggy and Andy Warhol would have loved this fashion, so do I.
Visit Joanna Pybus’ homepage and shop the collection on Etsy.
