I loved pink for a long time, but recently it’s becoming more: It started to turn into what black is for others. I feel like a veil was lifted from my eyes and I can see clearly now: There is no colour that doesn’t go with pink, there really isn’t!
While I always liked to combine my favourite colour with blue, yellow or red, I just discovered how flashy pink looks with lilac or with a bit of orange. I never liked orange, but look: Mixed with pink that suddenly changes. There seems to happen a kind of magic between the two of them (maybe you can call it love 😉 ).
The longer I live as a pink girl, the less I understand why most people’s basics are black or gray. There is nothing against those “colours” if you like them (unless it’s beige, this is just terrible in my opinion), but why not being a little bit more playful and fill your wardrobe with the bold diversity of a box of coloured pencils?
Besides the colours, there are many things I like about this looks: All the cute cats and the fact that the outfit reminds me of Japanese street style looks – especially because of the platform shoes. But I am not done yet: I want to see what else can be done with pink. Let’s combine it with everything I haven’t tried yet!
Be prepared for more colour mix looks! Gray can stay home for a long, long time!

When you return to the cloakroom of a posh restaurant after having dinner, and the lovely lady awaits you with your coat in her hands, telling you she remembers its gorgeousness, you might have done something right. Maybe you might have shopped at Selfridges. This post is not sponsored by my beloved high-end department store in London (I wish it were 😉 ), but I have to tell you a little story about what Selfridges means to me:
Years ago there used to be a design intern in London. Like most interns, the one called Sara didn’t have a lot of money. Nonetheless, at weekends I loved to walk through Selfridges. I adored the more than 4000 pairs of shoes in the building, the flamboyant designer robes and of course the extraordinary windows. In the end, I always left with some tea, a few cookies or a hand cream and I was happy to have a little part of the shopping world that I loved with me. A piece of the place with the ladies wearing Chanel from head to toe, perfect makeup and expensive handbags.
A few years later it’s time for an announcement: Ladies and gentleman, may I present my first major Selfridges shopping? I mean from upstairs, where the real treasures are, not from the high street section. May I present my Shrimps coat?
I was fed up with cheap and bad quality coats, I just needed a good one this year, and only the best silky faux fur could do. The happiness I feel whenever I wear it was worth every penny. Sometimes a girl just needs to treat herself!

An announcement: This post comes from the future. I am extremely proud to present my favourite designer glasses for SS16 and it’s not even Christmas yet. Those pretties from Miu Miu, Prada and Dolce & Gabbana, will hit the stores in spring and I’ll certainly queue for at least one pair of them (owning two or three pairs can’t hurt…).
You have to imagine me standing in front of a wall full of not yet released glasses, choosing my favourites. I was about to burst. But then came the worst part: Keeping this a secret till I had my pictures ready for you.
Everybody knows: Sunglasses are my favourite accessory. It’s because they never miss to surprise me with innovation. No other accessory is capable of changing your look so drastically in a blink. So forget about small decent designs, go big or go home is what makes them interesting. Experiment with shapes, colours and designs, it’s a neverending playground!
As you see, there is a lot of glitter coming in eyewear next year and the exaggerated glasses are here to stay, yay! Colourwise you’ll find a lot of dusty tones as well as bold colours. Miu Miu never fails to stir my excitement, but this time, I must say that the blue Dolce & Gabbana glasses might even top everything else.
What do you think about those glasses, do you have a favourite pair?

I could stop blogging now and say: “Yes, I found it, the one and only, the perfect dress”. Now I can rest in peace. What better look can I ever wear than this dress? That pattern mix, the sophisticated fabrics, the decadent ruffles and the cheeky free shoulders: It can’t get better, can it?
I have to think of the shopkeeper in Paolo Coelho’s book “The Alchemist”. He doesn’t want to achieve his dream because it’s what keeps him looking forward to the future. A thought equally sad and sweet I think. Lucky me I have other dreams too (and only a part of them is connected to clothes, unlike some of you might think).
Originally, I just borrowed the dream dress from Celia B for pictures, but I couldn’t send it back without being heartbroken. I felt like a child who has to give the candy back. A wedding in the family was the perfect excuse to beg the designer to sell my object of desire to me.
If my ancestors ever have a look at the family pictures, they will know me as the crazy pineapple girl. My dear friend Bink from Pearls & Swine made the cutest disco pineapple to go with my dress. At first I wasn’t sure if the orange of the dress would go well with my pink hair, but a little bit of accessory magic can change everything.
Believe it or not, I even caught the bridal bouquet, so this is a true power outfit. And before you ask: No, I’m not getting married now, I’m just not the girl to fall for white dresses when I can stay on my rainbow. Maybe I would reconsider if Celia B started to do wedding dresses as well…
Do you agree this is my best look ever and what is your dream look?

Shapeshifter: It’s amazing what happens if the wind plays with my blouse. |
Can’t stop wearing those sneakers because they are so, so comfortable. |
Just can’t show you enough of the coloured silk. |
Sometimes I watch other people and wonder how they can manage everything they do: Let me tell you about an amazing woman, let’s call her Clara for this post. Clara has a full-time job in a leading position, the perfect boyfriend, an amazing flat with a mixture of designer and vintage pieces. She runs a blog, a little online shop where she sells her self-made illustrations, and when you follow her Facebook feed, you get the impression she is on holidays once a month and dines in the best restaurants all over the world. What an amazing life! The longer you hang around on Facebook or Instagram, the more Claras you will find. They have lives without tears, sweat, hangovers or tiredness.
How on earth are they doing it and what secret do they possess we ordinary humans can’t even guess? Sad news: Probably Clara didn’t watch a single movie in a year, never spends a night in a club and didn’t cook in her stylish kitchen for months. There are no superhumans among us; it’s just all about priorities.
This is why I haven’t been blogging as much as I wished to recently. Not because I am bored of shooting crazy looks or telling you about my newest find. But I am not just Sara the blogger, but as well Sara the designer, the girlfriend, daughter, traveler and friend to a few of the most amazing people out there. It’s a struggle to fulfill of this roles sometimes, but you know that for sure because your life is just the same.
While I planned to blog a lot this weekend, I ended up tidying up my wardrobe and decluttering my life. It just felt great. Now I have space for new things, and my fingers want to edit pictures. Go Sara, go!
I hope your weekend was great as well, please take some time off from time to time and don’t think that the Clara’s out there are better than you!
My Outfit:
Tights: Esprit, Necklace: Tatty Devine, Sunglasses: Craig & Karl for Le Specs,
Bangle: Serene Kuhl
(I apologize to all Clara’s out there, it’s pure coincidence I’ve chosen your name as a symbol in this post)
Dear Iris Apfel, I adore you, inspiring woman. |
Just like Iris would do, I went for the biggest round glasses I could find. |
To make the look very Sara, princess shoes are a must. |
Neon Tassels: Those earrings go with nearly everything in my wardrobe. |
A sea of umbrellas: Cute this dress, isn’t it? |
Glitter Heart: Proudly wearing the L.O.M logo on my ears. |
Are you thirsty? Everybody seems to love this funny bag. |
Fluffy girl: While bomber jackets are a no go for many, I love them for casual urban looks. |
Rainbow eyes: Why choose one eyeshadow if you can wear all of them together? |
The best thing about autumn: Hello excuse to wear anything fluffy. |
Bright and Happy: Love the cheerful colours of this look.
|
This is a look I wanted to show you for some weeks, and I’m happy I finally can. It’s a look I’ve been wearing during my last London trip, and nearly everything I wear comes from this beloved city. I love the cheerful casualness of this look, and it makes me remember a few very beautiful moments. Just what I need, because the last few weeks have been very stressful. A pile of new projects at work, me in bed with a cold for days, the birthday party of my mum, a wedding in the family and to top everything the nightmare of every blogger: A dead MacBook.
I edited my pictures on three different (borrowed) laptops while my precious MacBook was gone and nearly went crazy because the colours looked dramatically different on all of them. I lost a lot of time being annoyed of realising how little control I have over how you see my pictures. If time were an endless source, I would not just shoot one outfit a day for you but as well turn into a technic freak and read everything I could to make my blog as best as possible.
When I saw the documentary about fashion icon Iris Apfel a few weeks ago, I was very impressed by the energy of this woman. Being 94 years old seems to be no reason for her to slow down her pace and come up with new projects. I wonder if she knows those feelings of never have enough time just as well as I do at the moment. My head is full of ideas, but there are just too few hours. But well, maybe still better than the other way round.
I hope you are fine, you don’t see my pictures all bluish or yellowish and handle the busy life with virtuosity. Don’t forget to tell me how you like this look, please.
My Outfit:

Just pink clouds allowed on the sky today because it’s time for a wedding! |
For this special occasion, just the most beautiful flowers will do. |
What a sweet statement necklace from Happiness Boutique isn’t it? |
Thinking of Carrie while rocking a tutu. |
No need glueing on fake eyelashes when you can wear them as glasses. |
A back covered in lace: Way more elegant than naked skin, don’t you agree? |
Prima ballerina girl: Let’s pretend for just one picture. |
Girls and parcels have one thing in common: Both look pretty with big bows. |
Thinking about weddings so much makes my head spinning. |
I nearly can’t stand the curiosity how the bride will look. |
I part with a kiss from you today. Sweet dreams of weddings! |
Oh summer I love you, and I am not the only one: There is love in the warm air and girls turn into brides one after one. It seems like there is at least one wedding nearly every weekend, and only winter will bring an end to it. I can’t wait till it’s my turn to invite all my guests to my flamingo wedding.
I don’t want to reveal too much, but there will be awesome things happening. There will be pink pompoms in the garden, glitter confetti and pastel coloured drinks with striped straws. Stop: I have fooled you, I’m not getting married at all. I have tons of rings and a sweet boyfriend who loves me, no vows needed to enhance this.
But a girl starts to have fantasies while seeing all other girls in their white dresses… I’ve worn this outfit to the wedding of my former apprentice (oh my, it sounds like I must be very old when my apprentices got married already). Even if I prefer science fiction and horror series to Sex and the City, my look turned out to be Carrie Bradshaw inspired. What a nostalgic thing, can’t believe it’s already this long ago!
Who doesn’t think of Carrie when they see a tutu skirt like mine from Rare London? One thing that makes me different from Carrie is my hunger for accessories, and this is why I think the look would just be half as good without my statement necklace from Happiness Boutique and my fancy sunglasses. I feel very naked without jewellery and who would go to a wedding without being dressed, n’est pas?
So, time to pay attention to the wedding, let’s hope the groom is not Mr. Big!

Shoes: Bordello, Sunglasses: Tatty Devine, Bangles: H&M, Ring: Rachel’s Wonders

While most bloggers already show pieces that scream autumn, you won’t find this happening here. Shall they keep their pumpkins and withered leaves, I rather welcome you to my tropical paradise.
Pineapples and rainbows are without any question better than muted autumn colours! If I just think about brown, I get goosebumps all over… It’s bad enough that there won’t be only sunny days for the rest of the year. So don’t make it worse, just stay dressed like there is a wild summer party going on 365 days a year!
I don’t know why, but it seems like the weeks are getting shorter and shorter, and the only thing that gets longer is the to-do list on my desk. This summer past so fast, I ask myself if it was just a lovely dream.
The feeling that I can’t do a small percent of all the things I have in mind – and sometimes not even the most important things as extensive as I’d wish to – frightens me. I imagine many of you must feel the same, so what shall we do, panic? While I don’t have a miraculous solution that makes your days longer, I know that complaining will even consume more of the precious time. So there is no point in whining, but using whatever time we can find, dress up, laugh and be crazy!
Happy pineapple day, happy Friday!
